(CNN) - Whether or not their dad becomes the next president of the United States, the Obama kids are already winners - of a dog, that is.

In an interview with the entire Obama family to air later Tuesday, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, told Access Hollywood their famous mom and dad promised to buy a dog after the rigorous campaign season comes to an end.

"Win or lose, win or lose," the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said.

In the interview, Malia also said she often gives her dad campaign tips on how to reach out to young people her age.

"You really don't shake kids’ hands that much, you shake adult hands," she said. “And I say you just wave and say hi, so I do that kind of stuff."

What's it like to have parents in the spotlight? Malia said now she reads about her mom in People Magazine.

"They always have those sections with you know, how much people's dresses cost, and so I saw that magazine, and I said, 'Oh mommy you're in this!' I've never seen mommy in that. Because I usually see people like Angelina Jolie –”

"You know, important people," mom Michelle quipped.

"Yes, real important people, no offense," Malia said.

Those kids are just too cute. Regardless of whether you like Obama or not, you have to admit that his girls seem very cute and down to earth...

Typical american family. They are wonderful and can't wait to see them in the White House. The mccain's on the other hand – does cindy ever say anything? Like is she real? Or a stepford wife?

How is this story useful to Americans in determining if he's prepared to be commander in chief? What we should be evaluating is some of the racially sensitive material he mentions in his memoir including the use of the phrase 'white greed.' Additionally, his memoir talks about his days of heavy drug use and reveals that he was in fact aware of Wright's sermons. This information is very troubling and it should be revealed to the American people. Our lives do not depend on whether or not the Obama family buys a dog for their children.

I am thrilled that Obama seems to be a good father but that doesn't make him the best person for the Oval Office. Again, why is this news? Is it because another poll claiming that McCain has an edge over Obama with people who own pets made the news today. Ridiculous.

Iraq AGREES to a timeline withdraw! gasp! They agree with Obama, democrats and the rest of the world!

McCain and Bush have said over and over and over again NO to timelines in Iraq.

Why is this important when so many people are suffering?
Why were we promised "no more politics as usual" and yet he is spending millions on a party to celebrate a nomination that he already has?
    Lies. Nothing but lies.

    This is news?????

CNN should change it's name to ONN, except a better news organization already is using that name.

I love the thought of a young family once again in the White House. I recall with great fondness how wonderful and hopefull we all felt with JFK's young children. Obama instills hope and inspires us to be better than we are. His beautiful family is but another gift to treasure.

  19. Judgement over experience

Once again Obama's judgement has proven sound and shrewd. The Iraq's want us out of Iraq and they want a timeline something Bush and Mccain with all their experience don't want.

This is news! You've been peddling this story for months now.

Besides, "buy a dog"? Why not adopt and save a life?

What an adorable family. It will be so nice to have family I can relate to in the White House. This will be great for America and people will pay attention to what's going on, because they will have a President who keeps them in the know. Also, people will pay attention just because of the fact of the big change this will bring to our country. I can't wait to say President Obama!

Eric-PA........Please get over this old story and move on. All these issues have been addressed. Why are you deliberately punishing yourself by not embracing this wonderful candidate of change. You name any politician that hasn't misstepped, misspoke and all the rest of this. So why are you still beating on this dead and buried issue. Get a life and move on man.
