Disclosure reports show Clinton still deeply in debt

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Clinton is still carrying a sizeable campaign debt."](CNN) - Well over two months have passed since Hillary Clinton formally abandoned her White House bid, but newly-released Federal Election Commission reports show the New York senator has made little headway in paying off her sizeable campaign debt.

According to an FEC report filed Wednesday, Clinton's debt as of the end of July stood at just under $24 million - a decrease of only $1.2 million since the end of June. More than $13 million of that total is owed to the New York senator herself, while close to $11 million is owed to individual vendors. Clinton has suggested she is not seeking to pay back the money she owes herself.

The report also shows Clinton was only able to raise $2 million in the month of July - down from close to $3 million in June. By comparison, Barack Obama raised over $50 million for his White House bid in the same time period.

The report comes as some high-profile Clinton backers have expressed disappointment Obama has not made more of an effort to help his onetime rival retire her campaign debt.

“He has provided her with a pittance compared to what the Clintons have given Obama,” prominent Clinton backer Lynn Forrester told the Times of London. “Her debt could have been cleared within 10 days. It’s ungracious.”

Obama and Clinton have appeared at a handful of joint fundraising events, and the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has publicly urged his supporters to donate to his former primary season rival - though at a joint appearance with Clinton at a July fundraiser, the Illinois senator forgot to call on his backers to contribute to her. (He later went back on stage to correct himself.)

According to Clinton's disclosure forms filed Thursday, she owes the most ($5.2 million) to her former top advisor Mark Penn's polling/political consulting firm, Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates.

I donated to Hillary last month as a respectful gesture of moving forward together. I am willing to contribute again during the convention.

I'm looking forward to the Clintons extending their full support to Obama while convincing all of her supporters that it is in our best interests to support Democratic principles in this election. I'm confident the Clintons will not disappoint, making my next donation to Hillary well worth it next week. Obama '08

I don't get it... would someone please explain why Obama should feel "obligated" to HRC? What has Hillary done? From Whitewater, to shady returns on investments, to doing nothing in the Senate, to empty promises of change, what has HRC done??? And now her supporters expect the man she dragged through the mud to pick up the bill? Wow, how arrogant of HRC and her clones!

On the pay-my-debt issue, Hillary and her supporters sound a lot like my ex-wife. I don't think anybody forced HRC to spend beyond her means.

Looks like she'll need to write a couple of new books.
    Suggested titles:

"How to run a successful presidential campaign" This will be a short one, maybe five pages.

"My real life with Bill Clinton" This will be a two volume set.

Hillary is worth over $100,000,000! Let her pay off her own debt and move on.

Let's face it...if the shoe was on the other foot, the Clintons would have paid off Obama's debt. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! and Hillary supporters on here still say that Obama has done nothing to help her, he need her, she doesn't need him, etc. They also say his supporters are so negative to her. I guess i'm really missing all that because 8 out ten negative articles are by hillary supporters or republicans disguised as Hillary supporters. Why does he need to worry about her debt when he has a campaign to run. should he run his as poorly as she ran hers. Should he pay back Penn who villified him during the primaries and even after? That makes a lot of sense. Should he pay back the Clintons $13Million so they could have 113 million instead of 100 million. Please people, get a grip

Look, she has $21 Million for the 2008 general election. The debt is there to make her RELEVANT in the news only.

Plus, PUMA's don't care about a debt problem. We have an OBAMA, THE ONE, with no experience, doesn't realize we have 50 states and 1 district (In a townhall he said we had 57 STATES) problem.

He is all form and no SUBSTANCE. What an idiot.

    NOBAMA. PUMA 2008

  8. What?

So Hillary the millionaire finally has bills that are due and want someone else to foot the bill. CNN can you find out how many homes does she own?

Stop trying to act so judgmental by not being honest. How many of you have sat ideally by for years listening and laughing with your family and so call friends, that made jokes using people of other minorities as the one to racially joke about, how many stop being their friend, stop going to church and demanded your family members to stop being racist?

Now since we have a biracial MAN running for President, you find it your right to use the people of his PAST to say you will not vote for him. But you rather keep suffering in the way this economy is and vote for someone who is so filthy rich, he doesn’t even know how many houses he own, or was to ashamed (while thousands are facing foreclosure on ONE home they have worked hard to buy) to tell the truth, because of his months of fooling people by making them believe he was in TOUCH with the 98% of American voters.

How many homes do you own, or should I ask DID own. “Rich”, are you one of he claims is the average Rich making 5+ million a year, if not then if he become President, you’re be lucky to make $5 an hour, and a room in a rooming house.

Lynn, PLEASE!! Clinton is hijacking the Convention making it all about her so if Obama loses, she'll be in short shrift in 2012. Why don't you ask that pandering idiot Will Bower to get all his PUMA people to pay down that witch's debt? And as far as what the Clintons have given Obama, I can't print that on this post. But, I'll sum it up with, headache, lies, kitchen sink strategies, and let's not forget the ultimate: she gave Obama to the Republicans, because they are now using her playbook to attack Obama, so Lynn, you can tell HITLERY Rodham Clinton that we Obama supporters are sick of her laying claim to the throne that doesn't belong to her. Go AWAY, CLINTONS!!

I have asked this question before – why doesn't Hillary's ardent supporters (18 million strong!) step up and pay off her bill. I am sure if it was the Obama supporters they would have done so already. If they truly cared/care for her, then why aren't they doing something about her debt. Put your money where your mouth is, especially those who insist on having her name on the ballot for the nomination and who refuse to put their support behind the Presumptive Nominee, Barrack Obama.

Give me a break! If the roles were reveresed and she had actually won, does anyone actually think she would help pay off his debt?? Would any of you die-hard Clinton supports cough up money to help retire his debt??

Yes, this is the person who some fanatics still think should be president. $24M debt is still owed on her own campaign. What would she have done to our country's already flailing economy?

That is fine! As long as we stopped the Clintons. They were just going to make a trailer park out of the white house. If he does not win this time he can just run again in 2012.

If only someone had told her way back when that loaning herself all that money wasn't going to help. Oh, wait, lots of folks did.

Obama supporters did not donate money to pay off Hillary's indiscretion, just like Hillary supporters refuse to support Obama. Fair is fair.

She made her own bed, time for her to sleep in it.

    As reported by the FEC..
    Latest Cash On Hand: $25,176,553
    Debts Owed By: $23,973,973
    July 31st…

Is that true? The amount she has on hand. If so, that is odd. Doesn't make sense at all and most certainly insulting. CNN. I would like to know.

Clintons 18 million supporters should pick up her debt, since they are the ones who egged her on to continue to the point of financial meltdown.

Obama has rased donations for him to be elected, not pay off Hillary's problems. If people really cared about Hillary that much they would have given to her instead.

Where are her 18 million supporters now?

To Deborah, go ahead and vote for McCain, believe me you'll regret it....You could use that effort to help her pay her debt instead of wasting it on McCant. And Obama's still a viable candidate despite his PAST relationship with Rev. Wright. Get your message straight, he did win the nomination fair and square.

Obama has been way more gracious with his support of HRC. He can't make folks contribute to her, for goodness sake her photo is on his website asking for contributions. He is one man trying to please everyone. Has this ever been asked of any other presidential candidate? And is her debt really his responsibility when a lot of the money was spent to hurt his chances at the nomination?? Ask Mark Penn to forgive the debt owed to him. Surely he can make it up in lobbying with the Colombian government.

    Voting for OBAMA in 08!!
