Obama: I am going to need Clintons

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/24/art.obamaneed.gi.jpg caption="Obama praised Bill Clinton in an interview with CNN."](CNN) – The same day that Bill Clinton’s office issued a statement saying that the former president is “committed to doing whatever he can” for Barack Obama, the Illinois senator told CNN that he and the Clintons will be “working closely together over the next couple of weeks to put together a plan.”

“They’re going to want to campaign actively on behalf of the Democratic ticket,” said Obama, “I am going to need them.”

“Bill Clinton is one of the most intelligent, charismatic political leaders that we have seen in a generation and he has got a lot of wisdom to impart,” he added.

Watch: Obama discuss the Clintons

Obama didn’t answer whether he’d spoken to the former president, but he did talk with Hillary Clinton on Sunday ahead of their joint campaign appearance on Friday in New Hampshire.

“[Senator Clinton’s] going to be a force to be reckoned with not only in the Senate but hopefully if I'm successful in the White House she's going to be one of my key partners in making sure that we’re moving forward on issues like healthcare that she cares so deeply about.”

Watch: Clinton looking for help with her debt

UPDATE: Asked again if he will speak to Bill Clinton soon, Obama told reporters on his campaign plane, “I’m sure we will. He's in Europe right now which is the only reason we haven’t spoken. But we’re looking forward to setting up a long conversation."

Obama added that he spoke to Hillary Clinton on Tuesday and said they’re looking forward to campaigning together on Friday.

Obama, you can get the Pope to support your nomination if you want.... it won't work. Those of us who see through you are a) scared of your insanely liberal socialist agenda, and b) saddened by the fact that so many sheep are unable to stop worshipping you long enough to come out of their zombie-state and see what you really are – a hypocritical liar that's WORSE and in it deeper than the 'old-school politicians' you claim to be against. It's exactly like when Bush was put into office.... people worshipping rather than using their brains. It's just "Democrat style" now – that is the ONLY difference. When did critical thinking become a BAD thing???

Seven articles on the Clintons today! Get over it, CNN, she lost and now has to run cap in hand to the men to get her money back. That sure advances the cause of feminism!

My family is not willing to vote for such an unqualified candidate. We understand that Hillary and Bill must support him, but some of us life-long Democrats are not uniting.

Good luck raising 85 million plus to compete with McCain and the Republicans. Good luck with your incompetent candidate.

Does Obama really need the liars Clintons to prop him up?

I am really concerned if he can really stand up on his own in leadership if he thinks he needs the Clintons to win!

Clintons are dismasted past of Democratic Party and us as democrats need to move on and not dwell on egotistic and self-absorbed individuals. Obama is the future of America and all the values that we stand for! World will envy us for our leadership, courage and culture once Obama is elected to for President of United States!

Do not believe all of the media hipe, you could win without having to keep sucking up to the Clintons. Just continue to campaign on the issues.

As I would say in basket ball terms, YOU HAVE YOUR LEGS BACK SINCE THE PRIMARIES ARE OVER. YOU WON!! BILL CLINTON REFERED TO HILLARY AS A FORCE TO BE RECONDED WITH. WHAT DO YOU OBAMA THINK ABOUT THE FORCE OF AMERICANS BEHIND AND SUPPORTING YOU, YOU IMPLIED THAT WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER AND.

    MOVE FORWARD!!!

    Listen up PUMAs:

If you cost Obama this election, Hillary Clinton is DONE. 18 million plus po'd Obama voters will BURY her at every chance they get. She won't even be able to hold onto her seat in the senate.

Just think of that before you have a brain cramp and write in Hillary or vote McCain.
______________________________________________________Who do you think you're threatening? We aren't afraid of you and your kind! We'll do as we please and you aren't about to do anything to hurt Hillary because there are laws to take care of people like you!!! GOT IT?

TRUTH: Charismatic, it is no coincidence that Bill and Barack share the same zodiac sign. Also, more than half the presidents are first born. Barack is a first born child…McCain is not.

You are correct Truth, both are Leo's, born leaders and very charismatic. McCain is a Virgo. I wonder if any reputable Astrologer has done chart comparisons on these two???

    Hey Jordan,

We're both too young to be involved in politics. We need to sit back and let the older Generation continue to run things, because they've done so well. They learned from their mistakes of the past, and thats why we're not involved in an unpopular foreign war like Vietnam. Their vast experience has allowed them to be careful stewards of our economy and now it flourishes. One day, when we're old, we can run the show for ourselves. But until then, we better just not have an opinion and stay home for the elections.

    Hey Clintonites!
Can we please make this about the issues? I don't care if you have a bone to pick with Obama, or even the DNC. Think long and hard about the issues at stake.

Tony, I agree one hundred percent. If I read one more post about how the DNC carried Obama across the finish line, I am gonna scream. There was no foul play on Obama's part. He ran a much better campaign, and still is. He is keeping it clean, despite the fact that all his opponents seem to focus more on him then his stance on issues. Maybe it's because they know he's right.

I think the Clintons should let Barack Obama do his own dirty work. Campaigning is hard work. Why should they break their backs? And, with how Obama is talking, I think he wants to put her in some cabinet slot like healthcare czar or something – a worthy cause, but she could do that as VP as well. And, there is NO PERSON outside of Hillary Clinton that can do the job she can do for this country as VP. No one.

Like he said he need the Clinton's to win this race. The Clintons don't need him. It is a shame the DNC pushed and pushed to get him the nominee without really thinking of the fallout. Obama is not ready to run any office and he throws anyone under the bus that don't see things his way.
Like Rev Wright said he is a politician that will say anything to win!! Now in today's news he slammed another Pastor a few years ago all for political gain. Look out America we all are going under the bus and the skid marks are going to burn so bad that we won't know what hit us/
Obama supporters you, DNC and his campaign divided the party..and oh him to with his flip flop flop flip!!

One thing I don't understand about the Media:

Why is the comments of Mr. Black has such a short live? If comments like this were made by Rev. Wright, would it still be same? I wonder….

I really worry about the mindset of those GOP, especially those neo-cons…What could be their contingency plan to continue their power stream? Could it be something like Mr. black mentioned about? Hmmm….I wonder…

I wonder if Gore took the presidency as he really deserved, what could have been different? I think about 9/11… If he were the president in 2001, could the 9/11 have been prevented? Well, the chances could have been much higher I think because he was Veep for 8 years after all. I just hope that God will not let bad things happen this time.

I really hope that God will let us have a good leader who will save us from all those troubles we are facing these days.

Wake up conservatives! It's time to be united under common purpose.
If you are a true believer in God and His teaching, you will know what is right thing to do. Love each other and promote world peace! Who do you think will be a better candidate for that job? It's a no brainer!

If Hilary Clinton had won the nomination she would have needed Brack Obama to win the White House. I would have expected him to do do all he could to help her win. It is the way of politics. We need everybody to help us. This is not a one man show!
