Obama asks contributors to help Clinton with debt

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/06/24/obama.clinton.debt/art.obama.ap.jpg caption="Sen. Obama asked his contributors to help bring Clinton out of Debt Tuesday."]
(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama has asked top contributors to help his former rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, retire her debt, an Obama campaign source said Tuesday.

Obama did not direct members of his National Finance Committee to contribute to Clinton's campaign, the source said, but asked them to do so if they were so inclined.

Clinton suspended her campaign and endorsed Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination this month.

She has amassed a campaign debt of about $22 million, but about $12 million of that is money the New York senator loaned to the campaign herself.

Individual donors can contribute $2,300 to individual candidates.

Clinton and Obama have scheduled a joint campaign appearance Friday in Unity, New Hampshire.

Obama said Tuesday that he had spoken with Clinton by phone earlier in the day as well as on Sunday.

"We had a good conversation," he said. "We're looking forward to seeing each other tomorrow and campaigning on Friday."

Doesn't this make it clear to all Obama supporters that he's just another pol looking out for his millionaire Senate buddies?

He's obviously not on the little guy's side if he's asking us to give money
to a millionaire Senator like Hillary just because she cant' manage a budget.

This man is clearly not the Messiah his followers make him out to be.

Why would CNN delete my unifying comment? Please post:

This is a great example of Obama's good character and principles. As an Obama suppoter, I will try to give what I can to help Clinton with her financial circumstances.

I, for one, will be very unhappy. Let her blackmail squad–Harvey Whatsits the movie guy, one of the Pritzkers, Chelsea's boss at the hedgefund, Lady Rothschild–let them pay off her debts, they love her so much. Pelosi and Dean have their names, I believe.

Or for those who think it actually makes a REAL difference let me repeat it:

How much do I have to pay to never hear from her or Bill again? $100? No problem.

But didn't they earn $100 million this decade? $15 is little more than a years' income – Bill will make that back on speaking engagements and dodgy Kazakhstan deals in no time.

She's asking the wrong canidate for money. She should be asking John McSame. He's the one that her supporters will be voting for. She's so lame.

Obama wake up, man! If the shoe were on the other foot the Clintons wouldn't offer you a dime. It' s probably not your nature to say screw 'em, so there I said it for you.

    REDICULOUS! NONESENSE!

Why help this rich backstabbing woman who IRRESPONSIBLY got herself into this debt?

I'd rather donate to the Red Cross to the flood victims.

She has the money to write herself another check to payoff the debt! Her husband can go out make more speeches to payoff the debt!

The Clintons screwed up their hope in white house. Now, they are trying to screw up Obama's opportunity by taking his time away from his campaign to cater the selfish Clintons' personal agenda,

I WILL NOT donate any more money to Obama campaign if Clintons are on his VP ticket!

No to giving Hillary anything. And, we can't begin to unify until she pays her debt, like everyone else.

    What a basketcase.

    Join the PUMA PAC.

Help restore integrity and fair campaigning to the democratic party that clearly lost its way this primary season.

The new democrats introduced the tactics of insults, hate, division and name calling into our democratic process of selecting a nominee.

WHO BOOS A CANDIDATE OF THEIR OWN PARTY?

Come on true democrats lets rock and roll.

Actually, Hillary needing her debt paid shouldn't even be an issue at this time and date. I would have thought by now that all of those who are willing to throw this country down the tube with their idiotic messages of love and support for Hillary and then suddenly becoming a Republican over night point of view would have it paid off by now. Let's see you pay up and shut up. There's not a one of you that really supports Hillary as you claim to or you wouldn't be saying what you are. The only thing that I can think of is that she really meant what she said when she claimed to carry the less educated. It's the only thing that makes any sense. You all have to be a bunch of lunitics. UNLESS COLOR PLAYS A ROLE IN THIS.
