Stevens: I'm innocent
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sen. Ted Stevens on Tuesday denied lying about receiving gifts from an Alaska-based energy company on whose behalf he intervened in Washington. He had been indicted on seven counts hours earlier.
"I have never knowingly submitted a false disclosure form required by law as a U.S. senator," he said in a written statement posted in his Web site.
"I am innocent of these charges and intend to prove that," he said.
im sure, and that $500,000,000 brigde to nowhere came with no strings?

I don't have any facts but I am taking bets and giving odds that he took gifts and is probably guilty of several other crimes he is not being charged with.
I have a very low opinion of Congress and the larceny that makes them all millionaires.

Senator TED STEVENS is the longest STANDING REPUBLICAN SENATOR IN THE SENATE, WHO HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF LYING AND FALSIFYING HIS SENATE DISCLOSURE INFORMATION FORM REGARDING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY HE RECEIVED IN GIFTS FROM THE ALASKA BASED ENERGY COMPANY, AS WELL AS OTHER GIFTS HE RECEIVED IN EXCESS OF $250,000. Senator Ted Stevens only reported receiving $850.00 on the disclosure form he attested to and submitted. There is a 7 count indictment against him, but the most serious charge has not been placed against him, YET.
Now, I ASK YOU AMERICA, do we really want another REPUBLICAN in the PRESIDENT'S office for not only 4 more years, but for any time! We can't get Dubya out of there fast enough, and we MUST PREVENT McSURGE from getting in there. And, SURGENT McSURGE has the nerve to have a commercial running in battlegound states, implying that Senator Obama is responsible for high gas prices because he opposes drilling. For those who need enlightening to the facts, Senator Obama opposes drilling in the protected area and in new areas. BIG OIL COMPANIES have not even attempted to drill in the areas they are already leasing. And, there is not evidence that drilling will produce oil immediately, or lower gas prices, or free us from our dependence on oil! As he says, we must find alternative fuel sources, cleaner energy, more efficient cars and freedom from dependence on foreign oil. Another idea folks, it to tap into the MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF strategic oil reserve we ALREADY HAVE ON HAND......YA' THINK?
BOTTOM LINE McSURGE, WE KNOW WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIGHER GAS PRICES, AND IT IS NOT SERNATOR OBAMA AS YOUR COMMERCIAL SAYS, BUT IT IS "REPUBLICANS, REPUBLICANS, REPUBLICANS!!!"
