Rabbi: Removal of Obama's purported prayer note 'sacrilegious'

JERUSALEM (CNN) - The rabbi who supervises Jerusalem's Western Wall condemned the removal of a prayer note purportedly written by Sen. Barack Obama, saying the action was "sacrilegious."
The U.S. presidential candidate visited the holy site early Thursday and placed a note in the cracks of the wall - a custom of visitors.
It was subsequently removed from the wall, according to the Israeli newspaper, Ma'ariv, which printed what it said were the contents of the note.
Ma'ariv said a seminary student gave the note to the paper.
Obama's senior strategist Robert Gibbs told CNN, "We haven't confirmed nor denied" that the note is from the Illinois senator.
"This sacrilegious action deserves sharp condemnation and represents a desecration of the holy site," said Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, who supervises the Western Wall, in a statement.

Jeff, I am sick to death of you and every other envious jerk that continues to call Obama arrogant in such an insulting way. Is it just possible that what you see as arrogance is actually poise, self confidence and self awareness? If he wasn't proud, I'd be stunned. He has much to be proud of. If you want arrogance without the substance, look to McCain. Look over his life, a life of privilege, opportunism, backstabbing and dishonor. Study his life history, then study Obama's. I did, with an open mind. Making the choice for Obama was easy.
McCain would have made an okay president in 2000, but in the intervening 8 years he has become twisted, playing both ends against the middle. I know because I've studied him every step of the way. Obama may not be the answer to my prayers, but McCain doesn't even come close.
It is fascinating to see how moronic people on this blog will attribute anything to some huge conspiracy by the Obama camp to make him look a certain way. Give it a rest already. If you dislike Obama but have no real reason, just be an adult and admit it. You may look like a fool but conjuring ridiculous reasons out of every piece of news you see has gotten old incredibly fast. I have seen people waiver between him being too 'arrogant' to being a 'victim'. Which one is it??? He did not deserve to have his prayer read by anyone. That was so disrespectful and may God have mercy on the soul of whomever violated his privacy.
How would anyone know which was Sen. Obama's prayer note among the many stuffed into the same spot? Were they all read at the same time?

Oh. And the Muslim thing?? If Americans are so dimwitted that they cannot believe something that is flat in their FACE then maybe we deserve a stupid candidate like McCain for president. Many of you are just too prejudiced and uneducated to understand that if the many is a Christian- he is NOT A MUSLIM. Being Black does not make you a Muslim. Having the middle name Hussein does not make you a Muslim. Going to a Christian church, being brought up with Christian values, calling yourself a Christian pretty much says you are definitely not a Muslim.
CNN, I am convinced that you do not moderate, you screen (just to make it look like the comments are somewhat balanced). For a person to attack a man after reading this prayer shows a lack of faith. Those that attack have faith issues. True Christian values involve valuing everyone (the unborn and the BORN). Some republicans are some of the most hypocritical religious people around. They hate..which should be blasphemy to their lips and their hearts, but it isn't. It isn't blasphemy because they fully agree with the hatred, war, dishonesty and corruption. All the while appearing to stand for morals by standing on the Abortion and Gay Marriage soapbox. What about the two greatest commandments? Love God first. and your neighbor second. They claim to know God, but do they really?
