caption="Michelle Obama will meet with military spouses Wednesday."]
(CNN) - Days after a television spot from John McCain’s campaign suggested Barack Obama did not hold enough respect for members of the military, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Monday that Michelle Obama will host a roundtable discussion with military spouses highlighting the launch of a military families advisory group.
Michelle Obama will meet with military families in Norfolk, Virginia Wednesday, an event designed to spotlight "Blue Star Families for Obama," which the campaign describes as "a national military families council" that will provide policy input and coordinate with the campaign on events featuring military families.
Michelle Obama held similar discussions with military spouses last May in Kentucky and North Carolina. Last month, the McCain campaign released an ad that suggested the Illinois senator had skipped a visit to wounded service members on his overseas trip because he could not bring members of the media with him. Obama’s campaign has denied the account.

I am proud of her now...
I mean I am REALLY proud of her now.
I mean for the first time I am REALLY proud of her now.
ROFLMAO....
Joke 08... Now he wants to care about the military whos wounded he wouldn't visit because he couldn't bring a camera!
If Michelle is supposed to be "off limits" she is becoming way too active in the campaign. Another flip-flop by Obama the pancake.
STILL FOR HILL, the McCain camp has admitted that they lied about the 'troops in Germany' story and that Obama didnt go for other reasons. get with the program.
I have absolutely no faith in Michelle Obama. There is no way she should
be in the white house.
Wow, how convenient. If the polls swing a little more, maybe the Obama's will open a support group for off-shore rig workers. Anybody that cannot see through this is a fool.
proud army and navy mom – you are so right. The repugs are desperate and they will do anything to win – case in point mccain. And btw I know that they have shamelessly used your name (mine too) and it's wicked and evil, but then they are repugs so you can't expect any better.
Democrats make me sick
Yeah, Michelle's unflattering like fat Babs Bush, drunk Betty Ford and doe-eyed Nancy Regan. Don't go there.
Cindy McCain has been working with charities traveling around the world for years. Michelle is just doing this to cut down criticism of Obama not visiting the injured troops in Germany. He could not take in cameras so he thought it was not worth his time. . Be careful Michelle of what you say or he will not let you out of the house except for the convention and after Nov 4th.
I bet if cameras were not allowed in this group, there would be no group haha. Obama just likes his photo taken to look like he's doing something good. I still remember him digging up that sand in illinois to help fix the breached levees from the flood, and he was wearing a dress shirt..............like that's the proper attire for digging sand. Actually that's just the proper attire for holding a shovel and getting his picture taken.
I'm neither a Democrat or a Republican but I am a Vet and the mother of a young man who has already served 2 tours in the "Sand Box". I also happen to live in the Tidewater area. It's rather interesting that this is the first time I have heard anything about Michelle Obama working with military families. Although I am tending more towards Obama than McCain I do wonder how someone can "work with military families" if they have not walked in the families shoes at some point in their own life.

Your Exactly Right...MCCAIN VOTED AGAINST IMPROVING BENEFITS for VETERANS
And McCain is a Veteran-But McCain, is always trying to remind America of his Military Service!!!
I'm guessing Cindy McCain was too busy gathering her income tax statements for public inspection to get involved in this noble effort?!
Cindy McCain attended USC, earned a bachelor's and master's in education and was a Trojan cheeleader.
Michelle Obama earned a bachelor's at Princeton and a law degree at Harvard.
Cindy McCain is an heiress to a liquor empire.
Michelle Obama earned her stripes.
You decide who's more real here.
To all the cowards who are talking about Michelle's looks. I'm more interested in her character, and she NEVER stole drugs, as Cindy Lou McCain did.
"Still for Hill" is shooting himself in the foot by voting for McCain...s/he needs to be informed about the policies this country will get if McCain wins. We all need to remember that despite the latest Republican ads, this election is NOT a popularity contest. The future direction of our nation is at stake-there are REAL DIFFERENCES in the positions of the 2 candidates which will affect all of us.
And please remember...in order to be a viable candidate for either party you first have to have the attitude of an arrogant celeberity–no one votes for wimps. McCain needs to stop the fluff and talk about real ideas which will move our country forward, as Obama is doing, and let the people decide .
Like her husband, MO is acting as if she already owns the White House. Doesn't she have a (well-oaid) job to go to?
At least she's not a barbie doll or a drug addict like Cindy Lou.
Too late my Military hating media creation.......much too late.
Pandering now that his numbers are dropping like Hillary Supporters from your rolls.......
Go back to Rev Wright, Ayers, Farrakahn, Rezko and the rest of your shady anti-American croonies........
Vote McCain or join the insane.....
Michelle...
I won't be voting for Obama- just like you would not be voting for Hillary if she were our nominee.
By your words will you fall.
Excuse me bulldog get your facts straight. In June Cindy McCain went to the other side of the world (Vietnam) to do charity work helping Vietnamese kids born with facial deformities. In July she took part of a group visiting USAID health clinics, schools, and an orphanage. Former Senator Tom Daschle joined the trip on behalf of Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign. It was a bi-partisan venture. So before you sling the mud google.

I wonder what ridicule will come from Camp McCain over this initiative.
They use Michelle to promote this. I wonder if this is a double edged sword from Camp Obama. Do some "good" and present Michelle as "bait" for another negative attack from McCain. Obama stays on issues while McCain makes jokes.
republicans are mostly thieves, liars and hypocrites. they say they love the troops but mcain votes against a GI bill with veteran benefits. they love reckless wars and killing but hold it they are pro life. they want the rich to be richer and the poor to perish. republicans you better vote with your heads. go michelle
Will anyone attend this meeting? Military families are notoriously Republican. Will anyone really care? Military families have enough to worry about instead of a photo op with someone who doesn't know one thing about the military or military families, much less what its like to be in uniform. Remember, ladies and gentleman, she just NOW became PROUD of the USA just recently. Hmmmmm, sounds like a very patriotic first lady looking out for the families of our armed forces.
