McCain, Hillary Clinton react to news of Edwards affair

(CNN) - John McCain was tight-lipped Friday afternoon when it came to answering any questions about former U.S. Senator and Democratic hopeful John Edwards's admittance to having an extramarital affair. Edwards acknowledged he had had an affair with a former aide in 2006 but denied being the father of her baby. McCain told reporters "I don't have any comment on that" during a press conference in Rogers, Arkansas.

In Nevada, New York Senator Hillary Clinton said her "thoughts and prayers are with the Edward's family today" when asked if she thought her party would suffer any repercussions because of the scandal. Senator Clinton held an impromptu press conference following a campaign event in Las Vegas for Barack Obama where the statement was made.

Why would John McCain have any comment? He cheated on his first wife and left her after an accident and went for a younger, blonde, rich woman.

Learning of the affair reminded me of how Elizabeth Edwards always seemed to be more supportive of HRC than Obama, and the time where when John Edwards, talking of the nomination, spoke of the best "man" for the job, and Elizabeth said "or woman" and he repeated, "yes, or woman".

And Obama has a "bad habit" of calling women "sweetie". I'll vote BO because JM is worse, but I sure hope these male politicians, so uncomfortable seeing women as equals, take a little time to reflect on their self-centered, male-centric attitudes.

Maybe McCain was tight lipped because of his own extramarital affairs in the past!

McCain better not say anything about Edwards and the affair because McCain did the same thing with Cindy.

The Democrats won't suffer from this, given that Edwards does not currently hold public office, nor is he running for public office. It's a shame, though, that this happened.

You may as well take down your antichrist article – we want answers about the womanizer McShamewarmonger. What about his affairs?

Come on cnn – there has to be one (1) investigative journalist out there not employed by national enquirer.

CNN. Be the better news channel and STOP coverage now. In the broad scheme of things, what does this matter. He is a two time loser as a presidential candidate that couldn't even win his own state. His philosophies are gross idealism, and he is just not someone that matters with all of the other important matters going on. His wife is battling cancer, and she doesn't need to be reminded of this day in and day out on top of everything else she is going through. Have a heart and spare the family that he hurt, and move on to McCain and Obama. Their "policies" are what should be discussed. Edward's goose is cooked. The son of a mill worker couldn't keep his pants on, and America doesn't need to know the details.

Of Course, John McCain is tight lipped......

He had an extra-marital affair with his now current wife, given that he was still married.

Why isn't THIS fact brought out about him, given that he advertises himself to be "holier than thou".

He would be very smart to keep his stupid mouth shut, and unjudgemental.

Well what can McCain say , John Edwards was only following the lead of his elder Senator. These old guys(GOP & DEMS) like McCain have got to go they are poor images with corrupt life styles , money hungry, morally corrupt people not the images our kids need to be reading about as part of this countries history, not something to be proud of.

Politicians like McCain are part of our morally corrupt country and the so super religious evangelicals are going to throw away there so called morality to support him. I wonder how they will explain McCain this wife and family disserter to there kids when the kids want to do something similar and they remind them you voted for McCain. It will come back to haunt you, Are you what ever your religion maybe or a republican first.

I wonder how long did Hilliary Know about her husbands bang, bang boogy? Yes she had to know another one living a lie just to save political face.

Yeah, what about John Edwards? Obama supporters have been deriding Hillary for not appearing enough to campaign for Obama by having only 2 public showings and half a dozen private ones. I guess that means they must really hate Edwards too, since his only contribution to Obama's campaign was an endorsement AFTER his state's primary...
Oh, but double-standards are fashionable these days...
