[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/28/art.moveon.cnn.jpg caption="Moveon is hitting the airwaves with a new ad."](CNN) – A liberal advocacy group is targeting young voters in a new political television ad that promotes Barack Obama’s presidential bid set to run on MTV and Comedy Central. While MoveOn.org never states Obama’s name in the ad, it uses a campaign slogan the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee often repeats on the campaign trail: “Hope.”
“Hope: It Could Happen to You,” parodies advertisements frequently directed to younger television viewers about the ill effects of drug use and abuse. Instead, of trying to scare its target audience away from making it a habit to use drugs, the ad suggests that Obama’s message of hope is a positive habit.
MoveOn.org announced Monday that it will spend $150,000 to run the ad for one week on both networks, which cater to younger voters.
Last week, MTV aired its first ever political ad, according to a report by MTV News. “Both Ways Barack,” targeted Sen. Barack Obama and suggested the presumptive Democratic nominee holds inconsistent positions on various issues at the same time.

Hope as a postive virus...novel concept. I do hope, however, that the Obama camp is not banking on the youth vote. Every election that has ever occurred shows very poor demographics for young voters.
lol – people just don't get it! The more you shove Obama down throats, the less people will vote for him. We've seen enough about HOPE!
Obama will not have my vote... you better keep hoping for it come November with millions of Americans that feel the same way.
that add in the stuff that makes presidents
rider strong!!!
Keep them coming because mccain and the repuglicans are doing any and everything to LIE to America just to get mccain elected. Whenever people resort to the negative they have nothing else. Barack has managed to stay positive while all we hear from john is bashing and criticizing.
Yah, this ad makes a lot of sense. McCain: A vote for despair. Don't let Hope get to you like it did me.
I LOVE IT!!!!
Pretty silly ad, IMHO.
If this actually appeals to twenty-somethings, I’ll no longer have to wonder why I can’t relate to kids today.
Hope springs eternal in the human breast. Not exactly breaking news.
A few predictions for reality impaired people:
1) Obama will likely be elected president.
2) He will be subject to the same limitations as any other holder of the office (see article one and two of the U.S. Constitution).
3) George W. Bush will simply go back to Crawford at the end of his term. He will not be charged with any crimes, just as he has not been impeached.
4) No matter who is elected president there will be enemies of the United States, who could care less which party is in office, who will seek to hurt us.
5) Day to day life in the United States will be more or less the same in 2012 as it is now.
You're going to have to make your message much more obvious than that for the MTV crowd....those airheads will never figure this one out.
Love the ad! We need SOME hope with the DISASTER that Bush/Cheney & Co., are leaving us! $10 TRILLION IN NATIONAL DEBT.
WE are making payments to the tune of $200 BILLION!
THE BUSH/CHENEY PEOPLE JUST RELEASED THE DEFICIT NUMBER FOR 2009: $490 BILLION........NOT.......COUNTING THE ADDITIONAL $80 BILLION THEY NEED FOR THE IRAQ WAR!
But you, conservatives, go ahead and vote for more of the same with good old McCain. GOD HELP US!
It's moveon.org aka George Soros – The real power of the democrat party.
GO OBAMA!
EVEN REBUBLICANS LOVE YOU!
I've seen it and it is soooooo uplifting compared to the depressing ads the republicans run. Times they are a changing!!! Out with old and in with the new. Go Obama!!
If the candidate wins and can't deliver, its the end of the Democratic Party and the demise of the American media, who will have no credibility to stand on.
If anybody thinks any of our allies or enemies overseas will be crying their eyes out over that, I have got news for you.
FISA leaves me with plenty of doubt.
The Swift Boat Is Coming For You Mccain . . . Have Your Ticket Ready!
sounds good to me!
Will young people even understand the ad given that the original egg in the frying pan ad is 20 years old?
Who gives a fresh pile of dog squeeze what bad actors want you to do. Liberals.
NOW THAT'S CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.
“Hope: It Could Happen to You,” I THINK WHAT THEY MEAN WITH "HOPE" MEANS SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT...
UNITED WE'RE STRONGER
OBAMA (P) & CLINTON (VP) 2008-2014
NO TO "BUSH II", "McWAR", "BUSH'S-INTENT-FOR-2ND-PARADE-IN-IRAQ"
Best commercial yet – "Playground Politics"
see it on You Tube
Not sure who did but it is brilliant!
It will likely win an award – very postive – puts nobody down!
To the Obama advisors.
This is the kind of stuff that will win you elections.
Don't stoop to "their" low standards nor the disgrace that they bring to "democracy".
In the "free world" we are all better than that....
I got it from my wife just about a year or more ago. I couldn't help myself once it got hold of me. It turns out that it's contagious. Now my kids and several friends have it too.
Gotta keep those college kiddies involved in politics to make sure Obama at least has a chance.
SADLY THE PEOPLE THAT VOTED FOR BUSH & WILL
VOTE FOR MCBUSH IN, ARE HURT THE MOST BY THEIR
ECONOMIC POLICIES, NOT ME. THE EDUCATED & WEALTHY
HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER WITH BUSH, BUT KNOW THAT
IN THE LONG RUN, WE WILL LOSE OUR ECONOMIC EDGE
FOR EVER, IF WE CONTINUE ON OUR FAILED ROAD.
