Obama camp launches military families working group

(CNN) - Days after a television spot from John McCain’s campaign suggested Barack Obama did not hold enough respect for members of the military, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Monday that Michelle Obama will host a roundtable discussion with military spouses highlighting the launch of a military families advisory group.

Michelle Obama will meet with military families in Norfolk, Virginia Wednesday, an event designed to spotlight "Blue Star Families for Obama," which the campaign describes as "a national military families council" that will provide policy input and coordinate with the campaign on events featuring military families.

Michelle Obama held similar discussions with military spouses last May in Kentucky and North Carolina. Last month, the McCain campaign released an ad that suggested the Illinois senator had skipped a visit to wounded service members on his overseas trip because he could not bring members of the media with him. Obama’s campaign has denied the account.

Michelle is a great lady....she does have the ability, just as her husband does, to bring folks together around a specific issue in order to get things done. Maybe Michelle can get Cindy McCain to join her, instead of following her husband around like a shadow....we'd like to know where our would-be First Ladies stand on the issues, we don't know where Cindy stands on them, or what she has to offer; she's too busy babysitting her husband.

Good, Barak is on the offensive. I don't think McCain can handle this. I can't wait to see where he goes with this.

Lieberman is not the only McCain supporter who feels that tires are a useful point of leverage in the battle for energy security. As the LA Times reported in June, both California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Florida Governor Charlie Crist have encouraged drivers to keep tires inflated - even as they disagreed about the value of offshore drilling. Indeed, tire maintenance would appear to be the one energy cause that almost everyone can get behind - save for McCain's campaign.

McCain is against conservation apparently. McCain is a fool and his tax plan has you paying HIGHER TAXES than Obama's plan. McCain's plan also leads to a HIGHER DEFICIT than Obama's plan.

Fiscal conservatives should be for Obama, not McCain.

Remember folks Obama is not anti-war. He is for pulling "most" troups from Iraq because that will get him elected but wants MORE in Afganistan. And is still pretty much the same on the middle east as most politicians.

Read the Green Party web site if you want to see what anti-war looks like without reservation and without lies.

America needs to be better informed, with the lives of Military Families. Our Govt. has asked Military Families to undergo enourmous fatigue, and stress ( I for one, know all too well ). The 'Iraq Invasion' was unwarranted. Had we maintained our Goal in Afghanistan, I'm sure we would be near COMPLETION. Iraq was a very bad judgement call, for a number of reasons (1) Troop Level (2) Financing, just to name a couple.

Now we're indebted to CHINA, JOBS LOST in AMERICA

Obama is for our troops and for vets. So is Rick Noriega and Chet Edwards.

McCain is a liar and has voted against the GI Bill and voted against our troops. Google it. It's true.

Still for Hill – get over it – he didn't want to publicize his visit – the only reason McWarmonger goes is so that the News will put it on their wires and give him free publicity. God knows McWarmonger needs "free" – the elitist, back-stabbing, funny man that can't even decide which flip flop to flip flop on next. The media just ignores him because he is not interesting.

    DEAL WITH IT !!!!!!!

Helen from NY, you are a liar. Michelle said for the first time she was "REALLY" proud of her country. That is the difference between proud and prouder.

Go back to school and educated yourself.

Boy they are trying to shape their image . A Blue star program with Michele Obama leading the pack. The woman who said for the first time in her life she was finally proud of america. Read her thesis that she wrote as a graduate student and see what she really thinks about america and especially white people. They are trying to push her for looking out for soldiers families. What a joke . This is like Obama trying to say he did not go visirt the troops in Germany because it would look political. The real reason was because he was not allowed just like all politicians to take his media with him. Since he couldn't get no good photo ops he decicided to go play basketball and drink champagne with the Germans. Read her thesis, listen to her not proud of america statement and tell me do you really want these two people in the white house and representing America. I don't.

I suggest EVERYONE look at McCain's voting record when it comes to supporting the troops.

Obama has a greater following among Vets than McCain!

While John McCain does nothing but put out NEGATIVE TV Ads and brags about how "proud" he is of those juvenile TV Ads, Sen. Obama's campaign on the other hand is making things happen. They are focusing on the ISSUES at hand. In positioning Michelle Obama as "Host' of the military family roundtables is such a BRILLIANT move. Michelle Obama is a mother of two girls and she understands the issues facing many military families. Here you have a mother who does NOT buy birthday or Christmas gifts for her own children as a way of teaching them the values of appreciating the blessings that they already get throughout the year.

GREAT decision on the part of the Obama camp.

He has sunk to a new low using military spouses for votes. Who will he be talking to? Why not come to Ft. Hood and talk to some of the young newlyweds who are now single, or living with a spouse with a disability ....ask them how they feel about more deployments and no money or being kicked out of housing because their spouse is no longer of value to the military. Maybe they can ask why they can't get their full disability payments becasue of red tape or becasue the VA is being told not to diagnose certain illnesses. Instead of a few officers wives, let him talk to the lower enlisted wives and ask how they feel about being alone for years and qualifying for WIC, and food stamps becasue their pay is so low. People with concerns are not cynical, they are realistic. Speaking for many like me.........after 21 years of being an Army spouse, we have seen and heard it all. We live in a very real world where the ideas of hope may make us smile but does not pay the bills, raise our kids or bring our troops home.
