White House sends press corps al-Maliki praise for Obama plan

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/19/art.maliki.gi.jpg caption="al-Maliki praised Obama’s 16-month withdrawal plan in a newspaper report Saturday."]CRAWFORD, TX (CNN) - An embarrassing slip up for the White House press office Saturday, when an aide hit the wrong button and mistakenly sent to the news media a Reuters article saying Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki backs presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's troop withdrawal plan.

White House spokesman Scott Stanzel says, "It was a mistake. Clips list for staff was supposed to be the addressee."

The Obama campaign quickly took advantage of the mistake, forwarding an ABC report detailing the incident to its press list.

This is not the first time the White House has emailed in error. But its timing is particularly embarrassing as the Bush administration's recent agreement with al-Maliki on a "general time horizon" for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq is being cited by some as resembling Obama's proposal that U.S. forces should leave within 16 months.

    This is hilarious.

First, the Republicans complain that Obama is willing to talk to Iran, an idea they say shows how naive he is. A few months later, we're talking with (you guessed it) Iran! That's pretty funny.

Next, Republicans complain that Obama is setting a timetable for withdrawal.......and a few weeks later, we're doing something very much like that (while denying that we're doing it, of course).

And now, the White House denies that their new plan and Obama's old plan are similar, but they go on to show us that they are the same by mixing them up in a press release. Hilarious.

The tax payers paid for the trip for Obama and McCain. The person who wanted to know. The person also stated that McCain had been there three times . OK!!!, so McCain has been there more than Obama. I am glad you can add and subtract. Yes, you do that and vote for McCain. I will vote for Obama. OBAMA 08

Wow....sucks to be John McSame right now. But I don't see how this is going to change the mind of all the McBush followers who still think we're in Iraq because of 9-11 and many other "proven facts". Ignorance is bliss and heaven forbid if you have to think on your own. Also, to Mr./Miss "OBAMA TRIP HURTS U.S. ECONOMY!"...you're one of the reasons that ignorance and bigotry are still alive and well in this beautiful nation. Congratulations.

A great deal has changed in Afghanistan in two years. McCain, who attacks Obama for not being in Iraq for over two years, has not been in Afghanistan in over two years.

Obama Trip Hurts US Economy: Where do your "speculations" come from? On what do you base any of your "suspicions" on?? You are as out of touch as McCain who is now adopting Obama's policies and trying to claim them as his own.

Well, it looks like Obama do have friends in the White House . After all. who else would send the email ( in error?). Even the white house don't want McCain to win. The leaders started seeing Obama as the next president of America. See the enthusiasm from the troops. It is nice to see the smiling faces of the men & women in the uniform when Obama visited them.

How on earth can an Obama visit to foreign countries be considered' hurting the US economy when McCain has been there at taxpayers expense 8 times? Who do you think paid for those trips? He was criticised when he didn't go and now he is criticised when he does go. He just can't win with narrow-minded people. Like it or not, he is heavily favored by countries all over the world and is our best hope for peace and cooperative ventures which will lower oil prices.

"OBAMA TRIP HURTS U.S. ECONOMY!" – You are an ignorant fool. You are obviously a 60's mentality discriminatory oil loving republican...

The truth hurts. You will lose this fall and so will McBush.

Let me ask you. What is the state of the average american after 8 years of Bush? Honestly, the economy is a mess, inflastion is out of control, more people have died in Iraq then in ~27 year of Saddam, Global warming is affecting our world, oil is sky rocketing, people make fun of us, they hate us, jobs have been lost..

I mean you name it? We are worse off and all you want to do is criticize someone who will bring much needed change and you know you used Barack 'Hussein' Obama's name because you want to install fear in the American hearts by portraying him a muslim.
We all know is ain't a muslim, even if he were, so what? Are muslims by defualt all terrorists?

People like you make me sick. Absolutely Sick.

"In a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 48 percent of registered voters said Obama would make a good commander in chief, compared with 72 percent for his Republican rival, John McCain."

So… that adds up to 120%. Pretty efficient survey there.

    Try to follow along Brad

72% said that McCain would be a good CIC.
28% said he wouldn't be a good CIC.

48% said Obama would be a good CIC
52% said he wouldn't be a good CIC.

    Two different surveys. GOT IT?

Funny thing is, people like you sold USA in 2000.. and now the American people are buying it back.. This Election is the new way, it is a Revolution baby.... If i was you i would not use judgement and say McCain have a better one, esp since now the white house are using all the foreign policies Obama layed out in the primaries.. And so far Obama have done quit a good service to America, he have a great education, he helped the poor on east side off Chicago, got elected into IL political life and is now a senator from IL...

I can tell you where Obama's money came from, people like me, bitter American people who are feed up with people like you and the Republicans.. we gave about 68 each in the month of June, unlike McCain who got close to 900 per investment. and a nice amount of that came from McCain rape friend in TX...

Guess what Europe is a ally, just like McCain went to Europe so should Obama.. He should even visit more of the world and get an alliance going, against terrorism.. And last time McCain went to europe was to pick up money from UK..

Why should he participate in town hall meetings with “Americans”? When he can fill up a stadium and have a real audience ?? or at a College and meet the new generation of voters...

McCain has been over there eight times — the biased media did not report it — they certainly did no go with him. and why should they, he was only in there for photo ops and nothing else.. so why are you whining about Obama going ones, when McCain went 8 times ??

Stop hating yourself and come over on the good side, we have cookies...

btw. operation chaos worked fine this year, you got the weakest candidate of them all running for president, while the Dems have either the best or second best running...

May Ron Paul be with you

Another example of how screwing up in politics involves accidentally telling the truth.

I thought the Republicans were not going to let that happen anymore.
