Kaine fires back at Rove

Gov. Tim Kaine shoots back against criticism from Karl Rove.

Gov. Tim Kaine shoots back against criticism from Karl Rove.

(CNN) - It was a tough retort from Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia.

Kaine responded Sunday to comments made by Republican strategist Karl Rove earlier this month criticizing Kaine's potential vice presidential credentials.

On CBS' "Face the Nation," Rove jabbed at the governor, saying "again no disrespect to Gov. Kaine. He's been a governor for three years. He's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done."

The Democratic governor - who is rumored to be on Barack Obama's potential VP list - pointed out that his state was voted best for business three years in a row by and said "maybe Karl Roves and the Republicans don't care about business climate, that would explain why we're in the situation that we're in".

"Governing Magazine was also named Virginia as the top governed state in America," Kaine told reporters, "maybe to Karl Rove that isn't an achievement that would explain a federal government that couldn't respond to a hurricane a Katrina and couldn't figure out how to start and manage a war."

Kaine spoke to reporters in Washington after shooting a televised interview Sunday morning.

By the way, in the 2008 Governing Magazine ranking, Virginia shares its top A- rating with two other states: Washington and Utah.

Karl Rove is very distinguished to everyone in his roll of the disasterous distruction of our country. Rove will go down in history for that and that's not something to brag about therefore he will try to drag everyone not responsible in the mud with him.

    Amen to that Tim!!!!

Rove did more damage than five hurricanes and the whole Bush family. I guess Rove has forgotten Tom Delay, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc.

I think Rove is taking some of Rush Limebaugh's pills

Somebody needs to sue Karl Rove for all the crap he pulls.

How can half the people in this country think his lies and smears (and some of the other RNC tactics) are helping this country.

We need to get rid of the repukes and get someone in the WH that cares for THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION.

Karl Rogue finally met his match when he raised Kaine. lol

Too bad the US Congress isn't as stern with the Rogue, who campaigned ugly and governed even uglier and ran the country into the ground.

    AWESOME !!!

Making excuses for not catching Osama is one thing but not helping people in your own country during a natural disaster is shameful.

The Chinese government did a much better job for its people during its recent earthquake.

Repuglicans are just pure evil and will be defeated. Karma will see to that. But I have a question – did it petrify anyone else besides myself how much mccain talked about vietnam during his well rehearsed answers? Something is not quite right with him...

Well, I hate to agree with anything that Rove does or says, but he's right–three years as governor is not a basis for a VP position.

Governor Kaine's best comment is to bash Bush. There goes another democrat blaming Bush for the problems with Katrina. The left has bashed Bush and bashed Bush for Hurricane Katrina and everything else. New Orleans was full of democrats and that's why it got so much media attention. What about all the people that lost their homes in the mid west this year. Do you remember that? I want to know why the governor of New Orleans didn't use the hundreds of school buses to get people out. Hundreds of thousands of people could have been saved. Ever wonder about that? No, because the left wing media didn't even bring it up. They just blame Bush. I am very proud of President Bush. He has taken every bash from the left with great courage and honor. Bush has had to deal with more than any president in my lifetime. You can think the democrats for high gas prices at the pump. Hope you learn how to beg, bow wow, do tricks, and wag your tail for the big convention coming up. Democrat politicians like to make you beg. The only problem with that is they feed you just enough to keep you begging for more. And don't count Hillary out yet folks. She really likes to see you beg.

This is refreshing to see the republicans lies being exposed finally by great members of the Democratic party. We need more people like Kaine and Biden who will not mince words or try to be cute and stick it to the repubs for once.

No more lies, no more repubs this year.

    Obama 08/12.

Hooray for Gov. Kaine. Tell it like it is. It seems the only way Rove, the Republicans and the Bush administration have of making themselves look good is to try to make everyone else look bad. Well you can fool all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time, but as we can all see by Mr. Bushes unfavorable ratings you can't fool all the people all the time.
