Obama donates to Clinton campaign

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/06/26/clinton.obama/art.unity.gi.jpg caption="Sen. Obama and Michelle Obama donated to Clinton's debt."]
(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, each donated $2,300 Thursday to the campaign of his former opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton, which is millions of dollars in debt.

In addition, Obama's national finance chairman, Penny Pritzker, and her husband donated another $2,300 each, said Obama communications director Robert Gibbs. The $2,300 is the maximum individual contribution allowed.

"[Obama] wrote a check himself, as well as his finance chairman, so I got two checks in my pocket for Hillary," said Clinton adviser Terry McAuliffe.

Asked how much the checks were for, he responded, "They maxed out."

Obama communications director Robert Gibbs confirmed the Obamas' donations.

The move comes nearly three weeks after Clinton suspended her campaign and endorsed Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Nice that Obama thinks enough of Hillary to donate to her campaign. I'll bet she didn't donate to his as his is a campaign of broken promises, misguided policies and a return to Jimmy Carter. Do we really want that?

I don't think so, so let us unite and wake up to a brighter tomorrow and elect John McCain.

Larry King had a good show last night. The spokesperson for womenforfairpolitics.com was terrific and right on the mark.

    Unity? No. Not this year.

If the Dems foolishly nominate an unqualified and unelectable Obama, vote for McCain as a protest vote. Put your country first and party second. The Dem party must be held accountable for their failure to denounce the terrible treatment of Hillary Clinton in this 2008 campaign debacle. So let me get this straight: Obama tells supporters that they should not ask any favors of him and by law, he cannot grant them anyway. But if you like him, he would like you to give another person some money for free–just because he asked. What a country! What a political system!

This is disgusting!!! Yeah I understand party unity but Hillary bashed Obama & treated him like a dog, now he's kissing her butt & it makes me sick! All for votes that aren't guaranteed?? I'm losing respect for Obama.

I think its very notable that The Obamas and others on his campaign are donating to Hillbill. That speaks volumes of their character. I dont think it has anything to do with the Clintons being "bought" I think this is a way of unifying the party and making amends with Clinton supports.

However, I am not giving her nothing but the finger.

It's a shame Obama felt the pressure to donate to this moron of a woman (Clinton). She never had a chance to win, but she kept spending, digging herself a deeper hole in debt. The Clintons have plenty of money to pay off their debts. Americans are suffering enough as it is, so why the hell would we donate more money that we do not have. Someone needs to help us pay our bills.

you people are all jokes, all either side can do is argue about what he didn't or did do and what she didn't or did do. This is all part of the process or have all of you been ubder rocks the last 2 or 3 presidental elections
Get over it , we are in a fight for this country and this bickering is childish at best.

I have to rethink about my voite for Obama. sOME HOW HIS CREDIBILITY IS NOW IN DOUBT WITH THIS, I am not going to vote republican but I am planning not to vote for Obama either. I felt that Obama stood for principles but in the end of the day this looks like politics as usual to me. His focus should have been on elections. Besides Hillary is in mess because of her own doings.

Now all of a sudden he is a hero? Let's not forget that when asked if she would support HRC, MicHELLe Obama said she would "have to think about it".

I will never climb aboard. He is inexperienced and is arrogant. I am a HRC supporter voting for McCain. HRC will run again in 4 years.

Read William's comments above carefully. He is right!

William Rinds: How can we trust either of these people? Are you kidding me? Let's just say that we don't trust either of them – after the last 7 years of incompetence and corporate thieves, would you seriously want to continue the direction we're heading right now?

When you're on the 10th floor of a burning building with no way down but to risk jumping into a net held by Obama, Clinton, and friends. You've really got nothing to lose, so jump!

  24. @everyamericans

Alll these backward looking americans will just keep hating on Obama and Hillary uniting together to move the democratic agenda forward...if only you can direct all that (negative)energy on something positive...we will be looking at solving our nations economic crisis, rising foreclosures, high gas prices, poor dollar, record breaking floods in the heartland, jobs being shipped overseas.

The republicans have taken us for a ride for 8 good years and I dont think this is the time to engage in small-minded bickering!

Let's elevate the discuss and put a democrat in the White House!

    VOTE FOR UNITY!

    VOTE FOR CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
