Obama campaign releases, re-releases Spanish radio ad

(CNN) - Barack Obama’s campaign released a new Spanish-language radio ad Wednesday that will hit the air in battleground states with large Latino voting blocs, after mistakenly sending out an earlier script of the spot that included a reference to the Illinois senator's immigrant father.

"Some people have power and connections. But most of us have to make our own way through life,” says the announcer in “Nuestro Propio Camino.”

“This is true even for the man who could become the next President … Barack Obama. He grew up without a father — raised by his mother with the support of his grandparents. Through student loans and hard work, he graduated from college.

Listen: Obama camp details new strategy

“Obama never forgot his roots,” continues the announcer, adding that "despite the political pressure, Obama has stood with us for immigration reform and spoke out for our veterans. It’s time we had a President who understands we all deserve a chance to make our own way."

An earlier version of the script released earlier Wednesday also pointed out that “His father was an immigrant. His mother from a humble, middle class family.” In that version, the announcer added that “Obama never pulled people down as he made his way up.”

The Obama campaign said the change had not been an attempt to downplay the presumptive Democratic nominee's immigrant father. “We don’t just wipe Barack’s father, who meant so much to him, out of the campaign. An ad is an ad,” said Deputy Campaign Manager Steve Hildebrand, after being asked about the change on a conference call with reporters, adding that “there is no strategy to eliminate him by any stretch.”

A clear majority of Hispanic voters backed Hillary Clinton over Obama during the primary season, but recent polls suggest he now holds a significant lead over John McCain among this key demographic. The new ad will air in Florida, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico – states where the Hispanic vote could prove decisive this November.

Great ad, Does not bicker or attack the other campaign, just states the facts.
McCain Camp could learn a lot from OBAMA:
according to them, who's responsible for gas prices? Barack Obama, really, Is he also responsible for foreclosure crisis and the bank failures and the IRAQ war? Please enlighten us old wise McCain.

For immigrants, Obama brings up his father. For veterans, he brings up some Uncle reference. It is like an actor trying to be in all roles of movie. So much for 142 days of Senate expericence. It is strange media is casting him as the big-shot.

THe Hispanic community will understand and recognize that Senator Obama is an average politician that makes customized promises of change everywhere he goes in order to get the votes of that community.

His actions proved that he does not care about achieving or meeting his goals as the asbestos project he was involved in in Chicago shows.

Obama is moving to the center now and will sacrifice his positions with the ledt wing of the Democratic Party to appeal to the center and some right wing voters.

Is this the change we want: It is not. We do not want this arrogant person in the white house.

    Please bring back Hillary Clinton

I certainly think that Obama will be a better friend to the latino community in America than John McCain. Obama has also made some sensible points about the border fence – the fact that the physical fence cuts a Brownsville University campus in half shows you how poorly executed the plan for a fence has been so far...

Would you rather have a president who was handed everything he got, or one who made a life for himself through his own hardwork and sacrifice? Not only does Obama have the better policies and judgment, he also shares my values in this regard. That's why he gets my vote.

Apparently the ad doesn't get accurate enough to include the fact that his white maternal grandmother was a bank vice-president in Hawaii when he lived with the grandparents.....and Obama certainly wanted for nothing then. In fact, he was able to attend a prestigious and expensive high school in Hawaii.

    Get truthful, Obama!

Was for Hillary, now for McCain!

As a Latino voter, one of many I know, that most of us are now backing Sen. Obama. In my family we were split between Hillary & Obama.

We KNOW that McCain is pandering to Latinos, trying his best not to be too excited about the fence being built! And we KNOW, that the majority of the Republican base calls "illegals" immigrants that are not documented. We KNOW whose side McCain is on, though sometimes we all wonder.

McCain can not talk out of both sides of his mouth, he is either a moderate and a maverick or he is a conservative.

He can't wink at Latinos, and wink at the far-right-extremist whom he needs to support him.

He is playing both sides, hope someone notices!

  23. Latinos Para McCain

Obama, Latinos Will Not vote for you.

You have repeatedly changed your opinion on immigration issues and your website is completely misleading. You have absolutely no experience or a clue about Latino issues. McCain has repeatedly supported and spoken out for Hispanics in the military and other immigration issues.

Most Americans will not be fooled by a smoke and mirror politician saying anything he can to be elected.

    Hispanics for MCCain.
