JERUSALEM (CNN) - The rabbi who supervises Jerusalem's Western Wall condemned the removal of a prayer note purportedly written by Sen. Barack Obama, saying the action was "sacrilegious."

The U.S. presidential candidate visited the holy site early Thursday and placed a note in the cracks of the wall - a custom of visitors.

It was subsequently removed from the wall, according to the Israeli newspaper, Ma'ariv, which printed what it said were the contents of the note.

Ma'ariv said a seminary student gave the note to the paper.

Obama's senior strategist Robert Gibbs told CNN, "We haven't confirmed nor denied" that the note is from the Illinois senator.

"This sacrilegious action deserves sharp condemnation and represents a desecration of the holy site," said Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, who supervises the Western Wall, in a statement.

Obama is a shoe in to be the next president. I just don't understand it about those McCain supporters who bash Obama. What do they see in McCain to become the next president? That would be like electing another Bush as president. That would be naive to vote for another Bush when our economy is failing dramatically, gas prices too high, and soldiers getting killed overseas, due to our current commander in chief.

As if Obama didn't know that someone of the many, many camera crews were going to go read the note and release it for a nominal fee to the press.

I watched this over and over. Everytime there is an African American males show some confidence and who is intelligent, why does he have to be "arrogant". This happens over and over again.

Senator Obama, prayed the prayer that many need to pray daily. Asking the Lord, to guard their mind and thoughts. If you have never prayed this prayer, we need to ask for forgivest daily. It was wrong to publish Senator Obama's prayer; however it is the prayer I pray daily. Asking the Lord to make me a better person and the instrument of his peace.

The Constitution of the United States

Article VI, Section 3: “...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”

"My own mind is my own church. All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit." Thomas Paine

From a letter to Charles Cushing (October 19, 1756):
“Twenty times in the course of my late reading, have I been upon the point of breaking out, ‘this would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it.’” John Adams

Letter to William Bradford, April 1, 1774:
"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise" James Madison

Letter to his nephew, Peter Carr, August 10, 1787
"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." Thomas Jefferson

Some of you on this blog site are just downright mean, hateful, spiteful, and despicable. How dare you suggest that this was orchestrated on Senator Obama's part. Why, pray tell, would Senator Obama pay off someone to steal this prayer? With all of the turncoats in this country and abroad, the young man could have turned on him at any time and blown his cover. Do you know how detrimental that would be to his candidacy and to his position as U.S. Senator in the event that he is defeated? Come on now think (If that is possible for some of you) Quite frankly, I think that many of you are just braindead and you PUMA fools are really going to know what defeat is. Senator Obama did not cheat his way to the nomination, he did not steal it either. He had help not only from Washington, DC but across the country. Get over it. This was not staged. It is what it is. Senator Obama has managed to once again maintain dignity in the face of a negative situation. Love this man. For his haters, GET OVER IT!!!!!

I wonder just how the Republican bloggers will manage to turn this into a negative for Obama. Reading some of the ridiculous and vicious comments from McCain supporters with nothing to do with the facts. Just plain hate will get you right where you are now or a bit worse off.

You know God don't like ugly and he don't care for Beauty either. The man is here to help us change things in Washington. People with there hatred need to take a step back and look at what is going on. We need a change , and we are going to have a change. Let them throw everything they can throw at him. What ever they do will not stand. They are afraid that he can do a better job then they could, so they are going to say and do anything to try and bring him down. My prayer is with him and his family.

Those Obama haters who are foolishly claiming that taking the note was a stunt set up by the Obama campaign need to take their Prozac. You hate the guy so much you can't see how stupid you are being. Shameful. You obviously despise the man, so your comments lack all credibility. You are just wasting space.

Obama is probably the most popular U.S. politician since Bill Clinton. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Get used to seeing people fawn all over our future POTUS.
