Executed inmate makes presidential endorsement

(CNN) - Support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama extend to death row Wednesday.

According to The Jackson Clarion Ledger, a Mississippi newspaper, death row inmate Dale Leo Bishop's final words before being executed Wednesday night included an appeal to Americans to vote for the Illinois senator.

"For those who oppose the death penalty and want to see it end, our best bet is to vote for Barack Obama because his supporters have been working behind the scenes to end this practice," Bishop said, according to the paper.

Bishop was convicted in 2000 of participating in the murder of a man who was beaten to death with a claw hammer two years earlier. Bishop himself did not deliver the fatal blow and, not including contract killings, is only the eighth person executed who did not directly kill his victim since the death penalty was reinstated 32 years ago, according to the paper.

Obama himself is not explicitly against the death penalty, saying it should be reserved for "only the most heinous crimes." He also said he disagreed with a Supreme Court decision last month that struck down the death penalty for child rape.

"I have said repeatedly that I think that the death penalty should be applied in very narrow circumstances for the most egregious of crimes," Obama said then. "I think that the rape of a small child, 6 or 8 years old, is a heinous crime and if a state makes a decision that under narrow, limited, well-defined circumstances the death penalty is at least potentially applicable that that does not violate our Constitution."

He's also said he would support the death penalty for Osama bin Laden.

I am breathing today because there was not Mandatory Death Penalty for child rapists. HOWEVER, if there had been, I likely would have killed during or immediately following the rape when I was 7 years old. I adamantly oppose Mandatory Death Penalty for childhood rapists. They should receive a life sentence: Never again to walk the streets in freedom, but join the General Population of criminals so restricted.

Yawn, almost every inmate is a Democrat.

Per person there are more rapes, burglery, murders, and auto-theft in blue counties than red ones.

Oh and someone mentioned child molestors, remember which political party was stands up for NAMBLAs rights? Here's a clue, its the one who tried to take the rights away from Americans for simply being Christian.

Spend time in a red country Vs a blue one, there is a big difference in the way people act toward each other.

It really is no wonder why liberal Democrats despise the facts so much.

Interesting how anyone would care about the rights, thoughts and opinions of murderers and rapists. They believe that Obama as President will grant them more rights and freedoms. Just a sidenote. Take it as you want it.

McCain Lies: Obama was never a Law Professor, in fact he was never a Professor of anything. He was only a practicing attorney and worked for the famous crook Rezko that's where he learned how to wheel and deal dirty underhanded politics. You evidently don't know what he did to the woman running against him. He is as low as you can get. Yes, he has a big smile and giant white teeth but that doesn't fool me. Its people like you that would fall for a sweet smile and a pat on the back. I don't fall for his copied speeches from RFK's book and the copied speech from JFK when he was in Berlin. Obama is so stupid for a Harvard graduate he cannot do anything for himself without using the words of others.

Listen up people, I am an Obama supporter and would like nothing more than for him to be the next President. That being said, and you can quote me, OBAMA WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT! The powers that be will not allow that to happen, either through election rigging or (god forbid) ‘taking him out’.
The question is, when this happens, what will you people do? Will you be good little sheep or will you make a stand?

    CNN, probably won't print this

I like all the "Even murderers support that dastardly Obama!" cries despite the fact that the article explicitly states he wasn't the one who killed the guy.

Of course Obama is happy to let all the child rapists and murderers go free.... because he and the rest of the liberal loonies would rather be focusing on killing the unborn children!

Phil said: "Who cares, we all have a right to vote and express our political beliefs why should it be any different for this man. Judge and you will be judged."

Just a slight correction; we may all have the right to express our political beliefs, but not everyone can vote. (e.g. convicted felons can't vote in many states.)

Where in the United States Constitution does it say that ANYONE running for President needs or has to have ANY experience? It says you have to be 35 or older and have been born in the United States or one of its "territories"....

I wish people would stop harping on the "experience" factor... It IS a on the job learning experience.. Being a Gov or Senator you have about 1/10th the responsibility that the President has... His schedule is a lot busier than that of a Senators or Govs.... The stresses of the job of President will kill McCain.. He has to be steadied when he walks down steps or stairs by nurse Cindy...

The death penalty works! There has never yet been a person who was executed for committing a murder, who has gone out and committed another murder.

CNN this is very low even for you. You don't even get the direct quote from the man himself but you are quoting someone else knowing the effects these kinds of stories have in our country. Your reporting is totally irresponsible. CNN used to the best News Network, now you are sinking lower than FoxNews

As for hater like "fella from Chicago" you are even lower than CNN

"It does not surprise me because McCain does not mind killing our kids in a pointless war"

Yeah that make sense, being that McCain's children HAVE FOUGHT IN IRAQ.

Oh, you didn't know that, did you? See McCain is not a liberal Democrat so he never mentions it. If Obama had a son who served his nation, it would be included in his every speech.

This is the difference between the right and left. The right walks the walk, the left is nothing but bulls..t talk!!!

It's all Bush's fault!!! He got us into this mess, bla, bla, bla.

For those of you whining about CNN printing this article...they didn't MAKE the news they just REPORTED the news. This certainly makes it interesting, now doesn't it.

By-the-way...the less the United States is like Canada the better. All the more reason to keep the death penalty and no universal health care/HillaryCare.

Now we know why the Democrats want to get convicted felons their rights to vote back.

Every American in favour of the death penalty wants to hope that some incompetent person or corrupt law enforcement person doesn't find them guilty of a crime they didn't commit. To think this isn't possible is not to think at all!

Murder is murder and it doesn't matter who commits it whether it is a citizen or the state the victim is still just as dead with no chance of being saved.

To take another persons life is barbaric and to do this has no place in today's modern societies.

Who does everyone think should be executed for the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children that have been killed?

Kim: What have you been reading. Aren't you aware of the fact that he studies the speeches of JFK, MLK and RFK. Where do you think he got the words hope and change. They were in one of RFK's speeches and it was shown on the internet. Where do you think he got the speech for Berlin? He read JFK's and added some extra words. Wake up. He is the biggest copycat of any candidate that ran for office of the president of this country. How did he ever managed to graduate from Harvard. Obama is out to make history for himself and himself only not for the country. He stated he is proud to be an American Citizen? If so, why was he a racist, hated white people and anti-american along with Michele? Why did he attend a racist church for 20 years. Because he loved America? You bettter get a grip on life and screen Obama better. He is a liar, fake and very underhanded and tendencies of becoming a dictator if elected. Never forget he is half Kenyan not American black and half white. He is what you call a Mulatto although the media is afraid to state that.
