Clinton holds 'retirement dinner' contest

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/29/art.dinner-with-hillary.jpg caption="Clinton's campaign advertises a chance to win dinner with the senator."]

(CNN) – No, she’s not leaving politics, but she is still trying to retire more than $25 million of campaign debt.

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s Web site is advertising a contest to win a summer “retirement dinner” with the former presidential contender. The price for a chance to win is a contribution to her creditors.

“Summer is a time for simple pleasures: family vacations, baseball games, and dinner out under the stars,” Clinton’s e-mail to supporters says. “At least it is if you aren't running for president! It sure is nice having a little more time on my hands, and I'd love to spend some of it with you.”

Those interested in helping Clinton retire the debt can pay from $10 to more than $2,300 for a chance to win the dinner and “talk about whatever you’d like.” The campaign’s site doesn’t say where the winner will dine with the senator, but it mentions that round-trip transportation and the total value may run $3,000.

According to the latest filing with the Federal Elections Commission, as of June 30 Clinton is $25 million in debt, over $13 million of which is owed to herself.

First of Lisa you are an idiot crybaby, that's why we clown on you and your Hillarites fellow groupies. Okay, Hillary let me help you out here, If I get a credit card, max out the credit card, why should my friend help me pay my credit card off? Sounds like an accountability issue, no pund intended. I will echo many others, an alledge 18 mill voted for Billary, don't all you have 2 bucks to lend your lovable loser? Oh that's right, you numb nuts may have already gave it to McCain out of spite. Well, get ready American for our next and 44th President of the United States, President Barack Obama, there are more people who love him, than there a people who hate his skin. Now go have a bake sale Hillarites and help your girl out.

OMG is the LISA person on this comment board an idiot or what? I mean really HRC needs to go pay her debt herself because if she wasn't so stubborn and dropped out the primary when she knew she didn't stand a chance, she wouldn't have this debt. I mean really is that mis management or what!!! Oh and for all you folks who don't want to support Obama so be it!!!
I just know that I'm going to feel a lot better knowing that I didn't help cause it by voting for a Republican!!!

. . . .so how come the "If not Hillary, then McCain" supporters are not helping her out.

    Or are they just wimps?

Oh wait, they're really Repugs incognito.

Who cares! No more Clintons, EVER! Down with the idiot PUMA coalition! Down with McCain and the entire GOP (Greedy Old People)! Go Obama! Make us able to wave the flag with pride again! I love my country, but have been pretty ashamed of the politics of deception that has been the cornerstone of Bush's "legacy". Hillary doesn't deserve a dime of anyone's hard-earned money. She came close to destroying this election which would have left a sizable percentage of Americans bewildered and disenchanted, yet again!

Yeah – I'm with Charlie. I'd pay not to have to hear from the Clintons again. And if I won, I'd give her the night off. No way do I want to have dinner with that train wreck.

I hope McCain is elected. Then he can help get Roe v. Wade overturned. I don't think women should be allowed to make their own health decisions.

Hillary supporters will continue to bash Obama as much as they can as long as Hillarys debt remains. Obama just says what he needs to say to try and drain all the Hillary supporters of their funds. His supporters care less if Hillary pays off her debt or not. cheep skates and liers everyone of them. Can't trust a word they or their mixed blood messiah Oreo says.

CNN Moderators: Why did my post get hung up? What was so offensive in it? Especially compared to the hate from all sides that you publish daily?

I wanted to try to come back to your blogs since it's been a several weeks since I posted. Is there no difference of opinion to be had here anymore? Would it have been better if I tried to insult someone?

If you want to play YOU gotta pay.
I advise all those Hillary supporters that are going to vote for McCain or are staying home in November to call the good senator and Email him profusely. I am sure he will gladly bail your candidate out!
If not, I am sure when McCain is President the first thing he will do is write off Hillary's debt while enthusiastically promoting her HealthCare plan!
    Be smart and vote
    Obama in 08!

What on God's green earth does paying down Hillary's debt have to do with Michelle Obama saying she "had to think about voting for Hillary" during the primaries? As I recall, Hillary said cruel things about Barack.

Stick to the point of the article. Are you going to donate? Probably not. You're just one of the sour puss PUMA's, all blog and no action.

  23. Just wondering

Since both Hillary and Obama are on Judicial Watch's 2007 List of Top 10 Corrupt Politicians...why are any of us Americans voting for them? If we vote for corruption...we will get more corruption! McCain is currently breaking campaign finance laws...you are not going to get any "change" with any of these candidates. Until we Americans wise up and ONLY vote for decent Americans, then we will only continue the downward spiral we've been in......just my opinion....
