The Paris Hilton comparisons

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/07/30/art.paris.gi.jpg caption="Obama once compared himself to Paris Hilton."](CNN) - John McCain is facing criticism from many Democrats for likening Barack Obama to Paris Hilton, but the Illinois senator made the same comparison himself at a dinner in 2004.

"Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," then Senator-elect Obama said at a Gridiron dinner in December, 2004. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."

That attempt at self deprecating humor was delivered little more than a month after he was elected to the US senate, and just weeks before he was sworn in.

The same comparison was also made in September 2006, when speculation swirled about whether the still-very coy Obama would mount a presidential bid.

Upon speaking at Tom Harkin’s annual Iowa steak fry - a must-attend event for any presidential hopeful - CNN asked Obama about the Paris Hilton comparisons.

“Yeah, exactly,” Obama started to reply before Harkin jumped in and said, “Remember that movie with Robert Redford that was called 'The Natural, about a baseball player? This is the natural of politics.”

So much for a professional campaign. McCain has been do as I say, not as I do. The most disapointing thing for me as a fellow retired naval officer, is that much of what he has said is simply not true and a gentlemen does not conduct himself this way.

And so the dirty politics and the stupidity of side issues begins.

I just hope all Americans are smart enough to look past that to the candidates and their stands.

I think it becomes obvious Obama is the one to support this time around.

She is dumb, he is a Harvard graduate with honors.

She was born to a filthy rich dad, he was born to dad who left him when he was 2.

She was born with a platinum spoon in mouth, he is a self made man

She goes after other women's husbands, he is faithful to his wife

What else? She is female and he is a male, she is blond and he is tanned ...

Wait a minute, doesn't Paris Hilton sounds like Cindy McCain?

I used to vote Republican; however, this kind of dirty attack did a lot to change my mind. This is truly a new low.

  12. Another Republican voting for Obama

The Republican Party under the rule of George Bush and Dick Cheney will say anything to get the American people to believe that opening enviromentally sensitive land will bring down gas prices.

The real plan is to get as much land freed up for the big oil companies before George Bush and Dick Cheney leave office.

So what the latest polls are saying is that we have a bunch of naive Americans willing to believe the lies coming from the Republican party. Haven't they fooled us enough? How much more of beating can we take?

What a joke. Instead of calling out John McCain for these pathetic ads, this article attempts to validate the ads by digging up a joke made by Obama about Paris Hilton 4 years ago.

Senatot McCain is comparing Senator Obama to Paris Hilton. To a half blind person Paris & Cindy would look alike and the reality of it is that Paris & Cindy have a lot in common – think about it. As far as Senator McCain himself remember the move Sybil.

  20. Reality Check

This is really really stupid. McCain disgust me with his negative attacks. He is probably taking advice from Pat Buchannan (The most hated fiqure on T.V).

I have lost respect for John McCain, just like I did to Hillary. This is a man who claimed to be different.

    What a liar

  21. obama is unfit to be president of this country

obama is only a natural of a low life that wants to destroy this country. That fool has no idea what he's doing and has to surround himself with other idiots to give him their opinions and answers. Elect him and we'll never know who'll be making the decisions. This idiot can't.

    go figure...
i mean come on mcsame and the rejects i mean republicans are looking very weak at the moment i mean for real are these type of attacks all they think of ? they belittle him for being a well like world figure (you would think its a good thing for the president aka the most powerful man on the planet to be well liked abroad) they say he is getting all this "great " media coverage but he is getting mostly negative air time with the media and mcsame is getting by fair mostly positive media coverage . they say he " snubbed" the troops in germany but mccains voting record shows he voted against 9 bills that would have improved life for wounded vets, ed benefits, housing etc, so who really snubbed the troops? he argues about the surge working, ofcourse it had a good effect anytime we put that many american troops anywhere in the world they are going to kick but , but at the same time what is this " victory " that mcsame is talking about this war has dragged on for too long, too many american lives have been lost, and its killing our economy and to think we should have never been their (just like sen obama said go figure) . and lets not forget that mcsame is jumping on the bandwagon on sen obamas ideas ie more troops in afghanastan, the " timetable" of troop withdrawl. so the rep have been throwning all this negative crap and nothing sticks but they would much rather sling mud and not have it stick than talk about issues... go figure

  24. SOUTHERN HOTTIE

Folks, I'm deducing that ultimately the McCain camp thinks that collectively the American people must have a really low intelligence quotient.

McCain purports to be an honorable guy and then he resorts to these tactics? Come on now!!!!!!

Smart 24-35 year olds: It's time for change. For real.

TELL OLD SCHOOL WASHINGTON THAT YES WE CAN!!!
