White House sends press corps al-Maliki praise for Obama plan

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/19/art.maliki.gi.jpg caption="al-Maliki praised Obama’s 16-month withdrawal plan in a newspaper report Saturday."]CRAWFORD, TX (CNN) - An embarrassing slip up for the White House press office Saturday, when an aide hit the wrong button and mistakenly sent to the news media a Reuters article saying Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki backs presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's troop withdrawal plan.

White House spokesman Scott Stanzel says, "It was a mistake. Clips list for staff was supposed to be the addressee."

The Obama campaign quickly took advantage of the mistake, forwarding an ABC report detailing the incident to its press list.

This is not the first time the White House has emailed in error. But its timing is particularly embarrassing as the Bush administration's recent agreement with al-Maliki on a "general time horizon" for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq is being cited by some as resembling Obama's proposal that U.S. forces should leave within 16 months.

Yes, most people say Obama will not be a better President. He talked about talking with the enemies of the US. Now the government is doing just that.

  15. Obama for President

Obama's in Europe because as President, he represents our country to the world. So no, he's not there "collecting money from terrorists," you moron, he's there to restore America's tarnished reputation in the world abroad (which, believe it or not, DOES matter, even though some people seem to think that because we're American it doesn't matter what other people think, we're supreme. Not true; in this global economy we need to be on the same playing field as everyone, and with Bush's poor leadership, the world at large no longer respects us).

The proper time for withdrawing invasion and occupation forces from Iraq was five years ago, before this immoral, illegal, unconstitutional, terribly expensive, impeachable war was begun–not now or in 16 months after Bush has bankrupted this country and savagely destroyed Iraq.

    "patriotism and service to country"-

Both Gore and Kerry served in Vietnam while Bush played cheerleader at Yale and was MIA from the National Guard. So, being a Vietnam vet and hero did nothing for them. Why should the McCain/Omama contest be viewed any differently?

Obama's plan almost makes sense, now that the war is essentially won. Of course, it wouldn't be in that state if Obama's opposition to the Surge had carried the day.

Still, the speed of the reduction in force should be determined by the commanders on the ground. And it won't be complete; air units and border security will still need our presence for awhile yet.

This is what I'd rather hear.

The old man predicted more terrorism (per republicans it will be right before the election).

I wish we could pick a president based on ability to do the job instead of fear and bragging about things that happened almost 50 years ago - or was it 40 - or

Never mind, McCain can't remember, and I couldn't care less about his ineptness at flying a plane, getting decent grades when his daddy and grand-daddy pulled strings to get him into the Naval Academy.

Retire, old man. Even the media don't want to follow you. Your boring and you're a liar.

To OBAMA TRIP HURTS U.S. ECONOMY! Are you living under a rock?
What was sent out what was called a "slip" is no different than a "time horizon" When you say Obama is going out of the country to raise money, have you been paying attention to how the money has been raised by both campaigns? Get real.

OMG...stop with the spitting out of this auto-responder generated crap about Obama hurting the Economy. He's over there on a fact finding mission. He's over talking to the leaders of countries that can help us if we stop trying so hard to call everyone wimps with a difference in opinion than our current administration. (CNN stop letting them post crap that isn't true and you know it's not!) The McCain machine is as redundant, senile and old as he is!!! Someone hit "control, alt delete" and reset the recordings cus somewhere a tape has jumped the track and you people are beginning to get repetitive. We've known this trip was going to happen for a couple of weeks now, and Sen. McCain also has gone on these trips..I knew about them..how come you didn't? I got the info from the same place I found out about Obama's trip...CNN so stop calling them biased..they showed two profiles last night..we know a lot more about McCain then we ever did Obama..and they were about as unbiased as you can get. They talked to family, friends, authors of books about them..and frankly I didn't hear anything I didn't already know about McCain..one of the Keating 5...the man that thinks he is a failure because he broke under immense torture...when most people would have broke long before he did..has an ego complex..he's looking to "not fail" at things. Well, guess what..Obama may or may not win the election but he's always tries to SUCCEED in stead of just "not fail". Tired of hearing how he "broke". He needs more counseling or something to rid himself of that guilt. Veterans today could learn a lesson from him on self esteem. I have an aunt-inlaw that would say "He needs some churching up". Hold your head high boys..no matter what you've been through. Don't be ashamed at being wounded, don't be ashamed to ask for help. Obama has 300 advisers because he wants the best team available..and because he wants to succeed instead of just "not fail". Not failing is a D-. Not failing is a "fair" rating. Not failing is getting the bronze medal at the olympics. Not failing is getting to Wimboldon(sp) and not quite making it in the last round. (It's called second place but really..we all know who the winner is..:) (Yeah! Serena!) Venus got beaten fair and square and John McCain will "Not fail" at getting elected president but come in Second place..yea..that's it..second place..sounds better than "LOSER !". Hero of the military he may be but his civilian life is not all that wonderful . I think frankly his wife is more qualified than he is to be the candidate of the Republicans. At least she can admit to her faults and get on with her life. He can't stop talking about how he failed in North Vietnam. He didn't fail..he was shot down and captured, and survived. And if that's a failure..wow..he's got way to much ego to be president.

OBAMA TRIP HURTS U.S. ECONOMY! July 19th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

How about if we elect a President the old fashioned way — through fair and honest elections, based upon the candidate's actual patriotism, experience, judgment, and service to country — instead of who is more of a showman, or who can raise more money — and, therefore, buy the Presidency (like Barack Hussein Obama did in the primaries) — and is trying to do in the general election.

Where did Obama’s money come from? How much came from his terrorists friends and foreign countries?

Why is he in Europe? Is he getting more money? Europeans can’t vote for President of the U.S.

Why won’t he participate in town hall meetings with “Americans”?

How much did this trip cost? What is this trip costing the American Enonomy? Why does he need 300 advisors? Do they put a piece in his ear and feed his speech to him?

McCain has been over there eight times — the biased media did not report it — they certainly did no go with him.

    I’m voting for John McCain
