Kaine fires back at Rove

Gov. Tim Kaine shoots back against criticism from Karl Rove.

Gov. Tim Kaine shoots back against criticism from Karl Rove.

(CNN) - It was a tough retort from Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia.

Kaine responded Sunday to comments made by Republican strategist Karl Rove earlier this month criticizing Kaine's potential vice presidential credentials.

On CBS' "Face the Nation," Rove jabbed at the governor, saying "again no disrespect to Gov. Kaine. He's been a governor for three years. He's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done."

The Democratic governor - who is rumored to be on Barack Obama's potential VP list - pointed out that his state was voted best for business three years in a row by and said "maybe Karl Roves and the Republicans don't care about business climate, that would explain why we're in the situation that we're in".

"Governing Magazine was also named Virginia as the top governed state in America," Kaine told reporters, "maybe to Karl Rove that isn't an achievement that would explain a federal government that couldn't respond to a hurricane a Katrina and couldn't figure out how to start and manage a war."

Kaine spoke to reporters in Washington after shooting a televised interview Sunday morning.

By the way, in the 2008 Governing Magazine ranking, Virginia shares its top A- rating with two other states: Washington and Utah.

Karl Rove is the epitome of someone who attacks others to disguise his own utter incompetence.

He is the most divisive, dishonest figure in modern political times. No one believes anything he has to say anymore.

I could careless who Obama has as his vice president. I just hope the people that are planning on voting for Obama do some unbiased research and do not simply vote on him so he will become the first black president.

My pretzel is bigger than yours! Both Rove and Kaine are political figures that do not care about the average American... We need real people running this nation..... Obama would demonstrate his inexperience if he chose Kaine.........

Well, at least we know that Kaine can stand up to Karl Rove...

    That's something.

But does he really think that we're going to have an Obama-Kaine ticket?

Rove would turn that into Obama-Kaine't in a heartbeat!

They don't even know what is going on the country, sorry the republicans know because they brought us all these hardship and make the world hate us. All the republicans belong inn thier homes let them suffer like the rest of us. Vote them out of power.

A state doesn't become best for business overnight. Kaine is riding the coat-tails of the former governor of Virginia. He's done nothing to help that state progress except ride the increased expenditures in the defense area due to President Bush.

Gimme a break. These guys are simply bold-faced liars.

You go, Tim! It's about time Democrats pointed out the incompetence of the current administration and the Republican Party overall. They've placed political cronies in every agency and damaged the careers of a dozen or so outstanding judges because they wanted to replace them with loyal Republican appointments. It's criminal or should be. Every agency has been operating under a policy of "voluntary compliance." In case you don't know what that really means, it's just a clever way of saying "don't enforce regulations." That's why we have pets dying from tainted pet food. No one is inspecting the products coming into this country. That's why we're having a rash of recalls of products from China – because children are testing with high levels of lead poison from uninspected toys being imported. "Voluntary Compliance!"

It's just another clever phrase, like "Time Horizons" designed to make bad policy sound like a new or innovative idea. It's just a variety of ways to manipulate public opinion while they transfer the U.S. Treasury to their corporate buddies.
