Nader campaign hits Obama in new fundraising pitch

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/20/art.nader.gi.jpg caption="Nader’s campaign is taking aim at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in a new fundraising pitch."] (CNN) - A presidential rival is fundraising off of Barack Obama’s decision to reject public financing for the general election, using the move to fuel allegations the presumptive Democratic nominee is a policy-shifting flip-flopper.

But it isn’t John McCain.

Ralph Nader’s campaign sent an e-mail to supporters Friday that paints Obama as too close to big business and special interests. “Ralph Nader stands for shifting the power from the big corporations back to the people. Period. Full stop. End of story,” writes the Nader campaign. “Contrast that with Senator Obama.”

The message highlights what it says are changes in the Illinois senator’s positions on public spending limits, NAFTA and economic populism, and says that Obama has surrounded himself with “veterans of the military industrial complex status quo.” It does not mention his Republican counterpart, John McCain.

“We're at six percent nationwide in the most recent CNN poll. We're going to be on ten state ballots by the end of June. And we're shooting for 40 by the end of the summer,” writes the Nader campaign. “Together, we are moving forward. And together, we will make a difference in November.”

Barack Obama’s lead over John McCain increased by one point in the most recent CNN national poll when Nader, a perennial presidential contender, was included as one of the options.

Reporting on any comment made by Nader is a waste, as is his presidential bid, and of course a vote for him is a waste as well. He is a clown.

If people are not willing to donate directly to a candidate --

Why should the gov't decide for us where our tax dollars should be spent? I'd hate like hell for my tax dollars to go to the McWarmonger campaign.

DO NOT check the box on your tax form. Contribute directly to the candidate. That's the fair way to do it.

Nader is as relevant to the political process as Paris Hilton is to lowering gas prices.

Mr. Nader; You have been a spoiler for many years. Why don't you try to do good work and stay out of presidential politics.
The reality is, we've heard your message, over and over again and you don't resinate. You essentially work as a spoiler. Your 15 minutes of fame were over long ago.

Nadar is clueless as they come. He purports to be for certain values, but instead of doing what he can to further those aims, he puts himself in the forefront and actually harms his stated goals and values.

Whether he will admit it or not, Gore would have won in 2000 had Nadar dropped out. This makes him indirectly responsible for all the damage done by the Bush Administration, as that Administration would have never existed if not for Nadar's egotistical campaign.

Any vote for Nadar this year is a vote to extend our national nightmare.

Does Nader not believe Obama's campaign press about the small contributions that people have made to his campaign? Does Nader not believe that over a million individuals have made contributions to the Obama campaign?

To be polling 6% across the country is an achivement for Nader. I don't think that he has gotten that high in 8 years. He should join Obama's campaign rather than fight it. That would keep Nader out of trouble.

Someone should tell Nader that you attack the most dangerous opponent first, then after that's been dealt with, then, maybe, you deal with the less threatening ones.

Kind of like we should have done with bin Laden rather than worry about Iraq.

Nader needs to get over himself and get out of politics. Nader single handedly gave Bush the election in 2000 and threatens to do the same thing now for McCain. Ralph Nader if you read this please do the country the favor and GET OUT OF POLITICS!!!! You have zero chance of winning so why run. Is it that your ego is so big that you simply step away? If that is the case then make the ultimate sacrafice and kill your self. We will create a monument for you and you will be held in high public regard. If you continue to split the Democratic Party you will become an indelible blemish on American History. Take one for the team, drop the self righteousness and support Obama.

  15. Nader Who???...LOL

Excuse me but I thought that having over 1 million people donating to your campaign was NOT considered "big business" and "special interest".

This is just a Grumpy old rich man who decided one day hey I think as a hobby I'll run for President, we should ignore him.

    OBAMA 08!!!

No really, who cares what Nader says. He has never been much of anything, about much of anything, and has not accomplishe much in the political arena or with voters since he began this presidential thing of his years ago. Ralph continues to be and will always be a thorn in the Republicans side which is the only good thing about his presence.

Ralph Nader is totally irrelevant. Nader 's ego set the environmental movement back 20 years. He is a pariah that no one is going to listen to. It's sad to see such a destructive trait and self delusion in a man who sacraficed and destroyed his legacy to his ego.

i don't understand why this guy is running when it's so obvious he doesn't stand an ice cubes chance in hell of winning. Of course he has the right to run for office, but it just seems to be a waste of time and money. I guess he comes in handy for those that want to vote but don't like the dem. or repub. candidate. Whatever.
