On Facebook, it's game on for McCain

(CNN) – Anyone who thought John McCain’s campaign – which launched its very first Facebook application just two days ago – would make a major push on the social networking Web site when pigs fly… is right.
McCain’s new “Pork Invaders” application, launched Friday, is a video game that requires users to dodge incoming projectiles from flying pigs. If a user takes a hit from one of the application’s pigs, the user loses one of the three lives granted at the beginning of the game.
How do you kill the flying pigs? By shooting off vetoes. With each pig killed by a veto, users rack up millions of tax dollars as their score, and progress to the next level - but only after the game lays out campaign talking points like comparing the respective records of Sen. McCain and his rival, Sen. Barack Obama, on earmarks.
On Wednesday, the McCain camp launched “Campaign Cribs: Straight Talk Express” on Facebook, an application that allows users to take a video tour of McCain’s campaign bus.
McCain currently has approximately 150,000 supporters on Facebook while Obama now has roughly 1,020,000 supporters on the site.
Hope he got expressed written permission from Midway/Bally to use this game. Otherwise it is blatant copywright violation. Tomohiro Nishikado designed the original back in 1978. Way to go John, using archaic vid games for your campaign. What's next? McCain PAC-man? That one's from Midway/Namco, so you better check with them first.

This John McCain comes across as one of the most hypocritical politicians ever. For every accusation he launches at Obama, inevitably he has committed himself. The latest, which I have yet to hear CNN report, is his oft repeated phrase, "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company." Yet his tycoon "princess" wife has bashed Ms. Obama for her statement, "For the first time in my life...." Funny how selective of a memory both Mr. and Mrs. McCain has.

One of the founders of Facebook works for the Obama campaign. Also Obama has over 1,000,000 people on his Facebook list while McCain struggles to reach 200,000. Nice try McCain but you are falling way short.
What a neat application. It is a shame the candidate doesn't have the knowledge to actually play it. If you can't even send e-mail, you are not qualified to be president in the 21st century.
