Reid: 'I can't stand McCain'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Reid had some tough words about McCain."](CNN) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and John McCain have never exactly enjoyed a close relationship, but the Democratic leader was exceedingly blunt Wednesday in his assessment of his colleague from Arizona.

"I can't stand John McCain," Reid flatly told his hometown paper, the Las Vegas Review Journal in comments published Thursday. The Nevada Democrat also said he had recently expressed that sentiment to Democrat-turned Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, an ardent supporter of McCain who has agreed to speak at the Republican convention early next month.

"He (Lieberman) said 'I know you feel that way,'" Reid also told the paper.

The top Senate Democrat also said McCain is wrong on a host of issues and "does not have the right temperament" to be commander-in-chief.

McCain, who has long highlighted his willingness to work with Democrats across the aisle, was slightly more gracious towards Reid in an interview with Politico Wednesday detailing his pledge as president to work with congressional Democrats.

"I [will] go to see the speaker of the House and the majority leader of the Senate — I assume that that would be Sen. Reid, I hope not, but I think that’s probably the reality of this election — and I would say, 'Let’s have an agenda, let’s work together," he told the publication.

Meanwhile, when it comes to Joe Lieberman's role in the Senate next year, Reid suggested he would welcome him back to the Democratic caucus.

"All my close votes, he's always with me, whether it's the budget or energy issues," he said of Lieberman. "No matter what it is, he's always with us. He just does not vote right on Iraq. ... Why would I want to throw away a good vote?"

Americans must love and repect liars. Look at the present administration. Their history of telling the truth is about one sentence long. Their history of lies will go on through eternity as 911 volumes of lies told by President G.W. Bush and Vice President Cheney, among many others. McCain will add on to these volumes because he has learned how to lie from the experts. It is the only way to win an election in America (not counting rigging the votes). McCain's snappy, and concise performance in the Evangelical Church last Saturday, can be credited to his knowledge of all the questions before his performance. He gained points on his carefully crafted answers, no doubt about that. The fact that his numbers immediately rose in the pols, indicates how much Americans love liars...

  5. People make no sense

McWar needs to explain how he was dumb enough to get caught early in his military career, and spent a long war not fighting but being held captive. Wow what a hero. No guns blazing – shoot your way out of anything – defend America. Just tortured spilling your guts against America. Through diplomatic means, and his father power he was allowed to live. It's laughable that people consider him a hero and strong on war. He spent his time in captivity during war. Is that what he plans to teach us? He was flying a plane he was too dumb to know how to fly and got shot down. Maybe if he wasn't a C student he would have been able to learn the technics to manuever out of position and not get shot down. My grandfather flew endless hours fighting in the same war and he came back a *Real American Hero*.

The current Congress has done less than any Congress in 20 years. Why would Reid's opinion matter to anyone? McCain has a record of bipartisanship. Reid is nothing but a partisan attack dog; and one with no teeth at that.

    no mccain!!!!!!!!!
. McCain should be scrutinized...just like Obama has been. his character is in question, so are his ethics...john McCain has some 59 LOBBYIST running his campaign, that's not America first, John McCain gave up important Military info after 4 days, that's not putting his country before his own person, John McCain committed adultery, that's not a leader you can trust, John Mccain has lived off of the American people all of his life, owns 7 home worth 13 million, personal wealth of over 110 million, thinks being rich is making 5 million collects SS and "disability...why disability? yet he want us to believe he knows our pains...he failed to pay the taxes on his southern CA home. John McCain has the highest absent rate in the Senate, the worst record for Vets and women, supported the illegal war in Iraq, wants war with Iran and Russia, has no clue about economy, saying that "all in all we are doing better (than 8 years ago". says he knows how to "win" a war but has no record to back that claim up. John McCain is running on his war "hero" status, but he pushed legislation making it impossible for families to get info about their MIA/POWs...and still refuses to release his Military records...AND HE WANTS THE DRAFT

Truth is McSame needs Independent Joe to win this election. There are 4 million more Dems since 2004 and 500,000 less republicans. What does that mean? McCain needs Joe to come get folks like me, registered independents. No matter what all you Dems and Repubs say, if Joe is on McSames ticket, I might just start calling him McCain, and seriously consider voting for him.

It might be an easy decision for Dems, but not for me, though I would probably still vote for Obama. I would still seriously consider a Joe/McCain ticket though.
