(CNN) - Days after a television spot from John McCain’s campaign suggested Barack Obama did not hold enough respect for members of the military, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Monday that Michelle Obama will host a roundtable discussion with military spouses highlighting the launch of a military families advisory group.

Michelle Obama will meet with military families in Norfolk, Virginia Wednesday, an event designed to spotlight "Blue Star Families for Obama," which the campaign describes as "a national military families council" that will provide policy input and coordinate with the campaign on events featuring military families.

Michelle Obama held similar discussions with military spouses last May in Kentucky and North Carolina. Last month, the McCain campaign released an ad that suggested the Illinois senator had skipped a visit to wounded service members on his overseas trip because he could not bring members of the media with him. Obama’s campaign has denied the account.

Most of my military friends and their families are voting for John McCain. There are a few voting for Obama, but overwhelmingly they all like McCain. They aren't in the military because they are wusses...keep this in mind. They are there to protect and defend our country at a moment's call. So we can all sleep safely at night.

At least the Obama's are doing someting. Senator McCain has nothing better to do than attack them. As for Cindy McCain; what is she doing?

As for the Clinton voters who are voting for McCain, I don't get it. Why would you vote for someone who does not uphold democratic values? Why allow your hatred and unhappiness to continue and allow this country to fall futher back to the eight years we just suffered? Hillary Clinton has ask you all to put aside your anger and be level headed. But this is the USA... the same country who voted for GWB twice. The republicans lack of support for higher education has taken it's toll on this country. So many people are just not smart!

Watch it CNN.... everyone knows you are not allowed to comment on Michelle Obama unless it is to heap praise on her for being such a fabulous person. Everything else must be approved by Barack prior to publication. Otherwise it's a "personal attack on his wife" which is off limits. You should probably just run everything by him in advance to be on the safe side.

CNN, why don't you mention that McCain's own campaign has issued a retraction on their statement about the canceled hospital visit.

Members of the military and their families have great respect and pride in our country. Although not all agree with the current administration’s policies, few could be labeled unpatriotic. It is sad that the O-DNC is trotting out Mrs. Obama in this capacity, considering her self-professed lack of pride in our country and she and her husband’s apparent unpatriotic history. The Obama’s sudden interest in being perceived as proud and patriotic citizens in order to garner votes does not sit well with most Americans.

    NeverObama NY!

Dont you know real beauty is within yourself?.
I never saw your face but I surely know your
    inner self looks verry ugly!
The Obama's will be loved all over the world and
at last also in the USA.
Here in Europe we see that from the beginning.
A good judgement is not America's strongest point until now,
we have seen that for many years now.

    Obama for President

    With love from the Netherlans.

Wow a candidate actually doing something! While McCain is running Paris Hilton ads the Obamas are trying to make our country better. The sad thing is that Americans are stupid enough to fall for the negative stuff. Republicans suck.

I just hope she thinks before she opens her mouth. She has no idea of what its like to be a military wife or try to raise a family in the military.
Lets not be phony either. Her looks with that jaw are extremely unflattering.

This is very good to read. McCain thinks that because he served in the armed forces and was a POW, he somehow has a monopoly on knowledge of/care for the military and that only he could be the Commander in Chief thereof. Understanding comes from listening, McMouthy and Obama's campaign is doing just that by the formation of this advisory group. As to future POTUS Obama not visiting the troops in Germany, if he (Obama) HAD made such a visit, McCain would have found something wrong with that, as well. The only person McCain can talk about in his campaign is Obama because Obama is the person who is actually focusing on issues and answers, not attack and whine.
    OBAMA/BIDEN '08 & '12–YES WE CAN!!

  13. Fooled the sheople but not the people

    Michelle...

remember... you had to think about being loyal to the democratic party and the party ideals... you scrunched up your nose and said that you would have to think about voting for HRC if SHE were now our nominee.

I can not scrunch my nose as ugly as you did...

But I am not voting for hypocritical, race-baiting Obama boy.

For the first time, I am REALLY proud to defect from my own party.

This will give Michelle a chance to say that this is the SECOND time in her adult life that she's been proud of her country. What a disgrace – her posing with people willing to give their lives for their country, when her only question is what has America done for me lately.

"Ask not what you can do for your country – ask what your country can do for you!" The Obamas' motto.

Obama, would be better off being seen at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, on his knees asking forgivenss for not showing the proper respect by failing. to visit that hospital because political photo Op's were not allowed. Shame on him

I guess she needs something to do while her husband is flip flopping all over the place, she probably can't keep up with what her hubby is standing for this week.

I see Obama is stooping to a new low by exploiting military families for his own political gain.

Good for us. Michelle Obama is an executive and leader in her own right. Anything she can do to help her husband and our country is appreciated.

As I sit here and read some of these comments, can one single McCain supporter tell me what of McCain's policies and past history in the senate makes him the more qualifies candidate for president? everyone likes to cal Obama a flip flopper. I have seen McCain flip on every issue he has blasted Obama for. Here's a list of his lack of credibility and flip flops, all which can be documented and researched for your own enjoyment.

    1) The New Gi bill was brought forward to congress three times before finally being approved in June. McCain has voted against that bill all for times, in hopes of stooping service members from doing four years and getting out to go to school. USA Today June 28, 2008

    2) "to pull out of Iraq, is to loose in Iraq", now he supports the possibility of leaving in the next 18 months after the general election. Any news source worth its can has that still posted on their web sites

    3) McCain admitted to having short comings about the economy, then retracts those comments on fox news and CNN.

    4) McCain says he is against foreign trade agreements that send contracted job in America to other countries, yet in may and june he campaigned in Canada to show his support to free trade agreements with Canada and France. New York times July, 4 2008

McCain hasn't stood for anything except sending more service members to war. I'm sorry all he has done is focus on what obama is doing and trying to flip it. Here's another topic that makes me laugh. McCain says he says he wants to have these town hall meetings with the people asking the questions yet after his first one where he answered only one question throughly he has had his campaign staff moderating his meetings. he hasn't answered the American people he has answered questions that were prescripted he's a phony, and someone who has no change nor solution in mind for the American people. He's loaded what does he have to worry about while the average American suffers.

I am sick of the people, mostly black cries of racism. Anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist. if the black keep up these cries of racism and reparation –Mcain is going to be president.and Why the unfounded attacks on Cindy? She isn't running for president and from what I have seen she is keeping her mouth shut.

  23. Sexism is grand...racism is evil

    The Obamas played dirty:

Obama thugged and strong-armed his way to being installed as nominee.

Michelle worked race hatred to that same end- she had to think about pulling the democratic party lever if the nominee had been Hillary.

Media- please question HER party loyalty. please call her a bitter old racist... please ask how could she NOT vote for another democratic candidate with a BETTER platform than her hubbies?

MEDIA IT WAS THAT KIND OF PRO-OBAMA AND ANTI-HILLARY BIAS THAT CAUSED DEMOCRATS TO REFUSE TO VOTE FOR OBAMA.

TAKE THE BLAME FOR HIS LOSS IN NOV

The fact that the Republican slime machine is still knocking Michelle for one sentence taken out of context, months after she clarified her comment, is a pretty good indication that they have nothing in their arsenal to slime her with.

Michelle is an intelligent woman, self made professional with a legal background. She has proven to be capable of helping Obama by talking with military families to better understand their concerns.

Cindy, on the other hand is content to just look good, but Cindy tends to look like she is in pain when she follows John around on the campaign trail. I suggest that Cindy get comfortable shoes that might help.

More examples of Obama's campaign laying out solid plans and courses of action while all McCain's campaign can do is print some words on a tire pressure gauge.
