Scenes from the Trail: The line starts early at Invesco

ALT TEXT

The lines were long early in the day to get into Invesco Field (Mathieu Young/CNN)

Denver (CNN) - Charlie Dominguez is spending his 47th birthday standing in line at Invesco Field hoping he will be able to count a ticket to Sen. Barack Obama's Thursday night acceptance speech among his birthday gifts.

"It's just to be close," Dominguez said. "Everybody's electrified. I want a chance for the glimpse, ya know?"

Dominguez, who hails from traditionally-red Kansas, said he was always a registered Republican until this year when he switched his registration to Democratic.

A few ticket-holders and would-be attendees arrived at Invesco Field by 9 a.m. By noon, the line for entrance included roughly a thousand people, a reporter estimated.

The campaign expects roughly 75,000 people in attendance when Obama officially accepts the Democratic presidential nomination.

John in Binghamton, NY: ""working people" will not have their taxes increased. Get it right and stop spreading lies trolls. Only the rich will pay more"

How do you figure? Do the rich not work, too? So you find it acceptable to punish success and reward failure in America? Is this the new American Dream?

I'm not tuning into Obama's speech. If I want to hear someone preach I'll go to church on Sunday.

  6. What?

Thank you for CARING for ALL people Obama. You are the only candidate that really thought of the people and move to a bigger site to deliver your speech so more could feel included. Those who negatively criticized Obama decision, shut up and take notes.

McCain was once a POW. Once, they say, he was a maverick. Those days are gone. Now he is a tired man who has no new ideas and bases his campaign on slandering his opponent.

I feel sorry for those of you who don't see what I do in Obama. He has judgment, wisdom, intelligence, and a very different kind of experience that will enhance his ability to lead our nation.

So what if it's a party tonight? This is an historic celebration.

Does anyone realize that this article is a report on an ad that hasn't even been aired yet? Does anyone see CNN's desparation here? What has the media come to that not only are we reporting on controversial campaign tv spots by AIRING THEM but CNN has the audacity to report on news even BEFORE IT HAPPENS!!! I don't know about you all, but I will be getting the rest of my campaign news from NPR or the BBC... this is rediculous!

The "Rock Star" will take stage tonight. Is Britney Spears going to be on stage tonight? I heard Obama had the same "Stage Designer."

Just because it is historic does not mean we should elect him. Most people still will vote party lines because of core party policies like taxes, abortion, constitutional interpretation, big v. little government, immigration, social security reform, international policy, and plain old liberal v. conservative values, etc.

I get sick of democrats who think they have the monopoly on intelligent opinions on these policies and issues. Many people will see the historic importance of an African American candidate, but will still vote for the guy who they think will not take the country in the wrong direction (like Obama will).

Typical republican respone I'm sure. When your are backed into a corner like they are, what else can you expect? They have nothing of substance to say. Oh, excuse me, maybe George W. (W stands for "WORST" president in the history of our country) Bush could give a great speach on their behalf. snicker, snicker
Why is it with the republicans alway more of the same? NO McCAIN..

I think you need a some perspective, here.

Do we need to move on from the 34,000 deaths caused by Bush and the Republican party's ego?

Aren't we currently living through a banking and housing crisis? I work in Banking and there have been countless people laid off that I personally know. The Dot.Com collapse pails in comparison.

  24. Oh! The Irony

This is hilarious. Bashing a candidate because he is "popular"....because he has many supporters....because his supporters are energized.

    Makes so much sense.

Historical was COLIN POWELL heading the Joint Chiefs!

Historical was CLARENCE THOMAS being named to the Supreme Court!

Historical was CONDI RICE being named as Secretary of State!

    ALL BY REPUBLICANS!

Bill Clinton had a black secretary!

It's not about Obama's skin color. It's about his dangerous, leftist ideology that turns people off.

Democrats just WISH it were all about race!
