Obama’s presidential seal gone after one use

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/23/art.seal.gi.jpg caption="The Obama campaign is no longer using the above logo."](CNN) – Barack Obama’s communications director said Monday that the presidential seal the campaign unveiled last week at a meeting with Democratic governors won’t be seen again.

“That was a one time thing for a one time event," Robert Gibbs told CNN.

Pegged to Obama’s rostrum at Friday’s meeting was his campaign’s version of the presidential seal – a bald eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, but instead of a shield covering the center of the eagle’s body, Obama’s had the campaign’s trademark “O.” Rather of the words “Seal of the President of the United States” around the circumference, “Obama for America” and “www.barackobama.com” lined the top and bottom.

The Latin “Vero Possumus” was arched between the eagle’s wings, meaning “Yes we can,” an Obama slogan and rally chant.

Many wondered whether a seal – with Latin phrasing no less – was the best idea for a candidate fighting for the working class vote and trying to fend off allegations of elitism.

They want us to believe it was a one time thing? Right.

If it was, what an incredible waste of money. I'm kind of glad they aren't taking public financing now, if this is any indication of what they'll use their money for. Most likely they intended to use it long term, and discarded it when they figured out how arrogant and disrepectful it was seen by the American public.

I though it was neat! However, I can see how it could have been a bit much too some people, especially all of those Obama haters. Can you smell the hate in the air?
I though it showed that his campaign designers are creative and talented. That's okay, give him 5 months and he'll be using the real one.

The weasel got too cocky and had to back peddle a bit.

We know he still thinks he is perfect.

He has done nothing for his country but promises that he WILL do everything perfectly – while he trashes those who have served with honor and dignity and blames them for everything that is wrong.

First DO something... before you declare yourself perfect and infallable.

    What a hypocritical do nothing

Is the "presidential seal" an example of how Obama views himself: vain, conceited, omnipotent, hauty, arrogant, self-glorifying?! What in the world was he thinking? He hasn't been elected anything yet...he's just in the running. Yet he can't wait to bring out the symbols of POWER. It's the height of presumptiveness! Good grief! Are we getting rid of "king" Bush only to elect "king" Obama?

    Those liars....

    They overestimated Obama's appeal...

Now pretend it was a one time thing.

Wish Obama was just a one time thing.

But the DNC bet on the wrong horse.

    They trashed the REAL leader.

Suffer in Nov for the treachery and the injustice and the hate.

If having Latin appears elitist then this whole country is elitist. Its all over the place, including our money. Hmmm, better stop using dollars overseas. Other countries will think we our elitist and we cant have that. Lets all get together to tell the US mint to issue a recall and replace everything with English-only bills.

Simply put... who cares about this symbol? I saw it and ignored within 5 minutes. Oh no! That means I'm an elitist! Now I am going to be depressed all day because I am too good to run for my local dog catcher office. I'm too elite to work with dogs. Shame on you Obama. 😉

  23. fixed for Obama

    They misgauged...

They thought it would be a big hit.

Just the haters for Obama found it to be a good idea.

Obama is back to limping... only the superdelegates can not install him as president.

The DNC can not control the vote in Nov.

That is what fixing a primary and selecting and installing the WRONG nominee leads to.

Please, please, let the "bitter" and uninformed (and racially motivated) Hillary supporters not vote for Obama; let them throw their votes at McCain and watch their dreams and hopes go down the drain!

These "bitter" voters should not be encouraged or begged to vote for Obama. For the educated and informed DEM, the primaries have always been about:
    1. The party, not the candidate
    2. The issues, not the candidate (gender, race or otherwise)
    3. The White House, not the candidate

This is about winning the White House, gaining control to address issues of interest to DEMS, if people cannot see this as the goal, please let them vote for McCain! Let this nonsense and baby-talk stop!
