Obama calls on citizens around world to stand together

(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday challenged people to look to Berlin as an example of what can be accomplished when nations come together to tackle global challenges.

"This city, of all cities, knows the dream of freedom. And you know that the only reason we stand here tonight is because men and women from both of our nations came together to work, and struggle, and sacrifice for that better life," he said before a massive crowd at Berlin's Victory Column.

Watch: Obama says the world needs to unite as one

Obama introduced himself as a "proud citizen of the United States and a fellow citizen of the world."
Thousands gathered for Obama's highly anticipated speech - an event the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said was not a "political rally."

Oh, I hate that I'm at work and I can't watch his speech, but I'm going to go home for lunch. It's worth the gas price.

  11. What garbage

You Obama supporters act like this man is some kind of God with your fairy tale comments about him. He is going to change the world's image????? Just how is he going to do that – here in the US of A we don't even know what he stands for. He will not debate McCain "the little coward" – he says nothing but talk, talk, talk, blah, blah, blah. He walks around all cocky and chewing gum like some hood from Chicago whenever I see him on TV. He is full of himself put offers nothing to all of us. All of you must be brainwashed in some way – you simply cannot be that stupid on your own.

  12. CommonSense

I would rather vote with someone who has a vision for the future, intelligence and obvious common sense, than for someone who is stuck on tirades from the past, and demands for recognition of marginal success in a senseless and costly war.

I'll take intelligence over years of experience anyday.

Man that was an amazing speech. I'm glad I'm not the only way who had tears in their eyes.

Obama has clearly demonstrated his leadership skills within and outside the US. He has demonstrated that he can bring this country back and turn around what the Bush Adminstration have destroyed.

It's refreshing to think that we almost have a leader that is again respected around the world. These foreign nations are our friends and if you take a step back and listen to how they are trashing our country and how ticked off they are at the US right now, you would understand that we desperately need someone to make amends and repair the damage that Bush and his administration has caused. Our reputation has been severely damaged and we need to back in good standing. Obama is the leader to do just that!

    Go Obama!

Just heard Obama's speech in Berlin. It was Excellent!! He was cheered, got loads of applause, the people loved him. There was over 100, 000. in the audience. One of the things he expressed was how much he loved the U.S.A. His trip over seas is definitely a big success. We Love You Obama. Barack Obama for President of the U.S.A. 08

And the Angels came down from heaven and said "Praise the almighty one" the unity of the world... and as Obama left the crowds followed him down the hole of the abyss.

Does anyone else see the signs or is it just me.

God help the United States if this man gets elected. It is obvious to me what his plans are for my country and I don't like it.

Wake up America before it is too late.

I mean really. Who wants a President that wants to work with other countries to form a better, safer, and more peaceful world? I mean the McCain plan of invading soverign countries and taking their treasure while destroying their dignity really sounds like a plan we should get behind. That is if he can ever get his facts right about....well about anything.

It is a shocking indictment of Bush's education policies that so many people cannot begin to distinguish empty rhetoric from a great thoughtful speech.
