(CNN) - Days after a television spot from John McCain’s campaign suggested Barack Obama did not hold enough respect for members of the military, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Monday that Michelle Obama will host a roundtable discussion with military spouses highlighting the launch of a military families advisory group.

Michelle Obama will meet with military families in Norfolk, Virginia Wednesday, an event designed to spotlight "Blue Star Families for Obama," which the campaign describes as "a national military families council" that will provide policy input and coordinate with the campaign on events featuring military families.

Michelle Obama held similar discussions with military spouses last May in Kentucky and North Carolina. Last month, the McCain campaign released an ad that suggested the Illinois senator had skipped a visit to wounded service members on his overseas trip because he could not bring members of the media with him. Obama’s campaign has denied the account.

  1. No McCain ever!

Obama is working hard to show us that he has plans for this country. He is proactive. McCain on the other hand shows us that he is great at attacking Obama, talking endlessly about the surge and winning a war that can't be won. I think I will take the better choice here – OBAMA!

    CNN Ticker still=OBAMA
16 photos of democrats (only 5 w/out the last name Obama) and 1 of republicans – can you at least keep the ratio something like 3:1?

They do not know what to do. For the first time she is proud of our country and she is going to have military families group. I am sure nobody will join this group. I think our country will be trouble if we have such inexperienced people running the country. They say they have judgement although no experience. however you can have good judgement if you have experience. Marack has bad judgement like this one and no experience. Wake up America.

Once again the media is trying to sound as if Sen Obama is making decisions in reaction to mcsenile. Michelle was doing this long before mccain's lies about sen obama not caring for the troops.

Michele, I will be delighted to meet you and let you know who much it means to our troops that your family cares about our family and their well-being.

PS the repugs blog under different names because they are desparate, angry and frustrated with their candidate. So sad......

What bull!! Another photo op to deceive the American people. There's been plenty of opportunity to do this exact thing long ago, not just during this year's election campaign. Good thing, bad timing. Lacks sincerity.

We all know that Obama has great plans for this country but honestly if someone put a gun to my head I couldn't tell you what mccain stands for unless it's the surge, off shore drilling or bashing Obama. This country needs a president that will work hard for us (Obama) not someone who shows us how low a person can go by going even lower as the days go by (mccain). Mccain is a joke.

I trust Michelle much more than Anheiser-Busch magnate Cindy any day to reach out to our families.

Look at this, getting things done and focusing on more important things than smere campaigning, look where smear campaigning got us the past 8 years!

At first I was against tapping the petrolium reserve but filling it back at a later time after price's go down does make more sense, aspecially if this will bring price's down while helping the average family and the economy.

See if the old fart Mccain spent half his time also focusing on energy instead of smear campaigning against Obama maybe they could both think of some good solutions, but instead he's thinking of clever ways to make fun of Obama, what a waste, republican trash, with 100 million of his wife's money it's abvious why he could care less.

I hope I have a chance to meet her as I live near Norfolk, but I work there. Dem do not have alot of support being a military town, but he and his wife have my support.

Also, I am boycotting china's attempt to control the games. I will have to find something else to watch besides the smog games....

I am an Air Force wife for Obama. I never once for a minute doubted that he loves and respects our military. I love so much that they are doing this. The military family is a different breed altogether. Our children grow up so differently than kids whose parents are not in the military. There is so much adjusting. I love how they will address this with the spouses. We have needed this for a long time.

They should never post a picture of Michelle Obama she is unflattering.

Obama is sickening and is now proving to be same old politcs – He is nothing new or a vessel of change. He is proving to the american public he will do and say anyting to get elected. Especially when it comes to Florida, and Michigan's delegation. Now he is trying to cover up the fact that he did not go visit our troops with Michelle.

Good for Michelle Obama. What is Cindy doing? "Getting around Arizona" on her private jet because according to her "that is the only way to get around in Arizona".

Cindy makes me want to puke. She needs to peel off a couple layers of that makeup she has caked on.

At least Obama's doing something for Vets... McCain talks a big one when the Veteran subject comes up, but then proves himself an empty suit.

McCain is the REAL empty suit and this story supports my statement.

Wouldn't it have been easier for Obama just to visit the troops in the hospital in Germany?

Oh, that's right, they told Obama that he couldn't take in cameras.

No empty suits who average a flip-flop per day.

Still for Hill, but voting McCain.

McCain has flat out lied to the American people regarding Obama's trip overseas, and his visit to the troops. Obama truly believes in our troops, and wants more than anything to improve conditions, benefits and support for them. He wants to do much more for the troops and their families than McCain and the Republicans, who in my opinion have turned their backs on our men and women in uniform. Why so many red-blooded American support the Republicans is beyond me......

A republican attacking someone for not having enough respect for the troops? That would be the party that didn't give them armor. That sent them into a bad war. That extended their tours. That treated homecoming veterans abysmally, housing them in rat-infested hospitals. That would be the man who voted against the GI bill. Unbelievable....

    Go, Barack.

Truth seems to be what is letting the air out of McCain's straight-talk bus these days...

McCain and his campaign, conveniently forgetting that he promised to take the high road in this campaign, distort the facts and publish outright lies and personal attacks, time after time.

McCain is certainly keeping Fact-Check busy trying to keep intelligent people supplied with the correct information.

Mrs. Obama is talking to Americans. Mrs. McCain spends her time and energy working in Africa ... their choice – not mine.

It's a shame that the McCain people will see this as politics and not something that needs to be done. Talking to families who are the ones that will be carrying the load for the wars we're fighting, and really listen to them couldn't hurt.
