Cindy McCain heading to Georgia

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/06/18/art.cindy.mccain.smiles.jpg caption="Cindy McCain is en route to the nation of Georgia."]
DENVER (CNN) – Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, is traveling to the nation of Georgia, which has seen intense fighting with Russian forces over the past month, her husband said Monday.

John McCain announced the trip at a fundraiser in Sacramento, California, telling the crowd, “Cindy is not here today, and I am sorry she is not, but she is on her way to the little country of Georgia.”

The wife of the Arizona senator will return on Wednesday, CNN's Dana Bash reported.

Cindy McCain is traveling with the U.N.'s World Food Program and plans to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Sakaashvili as well as wounded Georgian soldiers, a McCain campaign aide told CNN. She is also scheduled to meet with members of the HALO Trust, a group aimed at removing landmines.

In preparation for leaving, Cindy McCain told Time magazine: "There's a very serious landmine issue now, because there are landmines being laid as we speak."

"There's a whole bunch of things going on right now, and as we begin to move refugees from point A to point B or try to feed refugees who are stuck in pockets around the country, we're now running into the issue of the blowing up of humanitarian vehicles that are trying to get to the refugees. So it's a whole morass of problems now," she said.

McCain’s departure comes on the same day Michelle Obama, the wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, will address the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.

Both McCains were in Georgia last year. Cindy McCain told Time her work on missions abroad was "an important part of what I'm about, what makes me tick."

Hey – she can come back with her OWN war story – or maybe dodge a few bullets. ha ha ha ha

Send the money and keep your botox riddled face out of there. Trying to buy votes for your hubby?

    WE ARE NOT GEORGIANS

John from Binghamton - You're absolutely right. McCain was bought and paid for via his chief advisor, Scheuneman, by the Georgian government. Too bad their $$$ bought them a bunch of bluster and hot air instead of action.

That's McSame's foreign policy: Take the $$$ and RUN

A tad "presumptious" of McCain to have his wife meet with the Georgian President. Humanitarian effort? thats ok...........lots of common citizens are involved in that in some form or fashion. But a special meeting with the Georgian President? NO, it is out of line

Cindy Cocaine looks so false and out of touch with the real world. She looks like a dressed up crack/chicken head in expensive clothing if you ask me. Michelle exudes beauty inside and out and not only that, Michelle is very, very Smart. Some people dont know how to except that fact. Cindy Cocaine needs to go share some of her wealth with her half sister that she's ashamed of. Charity starts at home.,

Ms. Weird Eyes, give her an IQ test after McCain takes his. I can't hate on her though, she is rich and there is nothing wrong with that.

I just think that she and John are so removed from the struggles of everyday Americans that they cannot possibly understand those struggles. If they cannot understand those struggles then it is impossible for them to do anything to fix the situation.

So, nothing wrong with having 8 kitchen tables, but at the same time, there is no way that you can understand the struggles of someone with either 1 table or in many many cases, no table at all.

I like McCain, but he is not the man at this point, in 2000 yes, but not 2008.

I hope that America wakes up and pays attention to the issues instead of all of these worthless side shows and gotchas that are served up to cloud the real issues that face us.

I think that it is really really simple. If Bush policies benefited you and you believe benefited the country, then you should surely vote for McCain. He did support Bush 95% of the time. If you believe that those same policies hurt you and the country that we all love, then you need to vote for whoever is not McCain, plain and simple. There really is no need for any further campaigning. It is either Bush policies or not Bush policies.

Read the article you morons and you'll see what she's doing there.

To the michelle lovers, the media hasn't scrutinized her because she hasn't been giving stump speeches like michelle. If she was out actively campaigning and making statements on behalf of the campaign, then they'd have every reason to cover her.

What is the point? How stupid, McCain is not the POTUS, he has no business sending anyone anywhere.

I wonder if Cindy is going to take Joe Leiberman with her to explain the difference between the USSR and Russia....the way he had to explain to her husband the difference between the Sunni, Shiite, and the threat posed by Iran during his visit to the Middle East?

    its a shame....
Mrs Mccain can be the biggest giver on Earth! However, since mccain already used the Russia issue politically, why should we trust that hes not putting his wife in the political line of fire!

    p.s
Cindy had no bussiness attacking Mrs Obama when she spoke about being proud of the Country. She inserted herself in the line of fire from Democrats

    2nd ps
please not that the so called Surge started 2 years ago. THERE WAS LIVE BEFORE THE SURGE!!!!!!! and in the biggest decision to go to war, Mccain goofed! we were not greated as saviors, the war is not not funded by Iraqis and the gates of Hell is certainlly not Iraq!!!

Leave the wives alone! There's enough ammo out there to go after either husband. You bloggers want people to talk about issues, then you spew forth this crap.

Cindy McCain has founded a charity and contributes over 20% of her income to charity - She ran the charity she founded and has experience in getting things done for people around the world in distress. Princess Di also worked with the landmine removal charity and visited places that had these problems. Cindy McCain runs the family business, manages the trusts and does charity work -

go do some research – Its fine that you don't like Senator McCain's politics, but charity work should not be ridiculed.....

Hillary Supporters: By supporting McBush you are electing our youth to war for the next 100 years. Be careful, the draft will be coming for a loved one near you!

  21. You all are democrats?

Then why are you so stupid?

Regardless of what you think of her husband, Cindy McCain is more than qualified to take this kind of trip. She has devoted her life to helping people in need – including starting a non-profit that made more than fifty trips to war-torn countries bringing doctors, nurses and medical supplies.

I can't believe how mean you all are. It's pathetic.

Sooooo..... Sen. Obama goes overseas and he's denouced by the McSame camp as "arrogant" "pompous" "uppity". Now McSame is sending his WIFE to a war zone to straighten things out. A WAR-ZONE!!! This woman has no foreign relations experience and can only do more harm than good. Wake up, people. Look behind the curtain and see how many other lobbyists McSame has on his team. They will be who he will be beholden to- not the American people. Wow- Georgia paid 800,000 for a visit with the crypt-keeper!!!

Dear demobrat – Cindy's "American company" just merged with a Dutch company and so the jobs will now be going overseas. And Obama worked for all of his money, he didn't marry into it, and the only other "house" he will be living in will be the white one on Pennsylvania Avenue.

  24. So sad.

Why are you all so mean?

I'm a Democrat. That means I try to be nicer and more open to others. Right? Or am I wrong? Are we supposed to be the idiot mean party?

Before you bash this woman who has spent her life helping others, remember that Ted Kennedy – your God – cheated on his wife many, many times, with many women.

    He even killed someone.

Let's keep things in perspective people.
