Cindy McCain heading to Georgia

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Cindy McCain is en route to the nation of Georgia."]
DENVER (CNN) – Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, is traveling to the nation of Georgia, which has seen intense fighting with Russian forces over the past month, her husband said Monday.

John McCain announced the trip at a fundraiser in Sacramento, California, telling the crowd, “Cindy is not here today, and I am sorry she is not, but she is on her way to the little country of Georgia.”

The wife of the Arizona senator will return on Wednesday, CNN's Dana Bash reported.

Cindy McCain is traveling with the U.N.'s World Food Program and plans to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Sakaashvili as well as wounded Georgian soldiers, a McCain campaign aide told CNN. She is also scheduled to meet with members of the HALO Trust, a group aimed at removing landmines.

In preparation for leaving, Cindy McCain told Time magazine: "There's a very serious landmine issue now, because there are landmines being laid as we speak."

"There's a whole bunch of things going on right now, and as we begin to move refugees from point A to point B or try to feed refugees who are stuck in pockets around the country, we're now running into the issue of the blowing up of humanitarian vehicles that are trying to get to the refugees. So it's a whole morass of problems now," she said.

McCain’s departure comes on the same day Michelle Obama, the wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, will address the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

Both McCains were in Georgia last year. Cindy McCain told Time her work on missions abroad was "an important part of what I'm about, what makes me tick."

Will he be sending Sinbad and Cher with her to protect her from sniper fire???

Why no mention of him accepting lobbyist money from Georiga for exactly this reason??? This is what the Georgian lobbyist expect for their money.

Google Georgian lobbyist and see for your self if CNN will not report the news.

Did you know that Abraham Lincoln had almost the exact amount of experience that Obama has when he became President? About six years of combined political experience... and look how bad President Lincoln was. Stop being dorks, if you liked Clinton for her policies then Obama is your guy. If you liked Clinton for her personality then go watch some old you-tube videos of her. But for God's sake don't vote for McCain. Not just because of the Supreme Court, not just because of foreign policy, but if you have children or family that is of draft age, then realize that if a President McCain is in power and goes to fight Russia, while adding troops to Afghanistan and Iraq and gets in a mix-up with Iran (All within the realm of possibility) then he is open to drafting people into the military. I for one will not let my children be taken by some idiot who can't try to talk things out. He'd rather sing Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran and send them off to their deaths.

Good for Cindy; now when does she release her tax statements, like all the others have done?!

Let's see, she's a former USC cheeleader and Michelle Obama is a lawyer!

    Who would you trust?

What can Cindy McCain do in Georgia? Is she a mine sweeper? A medic? Would she be willing to dirty up her perfect little outfits? This looks like a superficial political move to me. The best thing she could do is dump some of her 100 mil into the Red Cross.

Tell the UN to lock up all their prescription medicine ... Why is her drug additction past and all the adultery she helped McCain commit not even touched by the media ... but Obama's wife is portrayed as a bitter woman.

Why is McCain able to rant about all his experience, but the negative stuff that shows the character of a man (faithfulness and paying enough attention to your wife to notice a drug habit) not examined deeper ?

Humberto – how many jobs has the Bush/McCain economy produced so far? We lost jobs and McCain thinks America is better off over the last 8 years. 2 recessions, 2 wars, quadrupled gas prices, and he says we are better off and the rest of us are whiners.

Guess he meant him, Cindy, and the Bushies by "we are better off."

When you vote with Bush 95% of the time and repeat everything he says then you are the same in my book and any other book.

Since when can anyone trust a lawyer. It seems to me that there are a whole lot of uneducated bloggers on here saying some pretty rotten things about Cindy McCain. I bet half you people don't even work since it appears you are on here night and day spreading your hate. Grow up and say some intelligent things.

I think that is very philanthropic of her,to visit Georgia. Maybee her presence will send a strong message to Russia, about where McCain stands on this issue.

With $100 million dollars and more houses than her husband can remember, I hope she gets back in time to shop for McCain's big birthday bash on Friday. I know Bush skipped Hurricane Katrina to go to McCain's birthday party, so it must be something else. If she puts her money together with Mitt Romney's, maybe they can actually BUY Georgia.

does she bring her stylist, makeup artist, and hairstylist with her? she should be staying in the US visiting with foreclosed homeowners, unemployment offices, meeting with more Americans who are feeling the pinch of still-high gas prices. i bet she hasn't started taking public transportation to get to work or home. i bet she's not even flying a commercial airline to Georgia like the rest of us. if michelle obama ran off, all the republicans and hillaryites would have been all over her for abandoning her duties here. sad!

Why do you call yourself an only child when you have two half sisters?

If John McCain has such good foreign policy knowledge, then why is he angering the Russians before he is in the Whitehouse? Who came up with this lame-brain idea? Help yes, but not your wife you idiot. Everyone can see that this is all political spin.
