White House sends press corps al-Maliki praise for Obama plan

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/19/art.maliki.gi.jpg caption="al-Maliki praised Obama’s 16-month withdrawal plan in a newspaper report Saturday."]CRAWFORD, TX (CNN) - An embarrassing slip up for the White House press office Saturday, when an aide hit the wrong button and mistakenly sent to the news media a Reuters article saying Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki backs presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's troop withdrawal plan.

White House spokesman Scott Stanzel says, "It was a mistake. Clips list for staff was supposed to be the addressee."

The Obama campaign quickly took advantage of the mistake, forwarding an ABC report detailing the incident to its press list.

This is not the first time the White House has emailed in error. But its timing is particularly embarrassing as the Bush administration's recent agreement with al-Maliki on a "general time horizon" for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq is being cited by some as resembling Obama's proposal that U.S. forces should leave within 16 months.

All GW Bush and McCain need to doing is to keep reading and following Obama's foreign policy program. Myabe something positive will get done for a change.
So now, Iraq wants the US out of Iraq, Britian wants out of Iraq, and of course McCain wants to stay there for 100 years.

Hey John McCain, how many times have you been in Afghanistan?

When were you last there? Seeing as how you've called for 3 brigades to be sent there, and you don't think anyone can speak with credibility about strategic actions without visiting the battle environment, how can you suggest additional troops there.

Oops! How do YOU spell incompetence? M.C.B.U.S.H.

The old guy is running around telling people he "knows how to win wars". What a joke. If he were a Marine Aviator, I might say mabye because all Marines go through initial grunt training and learn about all military specialities. But, US Navy! You gotta be kidding me. If he said "I know how to win an air war" I could say maybe. BUT, a ground war??!! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING! Grab your friendly grunt (Army or Marine Corps) and ask him if he thinks an aviator – especially Navy – knows anything about winning a ground war? (that's what Iraq and Afghanistan are, by the way). Warning; bring your ear protection because you will not want to hear the choice words that grunt will have in response to your obviously stupid question.

McBush is playing on the ignorance of the average American when it comes to military experience. I hate to say it, but Wes Clark was right. I don't even think McBush was ever a Plans Officer or Operations Officer during wartime??? Mr. McCain is sadly confused, once again.

New commercial: maybe Obama voted against paying for the war because he knew folks like McBush didn't think being shot/blown up/handicapped for life was worth a college education. I wouldn't have voted for it either.

OBAMA TRIP HURTS U.S. ECONOMY......you are a complete a-s h–e to be nice

The Obama campaign chartered a jet paid by us, the loyal contributors and gladly contribute more to defeat the fascist mc c

That piece you are talking about is up you a-, can you not feel it?

Thank God you mentioned the town halls:
I have friends in different parts of the country (U.S. of A.) and just so happenes that three of them in different town halls were paid to attend, however, after hearing mc c talk so much about our future leader Mr. Obama, the thought, this fellow must be good since we are hearing so much about him and nothing else.
Well, guess what, they contributed to the Obama campaign with the money they received from the pathetic mc c.
Eat it up, now what do you have to say REPUGNANT!

Obama knows what leadership about, something BushCo have been scrambling to appear to be capable of for 7 years.

Leadership is INSPIRING people to follow you, making them WANT to follow you, because you give them HOPE. Not demanding they follow you, simply because you're "The Decider."

Obama gets it, and America is the better for it.

The White House tries to take off the food from Obama´s plate by changing its policies towards the overall goals Obama favoured all the time. New Iran diplomacy, Irak withdrawl, strengthening Afghanistan efforts. As the current presidency is going to end it is key interest to support a putative republican successor. With McCain it would be easier for them to keep the dirt from 8 years under the carpet.

i think the real story here is the fact that THE WHITE HOUSE DIDN'T WANT TO RELEASE THIS REPORT.. if it were up to them, they would've kept this story hidden for as long as they could. They do NOT want to american people to know the truth – the entire world is beginning to support Barack Obama, his candidacy and his policies.

