Ted Stevens is expected to be indicted this afternoon by a federal grand jury, CNN has learned. A government source and a source familiar with the investigation would not tell CNN what charges are expected to be filed against the Alaska Republican.

Stevens has been the subject of a wide-ranging federal investigation focusing on Alaska state lawmakers and an Energy company in the state.

Steven's Alaska home was searched last July.

Watch: Stevens' home gets raided

FBI and Internal Revenue Service agents searched Stevens' Alaska home in July 2007 in connection with the probe, which has already snared two oil-company executives and a state lobbyist. At the time, he urged constituents "not to form conclusions based upon incomplete and sometimes incorrect reports in the media."

The 84-year-old senator is a former chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and is renowned for his prowess in steering federal funds to his vast, sparsely populated state. He has represented Alaska in Washington since 1968 and is up for re-election in November.

Republicans and Bush administration officials under indictment and/or investigation – let's review: Tom Delay, Bill Frist, Scooter Libby, Jack Abramoff, Randy Cunningham, Robert Kjellander, James Tobin, Brent Wilkes, Larry Craig, and now Ted Stevens. And, I'll bet my next paycheck I've missed a few names. My goodness the line-up is getting bigger every day. Now all we need is to send Bush to Geneva to stand trial for war crimes.

IF HE IS INNOCENT, LET HIM PROVE IT. IF HIS IS GUILTY LET HIM GET WHAT ANY ODRINARY CITIZEN. NO POLITICIAN DESERVES
ANY MORE OR ANY LESS THEN ANY CITIZEN OF THE U.S. MOST POLITICIANS THINK THEY THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW AND THINK THEY CAN DO ANYHTING, ANYTIME THEY WANT. LOOK WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR COUNTRY DURING THE LAST 7 AND A HALF YEARS BECAUSE THE MAN AT THE TOP THINKS HE IS ABOVE THE LAW AND DOES NOT HAVE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Say it is not so – another of the high and mighty moral group known as the REPUBLICANS gets to take a Perp Walk – These people actually make me want to throw up – But of course we the tax payers will keep right on paying this crook for years to come while he pleads his case and then in the end he will take a plea and get to keep all his retirement from you quest it the tax payers. I say if he is found guilty or takes a plea deal he should lose all government benefits. But my quess is that all other politicians will then come to his aid in order to protect there on stuff. What a mess we have in WAshington DC – If we have any hope of fixing all the wrong stuff we must get control back to the people and away from Washington Insiders. Keep the faith as I believe better times are coming in November – stick with OBAMA and move solid control of both houses to DEMOCRATS.

All politicians are crooked. This is not a only limited to republicans. As for pork-barrel spending, try the 94 year old democrat Robert Byrd. He is the king of pork. For the McCain voters, Phil Gram, his economic advisor is responible for the mortgage crisis. He was instrumental in the deregulation. Anything to get a big chunk of money!

This is like a third world country the way corruption has cripled this goverment and its adminstration. Why are so many republican leaders corrupt? because the supporters vote for them just based on abortion, and so called "conservative views". This is what we get, nothing but corruption and bribery from these so called leaders. SHAME on corrupt REPUBLICAN LEADERS!!!!
