Obama camp launches response ad to 'Celeb'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/30/art.ad.cnn.jpg caption="A new Obama ad hits back at McCain."](CNN) - Barack Obama's campaign launched a new television ad Wednesday night declaring John McCain has taken the "low road" over the course of the presidential campaign - a direct response to the Arizona senator's television spot released earlier in the day likening Obama to celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

"He’s practicing the politics of the past," the ad's narrator says as headlines from various medial outlets stating McCain has gone negative flash across the screen.

"John McCain. Same old politics, same failed policies," the ad's narrator also says.

Earlier: McCain camp links Obama to big celebs

McCain's ad, released earlier Wednesday declares Obama "the biggest celebrity in the world," while flashing images of both Hilton and Spears.

"But is he ready to lead? With gas prices soaring, Barack Obama says no to offshore drilling and says he'll raise taxes on electricity. Higher taxes, more foreign oil - that's the real Obama," the ad's narrator says while crowds screaming, "Obama!" are shown.

The McCain ad is the latest in a string of hard-hitting television commercials from the McCain campaign. Earlier spots suggest Obama is playing politics with the Iraq war, is against funding American troops and bears some of the responsibility for high gas prices.

UPDATE: Tucker Bounds, spokesman for the McCain campaign, released the following statement in response to the Obama campaign's new "Low Road" ad: "Pointing out your opponent’s worldwide celebrity is not the ‘low road,' and neither is pointing out that he opposes oil drilling and supports higher taxes.”

What this ad says is true. I was will to almost buy McCain's words that he wouldn't go dumpster diving like the Bush campaign and other disingenuous Republicons, but I've been proven wrong.

    1. Everybody who is NOT a snob senses that something is not exactly O.K. with that so called "New Politician".
I see him like my doughier: tells me exactly what I would like to hear.

I think that Guy and his gang had studied the social behaviour in USA long before had started the elections and they simply manipulate us very effectively!
    Simply: DO NOT TRUST HIM!!!!

    2. No offence, but am I correct that OBAMA is very much supported and loved by HOMOSEXUALS?

/ Not because I do not respect them as human beings/

    3. His color is NOT my concern but his attitude : HE IS ARROGANT!
e.g. Is it appropriate a future President to chew a gum walking as a peacock at front of the cameras?

    4. If he is "sooo gifted" and almost genius, what he had done for 45 years before the beginning of that election?

Why can't either stand on their own merit and not "attack" the other? BOTH are participating in the same-old/same-old.

it's time for mcmess to be accountable for all the nonsense he says-his lack of knowledge and his attacks on obama.

how can he claim to be strong on foreign policy when he thinks that pakistan and iraq share a border? or the difference between shiia and sunni? wants to visit czechloslavakia? i mean seriously people, how can you overlook his lack of even the most BASIC foreign policy knowledge, like WHERE the involved countries are?

just because someone SAYS they are stronger on foreign policy doesnt mean that they ARE!! i cant believe that after 8 years of this, people are still so ignorant and gullible!!!

Thank goodness and I hope the media gives this ad the same coverage they give McCains negative ads. Obama is a smart man, for that reason I will vote for him. He has consistently taken the high road, even when Hillary threw the kitchen sink and septic tank at him. This is the leader that America needs.

  14. McCain is still Running?

Obama is the coolest cat out there, completely naive of the McCaineys to think they won't hit back, but now is not the time when you have a comfortable lead and you don't have to spend that advertising money, but when the dam breaks look out. Best Politician of a life time.

Yeah! Anytime McCain says anything about Obummer, he's just terrible. Is America ready for four years of a president who is always a "victim" like Bo's friends Jackson, Rangel and Farakahn? If Obama really wants to appear "presidential," he should take his licks without crying and throw his punches without sarcasm.

Amazing that McCain started this campaign as someone I respected.

He said that this was not going to be the same old type of attack, smear political campaign as we have seen in the past. THAT is exactly what he has started to do!

Shame on you, Senator McCain. Taking the "high road"?? Yeah, right!

Same OLD Politics is right. This is John McCain's attempt at trying to look 'hip' and it is actually pretty sad.

John McCain's wife Cindy is much more like Paris Hilton in that they are both blond, millionaire heiresses who have done nothing with their lives...also, both have had drug problems, but at least Paris didn't steal her drugs from charity like Cindy McCain did.

I think Obama's campaign (him and his people) are immature when it comes to politics. They're playing the whole "he poked me first" kid games.

What new policies are they going to bring? Health care for illegal immigrants? Drivers licenses for illegals? Appeasement policies with Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah? Cuz i'm pretty sure those won't be old politics, and they will be very successful policies.

Once a man twice a child. This is Senator McCain second childish behavour. McCain is now behaving like a child with his ad attacks.

To compare a fellow senator popularity as a celeb without real contrast with the celebrities in question, is very childish.

When will McCainflip flop goind to learn?
