Clinton holds 'retirement dinner' contest

(CNN) – No, she’s not leaving politics, but she is still trying to retire more than $25 million of campaign debt.

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s Web site is advertising a contest to win a summer “retirement dinner” with the former presidential contender. The price for a chance to win is a contribution to her creditors.

“Summer is a time for simple pleasures: family vacations, baseball games, and dinner out under the stars,” Clinton’s e-mail to supporters says. “At least it is if you aren't running for president! It sure is nice having a little more time on my hands, and I'd love to spend some of it with you.”

Those interested in helping Clinton retire the debt can pay from $10 to more than $2,300 for a chance to win the dinner and “talk about whatever you’d like.” The campaign’s site doesn’t say where the winner will dine with the senator, but it mentions that round-trip transportation and the total value may run $3,000.

According to the latest filing with the Federal Elections Commission, as of June 30 Clinton is $25 million in debt, over $13 million of which is owed to herself.

Hillary can't be trusted. So anybody who donates $10. dollars can kiss that chance good-bye. She wants your money and that’s it. She does not want to spend one second with a $10. donor. However, if you donate more, you might get a chance.

Her debt should not be "retired" or paid by the average taxpayer because:
-She had an opportunity to drop out of the race when it was MATHEMATICALLY impossible
-She boasted that she was "just getting started after PA, and that she was having fun"
-She threw her base under the bus, which would have made a difference in her bid to become president.
-Her team was vicious and taught the GOP how to run against Barack by going "racial".

Got to run, I'm sending a check to Obama.

Blame it on the media. She wasted her money by hiring high paid Washington ppl. Obama was smart and ran an efficient campaign. Sorry Hillary... we loved Bill but now you are on your own.

Maybe hillary should get it straight with PUMA, because they still want to have her on the ballot at the convention, and scheme to have more delegates than Obama. So she can win the nomination. I think people will try to help her once she gives up the delegates. Until then hillary, suffer baby, suffer!

I guess Lisa and her ilk won't be happy until John McCain is President and his Supreme Court appointees have overruled Roe v. Wade . . . .

Pround Dem, I was just thinking the same thing. I just might fork over a 10 spot so I can sit across from her and ask her why she insisted on dividing the democratic party like she did. This is such an important election. She should be ashamed of herself for being so selfish.

I guess I was wrong about 'her royal highness'.. It was never about power, it was just about the money. She and Bubba have to get their wealth back up to that 109 million mark.

Hillary is a rich beggar she and her husband have over 100 Million in the bank and very expensive houses, but she still want money from the poor Americans who are struggling to have food on the table for their families and those unemployeed, I tell you this woman would take from the homeless if you let her.

If each one of her so called 18M+ PUMA supporters donated $5 – $10 she would easily be out of debt. I saw on the news where they had a happy hour in Washington and people traveled from miles and miles in order to sit around and drink and bash Obama and get a little TV time. I'm sure Hilary would have appreciated them donating the money from that happy hour instead PUMA made the choice to travel to a happy hour and spew their woes over her not being the Democractic nominee all over TV. I like Hilary but because of her crazy supporters she won't see a dime from me.

Not happening! I wouldn't give her a penny, nor would I like to ruin my meal listening to her Bosnia trip or whatever other lies she would tell. Also, she's a millionaire. She makes more money in a year than most American make in a lifetime. But I'm supposed to bail her out of debt? Don't hold your breathe.
Why not have all of your faithful clownish PUMA idoit supporters pay your debt off? Oh I get it, your supporters are just like you; all talk and no action. . . .GET REAL!

Let's see here ... Pay $10-2300 and get a $3000 dinner package. Well, I guess that explains the debt right there, doesn't it?
Isn't this the kind of accounting practices that got her into debt in the first place? And this woman wanted to manage our economy?!

I’ve been an Obama supporter 110% and contributed to Clinton's campaign to help pay down her debt. I didn’t like how Clinton acted during the primaries but at the end of the day democratic need to come together during a time of need. Despite the attacks of PUMA and organizations and Clinton supporters alike, if you want this country back on track you will do what is best for this country and vote for Obama.

I hope that the Clinton supporters that insist on voting for McCain will see the errors in their reasoning before it's to late. Please don’t punish our country because your candidate of choice did get the nomination.
