Palin compared to Cheney

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/08/31/art.cheneypalin.gi.jpg caption="Palin is being compared to Dick Cheney."]

(CNN) - Presumptive Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin has been compared to past VP picks Dan Quayle and Geraldine Ferraro for her relatively low profile on the national stage, but now Democrats are likening the Alaskan governor to another running mate: Vice President Dick Cheney.

Speaking on ABC's "This Week" Sunday, Sen. John Kerry said Palin is a member of the "flat-earth caucus" and her stances on climate change are in lock-step with those of the vice president.

"With the choice of Governor Palin, it's now the third term of Dick Cheney, because what he's done is he's chosen somebody who actually doesn't believe that climate change is manmade," Kerry said.

Kerry also said Palin is "Cheney-esque" when it comes to her conservative stances on social issues.

Shortly before being named John McCain's running mate, Palin told the conservative magazine Newsmax she does not believe climate change is man-made - a statement that puts her at odds with the preumptive GOP nominee and the 2008 Republican platform.

"A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location," Palin told the magazine. "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made."

McCain has said addressing climate change is a top priority, and the Arizona senator backs implementing mandatory caps on carbon emissions if he is elected president. The 2008 Republican platform also includes the words "global warming" for the first time and refers to the effect of "increased atmospheric carbon."

Kerry needs to go back to the many houses he and his multi-million-dollar heiress Heinz wife own - and shut his trap. He has about as much credibility and judgment as an amoeba.

Ok,Enough is enough! She also doesn't believe global warming now?!
Bad enough she supports McCain when he votes against equal pay for women-and she's a woman.I guess she wouldn't mind not getting paid as much as her twin Cheyney. She thinks that even if a woman or young or very young girl is raped or is the victim of incest they still have to have the baby. She's being investigated for ethics as well.
This is ridiculous.Wake up America!Wake the heck up this time!

Anyone including Sarah Palin who believes that abortion should be illegal for victims of rape or incest, that man has not contributed to global warming, and that the bibles view of creationism should be taught in public school is down right scarey. I hope that Americas goal is not to turn back to the 19th century!

In March of 07 she says she doesn't know much about the Iraq war she was to busy with local issue's. Yesterday she heard boo's in PA for saying Hillary's name in her speech. And now climate change is not man made. Spoken like some with no experience!

Personally I think she may be even worse..if that is possible.. she has something to prove being a woman, unqualified and being married to big oil.. a good choice for the Dems indeed!! However, Cheney has that clous of evil that seems to surround him.. I will be glad when that sucker is outta there!
p.s. Why is it I never get posted??

It's more dangerous when we think we know everything and obviously, those that think they know everything are not doing a good job, either.
It may be time to stop and think rather than attack.

Sen. Kerry appears to be trying to smear Gov. Palin by tying her to a number of general issues she and Cheney share in common. However, the primary reasons for the general distaste for Cheney seem to be 1) his disregard for the law (a major shortcoming for a top executive branch official since the executive branch is charged with enforcing the law); and 2) his secrecy (apparently to cover his activities directed at circumventing the law). Kerry's smear fails because she doesn't seem to share Cheney's real negative qualities.

Picking someone further to the right than Bush & Co. scares me, and I hope it scares the rest of America, too. What, was Ann Coulter not available? If John McCain were truly a "maverick" as I used to think, he would have picked Joe Lieberman or Mitt Romney. Guess he decided which group he wants to pander to: all those faux religious nuts who use hate, in God's name, to justify anything they do.

What is wrong with the press! How long are you going to protect John McCain?

Not a word about the fact that Sarah Palin was FOR the brigde and insisted that Alaska had to act quickly before the party lost it's majority. The bridge was endangered for reasons that had nothing to do with Palin-the bridge had become a laughing stock!! Congress stripped away the offending earmark, shifting the money back to the state's general fund and future federal support seemed unlikely!! After Palin took office her first budget didn't allocate money for the bridge. I could go on, but the bottom line is she was fine with the bridge in principle, never had a problem with earmarks and only gave up on the bridge when federal support was not forcoming.

It's about time someone (you) vetted this candidate.

John McSame shot himself in the foot by choosing this, to borrow a phrase from Mann Coulter, harpie to be his running mate. He is so finished, it's almost not funny, keyword: almost.

That's right! Palin and Cheney are exactly alike. They even look the same! Just compare their pictures.

Bah! It just blows my mind that anyone still even bothers to ask Kerry his opinion (which I'm sure will change tomorrow).

You can't build a resume on lies. Palin should have enough respect for herself and stop the lies that she has more experience than Obama and Biden. Republicans are undercutting their own constituents with these lies and for other senators and house members to sit back and say nothing in contempt of these lies is saying they agree Palin has more experience than them also.

