What the TV cameras aren't watching

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/08/28/art.smith.ap.jpg caption="Barney Smith got the Invesco crowd to its feet."]While TV cameras weren't watching, "ordinary guy" Barney Smith - part of the convention's "American Voices" segment - brought mile-high stadium to its feet.

He told his story of losing the Indiana factory job he'd held for 30 years and then said America needed a president who paid more attention to "Barney Smith" not "Smith Barney."

The crowd leapt to its feet chanting "Barney, Barney!"

My my my. Regardless of his policies I guess some people just cant deal with a politician that is both charismatic and popular. Any republicans that complain about that are just upset that their nominee isnt. Maybe in 2012 they will convince someone who is to run for president then.

I saw the whole thing on CSPN – I've realized that CNN has an agenda that is not mine.

CSPAN had their cameras on it, CNN had repetitive analysts picking apart Hillary Clinton's speech. Thanks for nothing. And thanks for not publishing my first comment.

Wow!!!! What a great Commander in Chief Senator Obama will be. I am speechless. I trust his judgement, his temperment, and can't wait to cast my vote. It's time to make a change.

Obama knows that we need a new leader, not the same old same old. If the people don't see this, they must be living under a rock.

Why has the media ignored the serious allegations made in the federal declaractory judgment lawsuit that was filed against Senator Obama on August 11, 2008?

If Obama is not constitutionally eligible to become president, do you think that no one will notice?

Why are so much republicans distilling their venon by being negative? because they are so afraid.

chitowngal07 You are asking a lot. From your point of view he should have done something for you particularly and for each person living in Chicago. If you can't understand Obama had to work to get elected all you need is a sugar daddy to takecare of you.

CNN why not post on your ticker " What CNN was not showing" because their so called pundits were busy talking. I saw the "ordinary" guys speak on CSPAN. Maybe CNN should copy the example of just letting viewers watch the events and make their own analysis.

Hey Maynard: Did you ever consider that oil is a finite resource, it won't last forever, no matter how may refineries there are. Al Gore is the winner of a nobel peace prize for a reason.

Then can you please explain why Illinois elected him as a Senator if he wasn't involved in his community?

I have never been so moved by a candidate for the Presidency of the United States. Full of hope, vision and full of solutions that are pragmatic and address their challenges that are before us as individuals and as a nation! Tonight I felt and feel once again honored to be an American. I could not help but in some ways see all that have gone before him over the history of our nation and how they, I am sure were celebrating with us as we saw Mr. Obama accept the nomination of President of the United States.

I was a boy when John Kennedy was President and it has not been since then that I have felt and we have felt so much hope.....so much life!

God bless Mr. Obama, his family and those with him; protect him and keep him and May God Bless America!

How do you list Obama being in Illinois Senate from 1997 to present. This was stated in your FACT section as Obama spoke tonight. How do you correct this mistake.
