Obama camp launches response ad to 'Celeb'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/30/art.ad.cnn.jpg caption="A new Obama ad hits back at McCain."](CNN) - Barack Obama's campaign launched a new television ad Wednesday night declaring John McCain has taken the "low road" over the course of the presidential campaign - a direct response to the Arizona senator's television spot released earlier in the day likening Obama to celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

"He’s practicing the politics of the past," the ad's narrator says as headlines from various medial outlets stating McCain has gone negative flash across the screen.

"John McCain. Same old politics, same failed policies," the ad's narrator also says.

Earlier: McCain camp links Obama to big celebs

McCain's ad, released earlier Wednesday declares Obama "the biggest celebrity in the world," while flashing images of both Hilton and Spears.

"But is he ready to lead? With gas prices soaring, Barack Obama says no to offshore drilling and says he'll raise taxes on electricity. Higher taxes, more foreign oil - that's the real Obama," the ad's narrator says while crowds screaming, "Obama!" are shown.

The McCain ad is the latest in a string of hard-hitting television commercials from the McCain campaign. Earlier spots suggest Obama is playing politics with the Iraq war, is against funding American troops and bears some of the responsibility for high gas prices.

UPDATE: Tucker Bounds, spokesman for the McCain campaign, released the following statement in response to the Obama campaign's new "Low Road" ad: "Pointing out your opponent’s worldwide celebrity is not the ‘low road,' and neither is pointing out that he opposes oil drilling and supports higher taxes.”

John McCain is so not with it that he has no real way to combat Obama's intelligence and popularity except to attack the very traits that set Obama so apart from him. The trouble with that strategy is that it only works with Idiots whose only response is "Yeah, man, youse is right!"

McCain has to deplete his campaign's fund before he gets PAC money but not used wisely. McCain shots himself on the foot again and again like always. He has no idea he is running for the highest office. Non relevant subjects are poping up in his campaign. Same old stuff (Bushism), any questions?

McCain can only issue negetive PERSONAL ads because he has no platform to issue. His first stage dementia can only repeat IRAQ-SURGE-IRAQ-SURGE. He can,t remember from on moment to the next what he is talking about and admittley doesn,t know economics, what else can he do? He is green with envy at the YOUNG, VISIONARY, All he can offer is the same as we have had for the last eight years. We are at the bottom now, another eight or four years of
republication goverment , wewill never recover.

    @ Brandon the PUMA

lol…oh Brandon….Hillary is not a part of this topic, so leave your PUMA fantasies of victim Hillary at the door. You are just as bitter and old sounding as your rebound candidate Mr MaGoo. You just have to infect every topic like some germ.

Like any jilted lover, you'll just fall out of love with John 'Drill and Surge" McCain when you realize how high school you are being and how far away from your values he is. But, hey its a free country do what you like.
Your PUMA threats are meaningless yet entertaining. Be a man, Brandon and help pay Hillary's debts. She needs you and you abndoned her.

    Brandon Hillary,

The precise problem is that the media does not do this for John McCain. Look at how he gets away with basic mistakes: mixing Sunnis and Shiites, and saying that Iraq and Pakistan border each other.
And this is what all of his "foreign policy experience" got him?

It sounds to me like the truth hits close to home and Obama is crying as usual. " WAAAAAAA!!! Mc Cain's being mean to me, WAAAAAAAAA", and all you suckers are falling right in line feeling bad for poor Obama. Put down the kool-aid and open your eyes!

Not only is Cindy more like Paris Hilton, but there's McCain's daughter being a celebrity in Glamour magazine. McSurge really is clueless and worse, so is his campagin (it'd be really nice to see you publish one of my comments CNN a/k/a Fox News).

This kind of ad is soooooooooooo childish!!!!! Who's writing this stuff? And McCain is crazy to approve it! He's green with envy of Obama's youth. He's a senior citizen and can't stand it.

They deny that comparing him to Paris and Britney is not low???

Then why do it? Just a public service annoucement?

    Are we really thrat dumb?

It's hilarious to see McCain unravel!

I can hardly wait until they begin their debates. Then we will see Obama become THE LEADER that he is destined to be. John McCain will not be able to go toe to toe with Obama.

This is why I don't watch TV.

It's all political hot air. Everything each candidate is doing has been done before.

Political Marketing 101. Shut off your TV.

Same old politics is absolutely right! If anyone lives like Hollywood starlet is the McCains. How many properties do they own? And how much does Cindy McCain charge on her credit card each and every month? The latest figure is $ 100,000 and what about the $ 800,000 condo they bought their 19 year old daughter in Phoenix. I don't see that Obama was brought up with any of these horrendous values.
And to his campaign people, these ads ARE the low road. They are a complete turn off to anyone who has not made up their mind. If the only way McCain can win to is to bash Obama's character, then who wants him as a president. Not me, his ad campaign is disgusting and so is he. What happened to "running a respectful campaign." Another lie from McCain just like the many others. What an ego.

Barack Obama says the same old thing all the time...

I'm going to fight for change...

(What change? What's going to change?)

The economy is bad and McCain is going to continue failed policies of Bush. That's why I'm fighting for President...so I can make change!

Ok. How? We've heard enough friggin spoutin! You want my vote? What the hell are you gonna change? What the hell are you gonna do differently...talk more? Are you gonna talk us into economic prosperity? Are you gonna say "No terrorists...you're being naughty...go stand in the corner...are we gonna all sit around a campfire together and sing kumbahyah? Barack...get with it...we get it...you want change...now let's see some action...let's see a plan...talk is cheap...produce something already you friggin moron!
