Dem wants to ban future Roves from the White House

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/08/art.rove.gi.jpg caption="Rove is a former top Bush aide."](CNN) - The future Karl Roves of the world may be outlawed from working in the White House.

Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman, the chairman of the powerful House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, suggested to a Capitol Hill newspaper that he is considering legislation that bans the use of federal money to fund a position similar to the one the longtime Bush aide held in the White House.

Rove, who orchestrated both of the president's successful electoral victories, headed the White House's Office of Political Affairs and the Office of Public Liaison during Bush's first term. Democrats have long accused Rove of using those offices - which include interacting with political committees and interest groups - to essentially run the president's 2004 reelection campaign.

“Why should we be using taxpayer dollars to have a person solely in charge of politics in the White House?” Waxman told The Hill. “Can you imagine the reaction if each member of Congress had a campaign person paid for with taxpayer dollars?”

Ethics rules in the Senate are considerably clearer when it comes to conducting political business: congressional aides are banned from using government phones, e-mail, and computers for any politically-related job.

Waxman's office confirmed the accuracy of the quotes, but would not comment further.

If you outlaw this, then you better be honest and dig into Obama's closet and get rid of his contyacts that he and his wife have within their little quite organization. They are just like the Clintons and have many hidden secrets in those closets which will soon be brought to air. It may not open all the way, but read some of what is happening and lets see who actually is open to change and who is not, who can change the economy and who cannot and who is best for the people and who is not. What we are seeing now is flipflops by some and lack of real support by others, who do we actually trust,
    NEITHER YET.....

Actually congressman Waxman, I am more outraged that a clown like you continues to occupy a seat in government. I am more outrtaged that your party made all of these promises yet spent the first year of its majority status bringing bill after bill after bill to the floor demanding a withdrawal from Iraq. I am more outraged that your party is beholden to the unions and George Soros to such a point that you fail to accomplish anything in the last two years.

Soooo.... you want to ban political consultants.... from politics? Can we also ban politicians from politics? I'd go for that, Mr. Waxman.

I had to post here since the comments are closed for the McCain economic interview that took place this morning.

I don't see how anyone can vote for McCain. He knows absolutely nothing about economics. During the interview, he consistently switched the subject with sound bites and sarcastic responses when pressed for an answer. I would like him to list the "many" economists that allegedly agrees with his warped economic policy. He's using the seriously outdated republican rhetoric: democrats are tax and spend librals. Irrespective of the 21st century spin and updated version of this tired and worn out republican rhetoric, voters clearly saw in today's interview that McCain is a clueless politician. And to think, he actually wants to debate Obama. No amount of tutoring is going to prepare McCain when he pressed on the issues.

What a load of garbage. Just as with everything else, when lefties don't like something and the can't figure out how to handle it, they try to legislate it out of existence.

The Dems are so silly. Okay we get rid of this position. With a stroke of a pen we create another one. Why do we want to get rid of any president's advisors? No one man can run a government like ours. I know you hate Rove, but use common sense. Do not let your emotion direct your decisions.

Wow, you people really are uninformed aren't you?
Ever wonder why Waxman wants him banned? It's because the man is a freaking political genius. No other way to put it. Of course he hates the man, he has single handedly orchestrated two presidential victories when both should have been Democratic victories. So now you hate the man because he did what he was paid to do?
And just stop while your ahead if you think Henry Waxman isn't one of the dirtiest politicians there is. His head is so far up in the clouds he might as well be Frank Lucas before he was pulled down. Talk about this administration all you want but Democrats do the same crap in the Senate on a daily basis. OH and congrats Dems for having the lowest approval rating ever for a national government elected office. Single digits is hard to do. But let me guess...it's Bush' fault too right?
    Facts aren't a liberals friend

Waxman the slimeball – give us a break. The most left-wing partisan of all in Congress. Of course – we read this on the Clinton News Network – with all the normal left wing slant. How surprising.

Get rid of career politicians like Waxman that feed the public ridiculous pablam and have done nothing to curtail the abuses of the last 8 years.

Why don't we try term limits.... one 6 year executive....one six year senate and one four year house.

Anything would be better than the gridlock.......R's have done nothing....D's have done nothing.......and neither are going to do anything....it is the gravy train.......... by the way.....how about the congress actually creating money and not the FED..... In debt to whom!

The democrats have the equivalent in Rahm Emmanuel, only worse. Rove has done nothing illegal, yet the democrats want to keep the Kool-Aid drinking lemmings thinking he is some kind of evil conspirator because they brought two shamefully poor (and now three) candidates to the election.

The dems will be whining again in November.

America is smarter than just the democrats.

    We will not elect Obama!

Yes Bush and Cheney simply delegated everything to Rove. The President is suppose to directly be in charge of running the White House not someone like Rove.

In the world of legacies, I certainly hope they get this one's right; scum bag, unethical, corrupt, arrogant, fraudulant, irresponsible, greedy, and I could go on. And the audacity of seeing him on a talk show giving advice makes me want to shoot my tv. There is no one too low to be given the respect that is so undeserving of this person. To be paid by us, the taxpayer, to coerice and fabricate and lie and disrespect the law – I'm beyond words harsh enough to describe this person. I'm sure he is proud of himself, and that he laughed all the way to the bank during his time with Bushy, and, of course, he'll write a book (or has already) that the ignorant public will buy to make him even richer and sleazier. Do you get the picture of what I think his legacy should be??

This move has David Axelrod written all over it!

Get an ally to say the exact opposite of what you want as part of your effort to get it.

Axelrod has wet dreams of being called The Architect and Obama's Brain.

Too bad he's running a two-front battle against all the Republicans and much of the base of the Democratic Party's constituencies.

Obama sleazed off with a nomination that he did not earn and does not deserve, and he's got no chance of winning in November.

    Sorry Axelrod.

The more dirt that comes out of practices upheld in Washington with taxpayers dollars is totally disgusting. Where are the lawmakers that protect taxpayers from theives or are they also theives. We the People need to overturn this House of Theives. They should be held totally responsible for the corruption that has caused failure in our economy and loss of jobs.