But the republican administration doesn't want americans to be aware of this heading into the election, lest they vote for someone who doesn't represent their wallet.

I support McCain, but if Mailiki wants us out, I think we should abide by his request.

Obama should be happy, he needs all the help he can get.

It is interesting to consider that Barack Obama could not even have gone to Iraq at this time, if the government had followed his plan in 2007. If we had pulled our troops out then, Iraq would be so unstable by now that it probably wouldn't even exist. Those who support this "empty suit" have no knowledge of how little the man has accomplished in preparation for leader of the free world.

I can't believe how our President is allowing so many people to make this many mistakes!
This election has kept my interest more so then any of the other elections.
I didn't realize how important it is to keep an eye on our President and his staff.
The Bush and Company have taken us people thru the ringer.
Gas & Food prices. Jobs & Homes, and now this!
Who is this press secretary, where did they hire them from a Temp Service. I can't believe it!
We need a new President ASAP.
Who ever it is, I pray they make better decisions then Bush & Company

It's funny how these "patriotic" bloggers are still flying the Confederate
Flag. What are you patriotic to? The United States? or Robert E. Lee?At least Obama isn't singing "Dixie" as his National Anthem.

McCain travelled many times all around the world without any reasonable outcome. Not to mention all the costs ! It is really presidential to cover many topics via one single trip like Obama does now.

Here is somthing you wont see on CNN
The article quoted al-Maliki as saying “U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes.”

Al-Dabbagh said al-Maliki’s views were “misunderstood and mistranslated” by Der Spiegel and that the prime minister backs a general vision of pulling out U.S. combat forces based on talks with Washington “and in the light of the continuing positive developments on the ground.”" Other News agency

people like "obama trip hurts u.s. economy". need to get their facts right before trying to send comments. I agree with Mike, we the people payed for McCain's trip. He said it wasn't for campaign purposes so he wouldn't have to pay for it, but I can guarentee that while he was there he did campaign (honesty ...huh). I will thank him for serving his country, but that does not make him a great president (read stories about treason in vietnam). As a woman, I have little respect for him.Not only that he wants to take my rights away, but also for the way he treated his ex wife while pursueing his present wife, Honestly..again, some people need to get their facts straight.

    Obama any day over McCai

CNN is wallowing in this non-event while the North American successor to Adolph Hitler prepares to speak at the monument erected by Adolph's successors in celebration of Germanic defeats of other European countries. A momument moved to the site by Adolph himself as a symbol of Nazi superiority. Obama has all of the signs of a modern day Hitler. Be afraid America, be very afraid.

  22. Canadian black man for Obama.

Some blogger just hate the fact that America is becoming one people and one nation.
They will blogged out of context away from the topic. How does Obama trip hut the economic? The foolish blogger failed to realized that his/her candidate McCain have travelled around the world so may times and the blogger won't mention it is his/her blog.

I have always said the some people will vote out of jealousy and not about issues that is important to the country.

They careless if the country continues down hill with another 4 years of hardship to their fellow citizen.

Shame, because this was how it started when the same people voted for Bush, now we are here struggly with gas price, housing foreclosure, weak currency and a President with lowest rating in American history.

Why can't you learn? vote for a person that share your pain and plan to do some thing about it. your vote is very important now or fail and suffer again.

If you hate Obama doesn't mean other good citizen hate him and he doesn't get his money from terrorist unless you are calling lawful America citizen terrorist. Even your candidate will never say dispeakable stuff like you, so shame on you.-------------------------------------------

Why don't they just admit Obama is right all along?

White House is doing everything Obama has planned to do when he becomes the President Of The United State Of America.

Bush is running out of option so he have to use Obama's plans. That is Okay because future belongs to next generation and Obama is young and he for the future.

    God Bless America
