Democrat's al Qaeda comment sparks Republican ire

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/06/27/addington.alqaeda/art.addington.hearing.gi.jpg caption="David Addington said he could not talk about discussions about interrogation techniques during a House hearing."]
WASHINGTON (CNN) - A Democratic lawmaker's comment that he was "glad" that a top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney could be identified by al Qaeda has sparked outrage among Republicans at the White House and on Capitol Hill.

During a contentious House hearing on harsh interrogation techniques for terror suspects Thursday, Rep. Bill Delahunt, D-Massachusetts, was pressing David Addington, the vice president's chief of staff, about meetings he attended while serving as Cheney's chief counsel.

Delahunt asked repeatedly whether the topic of waterboarding, a controversial interrogation technique that simulates drowning, ever came up.

Addington replied that he could not discuss that because "al Qaeda may watch C-SPAN."

"Right," Delahunt responded. "Well, I'm sure they are watching, and I'm glad they finally have the chance to see you, Mr. Addington."

"Yeah, I'm sure you're pleased," Addington shot back.

"Given your penchant for being unobtrusive," Delahunt said about Addington's ability to stay behind the scenes.

This guy is a complete idiot. We all know the LEFT does not like the Right. However, what would this dip think if something did happen to Addington because of this? More than likely he would say he was just doing his job. The left is always trying to play gotcha. I wonder what shift Delahunt is going to take to make sure these radicals don't harm Addington???? Oh wait Delahunt is a radical.........

This guy is the picture of STUPID> Unring the bell Delahunt.......

You are a disgrace to me and should be to your party.

This is what happens when a disgraceful administration outs a CIA operative and the person or persons responsible go unpunished. I would call this a partial payback.

Haha, now this guy will be fine and it will prove there is no real threat from Al Qaeda. Why does this government have to keep us in fear. I know a few other governments that have done that in the past and are doing it now. I dont know how we get away with ousting people like Sadaam and criticizing Cuba and North Korea. Lead by example. This is America, people used to want to come here.

3000 people just rolled over in their collective 911 grave in Manhattan. Is there any doubt that Delahunt couldn't feel it..

It is so odd because neither the Democrats or Repbulicans intend to do the best for the nation. Funny how 2 ends of the spectrum have the same goal and the paths are so different.

I'm a registered Democrat and this irritates me. No one should put another American, for that matter, another person, in harm's way. I'm sure he just "MISSPOKE"...and then he'll say "Get over It"

We all know cheyney is crooked, this isn't news. On another note remember when Barack was accused by mcstupid of appeasement for saying he would use diplomacy with the North Koreans...well now look at what gwb just did, he removed sanctions against them and opened up diplomatic relations. Barack is proving to have very sound judgement and is some what of a progressive thinker. Love to know what mcstupid thinks now.