What does Palin know? She is just a small town, pretty politician who turns out to be totally uneducated in most areas of technology, science and law.

    CNN–REPORT THE NEWS NOT GOSSIP!

I am a CLINTON Democrat. I watched during the primary when NEWS channels gave sexist remarks, dismissed her accomplishments, gave all views pro Obama, played DOWN his utter lack of experience...did NOT vet him, and reported EVERY FLAW in Clinton just so she would not be the nominee...then the "Farce" of a DNC Roll Call Vote.

NOW you are doing the same thing to PALIN. SEXISM at its' finest!

YOUR ANCHORS are supposed to REPORT the news, not ARGUE that Palin lacks experience....what a bunch of hypocrites!

I for one AM voting for Republicans this year! McCain has more EXPERIENCE at the TOP of the Ticket, and Palin has MORE executive experience than any of the OTHERS...period.

I hope they shake up things! THE DEMOCRATS and OBAMA voted FOR the bridge to nowhere...perhaps if they Hadn't done that, the levees in New Orleans would have been finished by now.

By the way, didn't you PROMISE equal coverage between the conventions, or do you shroud your news station in dishonesty?

Without talking politics, does that mean that neither senator McCain nor Gov. Sarah Palin are going to work on or even sign the Kyoto protocol while the entire world is accepting the climate change as being man made?

  19. Dems are grasping at straws.

I live in Minneapolis. I'm sure people around the world would be shocked about the amount of deer we kill in our state. But they don't live here. She lives in Alaska. She governs Alaska. She is going to know better than any of us what's best for Alaska.

She's also not afraid of her own party. She's not afraid to stand up to anyone and say, "Something isn't right." She'll even quit her job if it comes down to it.

    That's moxie.

Dems chant about change. Biden has voted with his party 96% of the time.

Dems say Palin is another Cheney? BOTH Obama and Biden are Jimmy Carter clones.

This pick looks worse and worse by the day.
As a woman.Woman to woman I don't understand her thinking. She's against gay rights, wants to overturn roe vs wade, and she's ignoring global warming. It's proven to be man made for goodness sakes. She first voted for that bridge to nowhere and now for political reasons says she opposed it from the start. It's insulting for McBush to think every woman will fall for his pandering. But then again he thinks our worries over our finances are all in our head.McBush thinks we're all stupid.

good job Kerry. The more information available to tell the people the better. From what I read on the internet, she is a dangerous person who is corrupted. If the two newspapers in alasks and blog in alaska are saying she is corrupted, into cryonism, her favorable ratings have dropped by 30% and believe she is not ready to be vp let alone governor, that is very telling. she is not different thhan bush or cheney.

Poor Mc Laim he realy belives that he can run campain just by geting free ride on Democrats effot. All of a suden is trying to use power of general feeling that Obama have generated – if you see what I do and how I do things you shouldn't count my Washington years!!!!!!!!!! But Mc Laim has an serious defect in thinking. That doesn"t quolify anybody who doesn"t have experiance for job.Obama have changed perception fo Washington importance BECAUSE HE IS WISE ,HE IS BRILIANT,HE HAS A VISION, HE HAS A CARACTER, HE AHS EDUCATION. HE HAS A SKILL,HE HAS A HART,HE HAS A COMON SENSE, HE HAS A JUDGEMENT......all that Mc Laim and this beauty contender can dream of . So a fact that she doesn"t have experiace can"t be of that power McLaim would like.
On other hand Mc Laim would like to steal momentum that Hillary has worked so hard – and created so much tension .Bringing anatomicaly similar thing into game just showes his disrespect to Hilary and all women. He realy things they are all the same!!!!!!!!!!!!
All in all he ia aware HE IS NOT ABLE TO BRING ANY LIFE AND IDEA IN HIS CAMPAIN BUT NEED TO STIL ALL WHAT DEMOCRATS HAVE PUT AS AGENDA THIS TIME AND USE FOR OWN GOOD. Sorry McLaim that is error in judgement. It is sad to see how you are alowing democrats to shape you....poor, poor judgement

Climate change isn't man-made?!? Is Palin's stupidity and ignorance of a major issue man-made, or was she just born that way? I actually having her as VP would be worse than havig Cheney as VP. Say what you want about Dick, but at least he's not a moron, as this woman appears to be.

    Let's examine the tickets:

Barack & Michelle Obama – Both lawyers.

Joe & Jill Biden – He, a lawyer; she a PhD in Education.
    _______________________________________

John & Cindy McCain – He barely graduated from Annapolis, even with his 4-star Admiral pappy's help; she has a Masters in Education and inherited a fortune.

Sarah & Todd Palin – She has a BS in Journalism; Todd is a part-time fisherman, part-time oil field worker.
