Obama camp launches military families working group

(CNN) - Days after a television spot from John McCain’s campaign suggested Barack Obama did not hold enough respect for members of the military, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Monday that Michelle Obama will host a roundtable discussion with military spouses highlighting the launch of a military families advisory group.
Michelle Obama will meet with military families in Norfolk, Virginia Wednesday, an event designed to spotlight "Blue Star Families for Obama," which the campaign describes as "a national military families council" that will provide policy input and coordinate with the campaign on events featuring military families.
Michelle Obama held similar discussions with military spouses last May in Kentucky and North Carolina. Last month, the McCain campaign released an ad that suggested the Illinois senator had skipped a visit to wounded service members on his overseas trip because he could not bring members of the media with him. Obama’s campaign has denied the account.
"Foreign Observer" has it completely right. Actions speak louder than words. Bush, McCain, and company are the ones that threw our troops into this mess so recklessly and unprepared and who are against the GI bill because it might mean less troops re-enlisting. Is that respecting the troops?

Obama needs to be his own man and stop being lead around by a nose ring by McCain, also keep his message focused. McCain has been on the Senate Committee on Armed Services for years . And under his watch we had the Walter Reed Hospital mess and other failing facitities , soldiers being sent to war not properly outfitted.Returning home not receiving proper mental care. Long waiting list to get VA care.Extended tours, military families repeatedly torn apart / separated just to name a few.
McCain has stated he loves the troops. I was always taught actions speak louder than words, also words are cheap. McCain you love the troops where has the oversight been were you asleep at the wheel again? Oversight was your job. Were you to concerned with your side job of nation building? Take a hike John. This is a fight Obama act like it!!!

So, tell me, What has McStupid done for our vet's? I have 2 son's who have , Thank God, Made it back safely form the war zones.. They have issues, sure. Thankfully, Barack has outlined a plan for post war support for the troops AND their families, unlike McCain, who has turned his back on them.

McCain is against the G.I. Bill as well. Who supports the troops more? It is Obama unless you are talking about who supports getting more of our troops wounded and killed without giving them the proper support in the field as well as at home, that is McCain.
You mention at the end the accusation of cancelling a visit to troops "BECAUSE he could not bring the media with him". Why did you not then mention the Obama camp denies this BECAUSE the pentagon called them AND TOLD THEM NOT TO GO!
Just as obama's team selects those who sit behind him on the stage they will also carefully select those who will participate in the round table discussions. It is just another rigged effort to protray Obama in a favorable light.
I know from first hand experience how the Obama team rigs photo shots. He was speaking at our local high school during the primaries. Being an independent, I went to see/hear him. Well, guess what. Because I was a white elderly lady I got to sit on the stage! Why, I representa group that Obama is/was having difficulty winning over.
Prior to this experience, I was naive and thought that those on stage were either part of his campaign or other important people. Nope, the object is to have the rix mix for the backdrop.
Empty suit McCain can only attack the integrity and character of his opponent through a highly negative campaign. Obama's actions speak to the vision, leadership and intentions of this All American-story candidate.

Firstly, how do you be for hillary then vote for McCain? That makes no sense at all and just goes to show what you really stand for. If you are for Hillary then you are a democrat or you are liberal. I am curious. Nobody seems to ask about McCains opinion of Vietnam. Not his personal experiences or being a POW but the war in general. Probably the great majority of people in this country think it was wrong to be there and feel the troops were victims our political leaders. But what does he think? Also, in 2003 why would someone who loves the troops so much send them off to fight and die in a land that we had no interest in?

What a great idea! I've heard her speak and she is genuine and down to earth. I can't picture Cindy meeting with the wives of military people. Obama has always supported the troops with his votes for benefits. I'm sure the Repugs will continue to smear both of tthe Obamas anyway–they are a bunch of childish complainers, along with the people who believe their strange ads.

Why is he sloughing this off on his wife? Veteran’s affairs are not important enough for him to be bothered with? He had time to make a campaign appearance in Germany and get his ego stroked; he should make time to host a round table discussion with American military families. Oh yeah, the military isn’t important to Obama, he won’t be receiving enough votes from this demographic who traditionally vote republican to be bothered.
Good idea, but as usual, trust McCain to come up with an advert that will attack the idea. That's all he waiting to do – attact, attack, attack.
I'm glad some attention is being given to military families even if it is driven by campaigning. I am from a military family – my father is a Vietnam veteran who also served in the U.S Navy. My older brother has been in the Marine Corps and has served in Iraq. We are proud Americans who support Senator Obama and believe Michelle will make a fine First Lady.
