Obama sets sights on Nevada, New Mexico

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/17/art.obama.6.15.jpg caption="Sen. Barack Obama heads west next week"]
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is heading west next week to campaign in two states he hopes to turn blue this November.

The Senator from Illinois is scheduled to hold a campaign event in Albuquerque on Monday and Las Vegas on Tuesday. CNN considers Nevada a battleground or swing state as both parties think they can win Nevada in the general election. President Bush carried Nevada in 2004, but by only two points over John Kerry.

CNN considers New Mexico a state that leans Republican, but the Obama campaign has the state in its sights. President Bush won New Mexico four years ago as well, but by only one percent, and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is a major Obama supporter.

But geography may also comes into play. Arizona borders both states and is the home state of Obama’s rival, Sen. John McCain.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee will also be in the west next week. He starts his week with fundraisers and campaign events in California.

@ Jess, Colorado Spring; you consider my posting of PUMA as annoying.....Guess what?.....Not only did you read it but, you repeated the slogan :). Republicans and PUMA individuals don't want to talk facts or blog intelligent conversations, they understand rants and believe what has been posted on these blogs. If, I want intelligent blogging, I visit Obama's website.

Guess what Jess, I got you to respond to my blog........so, it must be working. ROFLMAO

VERO POSSUMUS = IN FACT I WANT TO INFLUENCE YOU. Finally one honest phrase from Senator Barack Hussein Obama.

    US Code: Title 18,713:

all you Obama bashers need to focus on why anyone would vote for McCain. the guy is out of touch and can only reinforce the failed policies of George Bush. if you quit trying to smear Obama and truely listen to what the issues really are, it won't take a Rhodes Scholar to see Obama agenda is to overcome the many problems the Republicans have created the last 8 years. America is more than giving tax breaks to the rich. the vast majority of Americans can't afford decent health care and we continue to waste billions on the fruitless war in Iraq. get over it Obama is black. look at the big picture,oh thats right I read where white business men stated they rather hire whites with criminal records and no education rather than blacks with college degrees and no criminal record. that sums it up why you have a problem with Obama.

I don't know why people bother trashing Obama since in the long run it won't matter he will be the next president. The fact is the support McCain can logically hope to get in November are the people with less than average intelligence. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out 80% anti war, 80% down on economy + McCain 100% war, 100% thinks the economy is doing great!

As an outsider. A significant number of us are waiting for the Americans to do the sensible thing and elect Obama as President. We shall always remember you for this and hopefully the world will have a different direction from the confrontational ways of George Bush. Go AMERICA

Why the arrogant Obama wants to have Clinton to campaign with him after he disrespected her so much in the primaries. He knows that he should not be the nominee and that Clinton is the better and stronger candidate. So he wants to use her to support him in all of his weaknesses he has in his campaign. If I was Clinton, I would tell him to go to hell because he kept saying he can win it all so why does he not try to win it on his own.

Obama is running a racial campaign again like how he did against Clinton accusing her and her husband as being racist. But this will not help in in his race against McCain. I want them to put him in his place and even though I do not want the republicans to win, I would rather McCain over Obama any day. The democrats have really played into the republicans hands by selecting (not electing) Obama to be their nominee and they will regret it in November. Clinton should have been the nominee and she would definitely have won it for the democrats. Anyway, we will say hello to President McCain in November after he whoops Obama.

McCain had at the most a month or so to campaign for the general election and get a running start.. and he has raised a significant amount of money. Obama will need to work hard and catch up to make up for the weeks McCain had over him. I hope he spend every bit of my donation doing so. For the those folks, saying Obama is untruthful, use some common sense or either you are to narrowed minded to understand, the media will judge every one that each of these candidates say, but what we as spectators should do is judge as word the media say.

I agree with Jan that Obama does not have that much of experience. However, any good runner generally does not require too much practice before the race. I think, it applies to Obama. He is well educated self-made charismatic man. He can think himself and be a leader of his own. Will not need a second or a third man to make a decision. Obama will make a history in Nov. and will be one the best president of all time.

This New Mexican wouldn't vote for Obama unless McCain got arrested for stabbing someone with a dozen witnesses testifying that it happened (and the person was proven to be completely innocent). Obama scares me – he is arrogant and naive, a DANGEROUS combination! Not to mention he lies constantly (NAFTA, public financing....Republicans mainly financed by PACs and lobbyists, just to name the last few DAYS....)

Swannie, You must be one of those people who think you have to wear a flag pin to be loyal. You cant have a middle name like Husein. You must always place your hand over your heart when you sing the star spangled banner. Mostly you are a biggot looking for any insignificant deail to be able to rant and rave against Obama.
In the first place he did not use the Presdental logo!
Your argument has all the strengh of putting someone in jail for printing dollar bills with Micky Mouse on the front. You would call that forgery.

An Obama presidency will be good for this nation. So what if those two states don't go blue? It won't mean that he's failed. At least he's bringing his message to all 50 states, and asking EVERYONE to give him a chance. It's good for democracy.

Mocking HRC with your Annie Oakley antics just lost you more votes.

By your hateful mocking, jeering, and cocky swaggering boastfulness will you lose in NOV.

Swannie, the new logo does not break the law as per this excerpt from US CODE: Title 18,713:

"...for the purpose of conveying, or in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States or by any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof..."

Obama's logo doesn't show sponsorship or approval by the Gov't of USA therefore it doesn't fall under this law. =)

I hope that money and cheating do not gain you the presidency.

I left the party over the corruption of the primaries.

    No installed nominee for president.

The haters held all of America hostage until Obama was given the nomination.

    Don't let this injustice stand.
