Obama begins overseas swing in Afghanistan

Sen. Barack Obama will visit several world leaders over the next few weeks.

Sen. Barack Obama will visit several world leaders over the next few weeks.

(CNN) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is in Afghanistan on a multistop overseas trip for meetings with international leaders but with an eye on the U.S. presidential race back home.

Obama's trip, which includes visits to Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, is intended to bolster his foreign policy credentials before U.S. voters.

"This is the campaign trail via satellite - pictures for the rhetoric back home," CNN's Candy Crowley said, adding that the trip was intended to demonstrate that Obama was up to the job of taking a lead role on the international stage.

"The question is, is he tough enough to stand up for America but graceful enough to improve [its] image?" Crowley said.

In a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 48 percent of registered voters said Obama would make a good commander in chief, compared with 72 percent for his Republican rival, John McCain.

Obama has more qualifications in his little finger than does McBush. At least Obama believes in diplomacy, while McBush only believesin the continued slaughter of American soldier in a war that should have never been started!

Poor John, from hero to coward for knuckling under to George in 2000 when he should have stood his ground and fought the neocons instead of tacking their promise to get him elected now.

MCCAIN WANTS TO BE COMMANDER IN CHIEF, WHAT A FRAUD. RUMSFELD DENIED TROOPS BETTER EQUIPMENT AND SAID YOU GO TO WAR WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, MCCAIN REMAINED SILENT BECAUSE HE SUPPORTED HIM. MCCAIN DIDN'T SUPPORT THE GI BILL. MCCAIN DIDN'T VOTE FOR VETERANS STIMULOUS CHECKS. MCCAIN TOOTS ABOUT HIS MILITARY EXPERIENCE BUT DIDN'T SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. WHAT MORE PROOF DOES ONE NEED TO KNOW MCCAIN IS A FRAUD. VOTE OBAMA.

And conspiracy theorists wait with baited breath to see if the neo-cons can mange an attack on him while he's in the war zone.

Pompous self-serving hypocrit... he forgot all about the committe he chaired.

Now it is politically expedient for him to use it to his political advantage

"I think it is very important to recognize that I'm going over there as a U.S. senator . . . “ Obama was quoted in a previous article about his trip to Iraq and Afghanistan – presumably for fact-finding purposes.

Then why is he adding on a trip to Europe? As a Senator for fact-finding purposes? Hardly! Who’s paying for this?

He is sooooooooo in love and infatuated with himself.

So he doesn't have time to do the job he is elected to do-- he is too busy fast tracking himself to the white house.

Well he is likeable and makes a GREAT first impression.

But then it is downhill from there once people come to see the REAL Barack.

Phony just takes you so far... then you must actually DO something to deserve the praise you crave.

Obama will try to make Afganistan look like a disaster because of some recent setbacks. He won popularity with the pre-911 thinking, left-wing, nutjobs by belittling Gentral Petraus and the Surge when all looked lost in Iraq. McCain had the foresight and guts to support a then-unpopular increase in troops. Now that Iraq is turning into a success, the Obama leech will turn his attention to another trouble spot and play politics there. Obama has no shame.

Our troops are on the verge of being drawn down in Iraq through victory, no thanks to the Democrats. Those troops will probably be sent to a surge into Afganistan and destroy the Taliban. This was not Obama's idea, even though that weasle will try to get credit for it. I hope Obama will be exposed for the grifter that he is.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS, THAT WE'VE HAD A

PRESIDENT (soon to be) OF THE UNITED STATES, VISIT

THE WORLD, AND NOT HAVE THE DIRT GET THERE BEFORE

    HE DOES.

IT'S WEIRD TO FEEL PRIDE AGAIN AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS.

I'm sure Obama is terrified to go overseas. This is not his cup of tea. The only thing Obama is good at is giving pre written speeches and playing basketball.

Propaganda has it that the WHOLE WORLD loves Obama...

Just like all of Amerika loves him....and wants him for president.

Just like he is a shoo in for president... but then why is he still campaigning and raising money...?

I thought Obama had the election in the bag because AmeriKa is in a bad way, after Bush and all, and with all the anti-republican sentiment and desperate AmeriKans grasping at straws in the name of change.

Isn't propaganda a wonderful way to steal a nomination and hopefully steal the election?

Will we fall for the hype- again?

What a smart strategy. Go to the REAL site where the REAL war on terror is occurring (Afghanistan) not Iraq.

Wonderful photo! The big smile, the twinkle in the eyes says a lot about how happy this freak is to be going where he can walk among those he would so love to join, to become a part of in his crusade for change.

Those for McCain obviously don't have tv – or maybe they can't read or think for themselves.

McCain does nothing for vets, women, poor people – it's all for his wealthy friends and lobbyists for big business. That is what needs to stop.

Let's stop it this year. Let's make the US a place where all people have opportunity.
