Lieberman says terrorist attack likely

Joe Lieberman, the Democrat-turned-Independent who is a strong supporter of Republican John McCain's White House bid, suggested Sunday the United States will likely face a terrorist attack in 2009.
The controversial comments followed remarks by top John McCain adviser Charlie Black late last week that a terrorist attack leading up the the general election would probably help the Arizona senator's White House hopes.

"Our enemies will test the new president early," Lieberman told CBS Sunday. "Remember that the truck bombing of the World Trade Center happened in the first year of the Clinton administration. 9/11 happened in the first year of the Bush administration."
McCain and his supporters have long argued the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is better-suited to handle the country's foreign policy challenges than Barack Obama.

"[McCain] knows the world," Lieberman said. "He's been tested. He's ready to protect the security of the American people."
But Lieberman, who served as the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, distanced himself from Black's contention that a terrorist attack would boost McCain's chances of winning the Oval Office.
"Sometimes even the best of them say things that are not what they intended to say," Lieberman said. "Certainly the implications there I know were not what Charlie intended. And he apologized for it. Senator McCain said he didn't agree. And, of course, I feel the same way.
Lieberman, who calls himself an "independent Democrat," endorsed McCain in early December.

CNN people please do professional journalism. your headline is false. When I saw the headline, I was surprised. Democrats predicting an attack? I was wondering who he is. When I read the story, it was Lieberman. Its a misleading headline. you can say Ex-democrat or simply Lieberman. "Democrats predict terrorist attack". dont you thinnk it is a misleading headline? He is not a democrat anymore and he is independent and endorsing Mccain. why cant you say Lieberman predicts terrorist attack.
The Republicans will have you think that the 9/11 attacks took months to years to plan and execute (while Clinton was in office). Now that Bush has been in office 8 years, Lieberman and the Republicans seem to want you to think that if a terrorist attack occurs if/when Obama wins, it's the Democrats fault.
Guys...I don't know if Obama is the answer or not...but I know that what we've been doing isn't working. We need change. We need someone to stand up for the American people. Vote your conscious people...not along party lines.

It is good to know that your political careear is in it's twilight years, so the rest of us won't have to deal with your overtly Zionist agenda. War-mongering went out of style in about 2005, so if you could just quiet down with the anti-Iranian, terrorist-fearing rhetoric during the election cycle we would all be more informed voters for it. The really sad part of this whole thing is the number of Americans that can't tell the difference between fear mongering motivated by political desperation versus reality.
An admission by McCain's campaign that the policies of George W. Bush and the Dept. of Homeland Security will be judged by history as having been unsuccessful. Perhaps they need to attack civil liberties in the United States Constitution even more!

I think most anyone with brains has noticed the pattern of attacking a new administration in the Oval Office. So, why do people keep talking about it in the media? I don't think it is in the best interests of national security to do so.
