Disclosure reports show Clinton still deeply in debt

Clinton is still carrying a sizeable campaign debt.

(CNN) - Well over two months have passed since Hillary Clinton formally abandoned her White House bid, but newly-released Federal Election Commission reports show the New York senator has made little headway in paying off her sizeable campaign debt.

According to an FEC report filed Wednesday, Clinton's debt as of the end of July stood at just under $24 million - a decrease of only $1.2 million since the end of June. More than $13 million of that total is owed to the New York senator herself, while close to $11 million is owed to individual vendors. Clinton has suggested she is not seeking to pay back the money she owes herself.

The report also shows Clinton was only able to raise $2 million in the month of July - down from close to $3 million in June. By comparison, Barack Obama raised over $50 million for his White House bid in the same time period.

The report comes as some high-profile Clinton backers have expressed disappointment Obama has not made more of an effort to help his onetime rival retire her campaign debt.

“He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama,” prominent Clinton backer Lynn Forrester told the Times of London. “Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It’s ungracious.”

Obama and Clinton have appeared at a handful of joint fundraising events, and the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has publicly urged his supporters to donate to his former primary season rival - though at a joint appearance with Clinton at a July fundraiser, the Illinois senator forgot to call on his backers to contribute to her. (He later went back on stage to correct himself.)

According to Clinton's disclosure forms filed Thursday, she owes the most ($5.2 million) to her former top advisor Mark Penn's polling/political consulting firm, Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates.

Hey Deborah instead of running your trap about Obama, you need to pony up some money help you girl out. I have to agree with most here, where are the 18 million. Why is it that all of you cry about HRC not winning but when she really needs you, you are not showing up. It appears the HRC supporters are just like her, you are more interested in yourselves and not your fellow American. If it were Obama in debt due to a loss, we would have rallied and help him out with change to spare. You HRC supporters are phonies, you are crybabies, you are self center and if I were HRC, I would disown you.

He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama,” prominent Clinton backer Lynn Forrester told the Times of London. “Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It’s ungracious.” And she right........if her 18 million supporters sent a check for $1.66/each , her debt would have been paid. Obama was more gracious to Hillary then I would have been......and if I were to write exactly what I would have done.........it may not get posted. The Clintons never give "anything" to "anybody" without some political or monetary gain for them......that's the fact Jack......

Seriously, anyone on the Clintion Support Wagon who thinks that Obama should help pay for her debt is insane! She achieved this debt by paying for the "kitchen sink" she threw at him and caused incredible damage to the Democratic Party and opened the door for attacks by the RNC. She doesn't deserve a penny from Barack, and as a Barack supporter, next time I give money, I will specifically ask that it not be used to pay for her disgraceful campaign debt!

those branding Obama "Ungracious" are "Ungrateful" and never want to unite the party.
What has clinton's debt got to do with Obama? Didn't she realise her rhetorics, sacarstic and racist comments made during the primaries?
Regardless of politics,Obama is the most humble Democrat i have ever come across.
If there was only one vote needed to get you to the Oval office i would be the one.

Maybe if she had retired her campaign earlier, instead of continuing down the campaign trail spending loads of money, she would not be in debt. Serves her right!

For all this so called PUMA support for Hillary, they sure haven't put their money where their mouthes are. Come on Hillary supporters, support your candidate if you believe in her so much, or are you just all talk and no walk?

    Obama 08!

Lynn Forrester should write her a check then! what has she and the 17,999,999 others have contributed since she suspended her campaign? What are they waiting for anyways? Tell Bill to give a few speeches...that would work

She has "18 MILLION SUPPORTERS", so it is said. What EVERYONE fails to BELIEVE is that most of those supporters were BIGOTS and REPUBCLIANS – who would never vote for Obama!!! This is why she cannot settle her debt because she is trying to depend on her "GHOST SUPPORTERS"!!! Common Sense!!!

If the above is NOT TRUE – then each of her 18 million supporters need to donate $2 each which would give her $36 million dollars!! RESULTS: No More Debt!!!!

I like how some of you demand that Obama needs Hillary, but she doesn't need him. I like how you then come back and argue that he should be doing more to retire her debt for her. Maybe I'm thinking too rationally, but it seems like she might need him after all. She's obviously not able to deal with the situation on her own.

yeah- so let's put this into some perspective.. her debt is around 23 million...
of that she owes ... HERSELF 13 million.. ha ok- nice... 11 million is to Vendors...
did you all read that- it's all up in that article..
So of her 25 million she had on July 31st in hand... why hasn't she paid that 11 million with that 25 million she had in hand?

Obama is ungracious? She can't help herself? Again, I am clearly missing something.

    Please post...

If you sit down at the table, ante up and play that's your decision – man or woman – and the consequences are yours to bear, win or lose. Thank God she didn't win, because if she responds to this loss in this weak, whining and ungracious manner, I can't imagine what she'd be like in the Presidential arena, where the folks at the table are much tougher (think Putin, or even Margaret Thatcher...).
Personally, for the Clinton circus to strong arm its way into the convention in the hopes of staying in the national spotlight and showing strength for another run down the road in a few years is pathetic and transparent. I think we'd be better served if the Clintons could stay home at watch the event huddled around their flickering black and white tv with the rabbit ears (they are broke, right?), though unfortunately they've carpetbagged their way into my state(NY) and I'd prefer they'd be as far away as possible.

This is nonsense lets look at Hillary supporters They would rather the country be in the toilet for another 4 years because Obama "stole" the election even though he won fair and square. They love Hillary but not enough to give her a $1.50 each so she can get out of debt. She asked them to support Obama they say no. She asks for money to get out of debt they say No. What do this people stand for.

Thanks to the MSM we have to hold our noses every four years and pick one of two people that are covered in mud. Its sad and disgraceful that with over 300,000,000 people in this country that we cant find one who is not covered in filth.I truely believe they dont want Americans to take part in the process.Lets not let them have their way.Vote for someone, but just get out the vote.

Clinton did not get 18 million votes. That number includes millions of Republicans who voted for her after McCain already won his nomination. Look up Rush Limbaugh and his "Operation Chaos". The Republicans were trying to sway the Democratic election to Clinton, the one they thought McCain would have an easier time running against. So what does that tell you?

Why should Obama be expected to retire her debt? He didn't make her spend more than she had. Especially considering what the money she went into debt for was spent on: Mark Penn engineered smears.

Maybe those "PUMA" people sould help out their candidate.

I thought she had staunch supporters who'd be with her through thick and thin... where are they? If each gave 1 buck, she'd have 18 million (according to her vote count) in hand instantly.
