Will Smith says he'd make a good Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/27/art.obamasmith.gi.jpg caption="Will Smith says he'd make a good Obama."](CNN) - The prolonged Democratic primary race had all the twists and turns of a Hollywood thriller, and at least one A-list actor is ready to portray Barack Obama on the big screen.

Speaking with MTV earlier this week, actor Will Smith said he'd enjoy playing the Illinois senator in an upcoming movie and noted the two share at least one feature in common: rather large ears.

"It's all right here," Smith joked as he pointed to his ears. "That's the key. That's the key. America loves ears, you know? Mickey Mouse started it; Goofy and Dumbo followed behind. And America just loves ears."

Earlier this year, Obama said he and Smith had discussed the possibility.

"Will and I have talked about this because he has the ears!" Obama said at an MTV/MySpace Presidential forum in February.

But Smith says he wouldn't sign onto a movie about Obama until the campaign outcome is clear.

"As soon as he writes the end of the story," Smith said of when he'd be willing to take up the role.

No word on which Hollywood actresses are interested in portraying Hillary Clinton.

Tom Cruise would be a wonderful pyscho PUMA Clinton supporter. His last scene can show him cutting his foot off believing that it will teach America a lesson.

  5. Can't Wait

Will would be my first choice also. That will be a great film, maybe even his Oscar winning role. I can’t wait already.

Why does Hillary need to be in the film? This movie would be about Obama and the history he is making, not Clinton. I think we have seen quite enough Clintons. Maybe she would need a small cameo appearance for her primary campaign but a very small one and by an unknown actress. She can get her own movie if she wants, this is about Obama.

Barack Obama gives real answers to our problems.

Oh I am so sick of Will Smith and his entire family! He is SOOOO over-rated as an actor and is as phony as the day is long. He made a movie portraying Ali....what a bomb! Somehow he thinks he can do anything and it will work........his ego gets in the way of my having any kid of a positive feel for him. Yuck!

Good luck finding somebody who would actually want to portray Hillary Clinton in a movie. I highly doubt there will be any Clinton movies in the near future unless it's a documentary on how to lose a presidential campaign.

  13. No More GOP

To all those Hillary supporters that are filled with hate, that are voting for McCain instead of your party. Remember Hillary is planning on running again.

When that time comes don't be surprise if the Obama supporters switch side, and don't vote as well.

If the GOP get in there she will lose again in the coming years.

The Hillary army is really destroying her chance of ever getting elected and they do not even see it.

    Because "Krama" is something else…!!

He said almost the exact same thing on the Daily Show. He's out promoting his movie, and this is one of his standard laugh lines that he uses on all of the talk shows. Not really news, although by the time Obama's story is finished being told, Will Smith may well be the perfect actor to play him.

A reporter once asked President Clinton which actress he thinks should play Hillary in a movie. President Clinton replied "Meryl Streep."

Senator Obama was asked the same question about Michelle recently, and he responded "no actress is beautiful enough, so Michelle would have to play herself."

    Will Smith really flatters himself!

So why is CNN deliberately ignoring the P-Diddy "Obama or Die" chant at the BET awards this week?

This is sounding more and more like the Zimbabwe elections. Magabe would be very proud of Barak.

  25. PLEASE NO

I for one am happy that the primary season is over and don't care to relive it. Should there be a movie about the first Black president? Yes and I'm sure that there will be, but please...NO MOVIE ABOUT THE PRIMARIES...and NO MOVIE ABOUT BARACK WHERE HE IS NOT MAIN CHARACTER like it has been in real life. A guys can't even get his 15 minutes anymore!
