Palin's early morning practice run

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) - Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin took an early Wednesday morning tour of the podium at the Republican National Convention - some 15 hours before she’ll return to the stage to give what can be considered the most important speech of her life.

The Alaska governor walked through the nearly empty Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota - site of the Republican convention, spending about ten minutes checking out the podium, where she’ll give her primetime nomination acceptance speech.

Palin told reporters, including CNN’s Jessica Yellin, that she feels “great” and, as she walked off stage, answered a shouted question about the speech, saying “I’m excited to speak to Americans. This will be good. It’s about reform.”

Palin was accompanied on her tour by top McCain campaign advisers, including campaign manager Rick Davis and senior adviser Nicolle Wallace.

I predict that Palin will drop out of the race within the next month....and McCain will put Lieberman on his ticket.

I think Palin is a ruse, and I also think it will backfire on McCain.

McCain makes the wrong decisions again and again, and his choice of Palin just proves my point.

John McCain is not an honorable man. Period.

Reform???? You mean more of the same. She recieved millions of dollars of pork barrell spending for her state even though McCain has tried to paint her as someone who is against that. Is she going to deny that when that has proven to be true? She has also caused a huge deficit for her state. Republicans are the biggest hypocrites alive, it's amazing to watch them. I wonder how that abuse of power investigation is going for you Palin? Now McCain's campaign is trying to interfere with that investigation.

Fred Thompson should stick to playing a politician on TV. He may think he's in a TV show with the cameras and bright lights, but he should be reminded that he failed in the real world and he is just not the right person to redicule BO.

The Republicans continually portay themselves as holier -than -thou, but we now know they don't have a monopoly on family values and morality.

Look a little closer at Palin's "reform" record people. The thruth is she was one of the worst pork barrel spenders out there and she was for the bridge to nowhere before....then she was against it later. I am okay with spending money on government programs we need – better education, healthcare, etc.... but Palin used way too much government spending for the size of her town honestly.

I just don't think her actions as a mayor and governor match with what her speeches are saying.

Reform is good. Reforms like not using political power to have people fired for divorcing your sister. Reforms like not pressureing the Public Library to ban books that offend you just because you are Mayor of a tiny Alaska town. Reforms like excluding people from National Office when they have ties to radical anti American , Alaska Separatist Groups. Those kind of reforms?

I am shocked at how your coverage has changed from the Democratic Convention to the Republican Convention. The coverage of the democrats was decent. But, this junk you're pouring out on Palin is just tabloid sleeeeeeze!!!!! I'll have to agree with Fred Thompson that the dems look scared. Can't you just state the news facts please. I thing us adults can figure out the facts. That news clip of McCain looking down while Palin gave her speech makes CNN look so bad, in fact this will be my last blog to CNN. I WILL NOT WATCH YOU ANYMORE YOU TABLOID SIMULATORS!!!

Palin is the best the GOP can do, next to John McCain - which is pretty sad. Considering that there are more people living in the city of San Diego (1,256,951) than Alaska (670,053), her "experience" can at best be measured against those of mid-sized metropolitan city mayors. And THAT'S the best Republicans have as their go-to person for Vice-President?

It's almost enough to feel sorry for McCain.

If every person who plans on voting for Obama/Biden takes at least 5 people with them, or gets 5 people to vote Democrat, McCain/Palin will be curshed in a landslide.

It's time to stop talking and start doing.

Coach her and coach her well not that it will make much of a difference. I still will not vote for her.

Meanwhile, another firing controversy for Palin. This time for firing a local police chief for disagreeing with her (he wanted to close bars earlier because of a spurt of DUI incidents and wanted to restrict the carrying of concealed weapon by civilians).

Palin has quite a history of tolerating no dissension, firing people when she steps into office and hiring people totally devoted and loyal to her... sound familiar?

    Palin is dangerous to America.

REFORM? Reform to what? To your way of thinking or GET OUT OF THE WAY? So if I don't reform to your way of thinking, are you going to fire me too? Am I now UN-AMERICAN and UN-PATRIOTIC?

After watching last nights convention speeches, as a Republican Conservative, I am disgusted to see that the Republican Party is creating further divide in America. It is not an INCLUSIVE Party. It does not speak for ALL AMERICANS or ALL CHRISTIANS. The Republican Party has turned into a movement for the extreme right wing evangelicals! It is an EXCLUSIVE CLUB that is DIVISIVE, NOT INCLUSIVE!

COUNTRY FIRST? This country belongs to many people, not just your brand of Republicanism! You don't get to decide who is PATRIOTIC and who is not! You don't get to say who is a Christian and who is not!

One more example of the hypocrisy in the republican party.

Why was Joe Lieberman allowed to speak at the Republican convention last night?

Since when does an Independent promote one party over the other?

This just proves that Lieberman is an unethical, dishonest, disloyal, traitor.....in otherwords a true republican.

Say what you will. It doesn't change the fact that the Republican party is a mess.

Did you all see the make up of the Republican convention. That is suppose to be the representation of the United States. Nothing they say benefits me. Their agenda is against anything I stand for and is not beneficial to my children's future. America has had enough and it is time for a change not another lie.

I'm no fan of Republicans and I have never and probably will never support any Republican candidate for any office, but I have to say, I don’t think Fred is wrong. Once again we Democrats have chosen a candidate who offers pie in the sky idealism over pragmatism and common sense. If elected, I hope Obama proves me wrong, but I think he will be a disaster. I'm also afraid that this Democratic Congress doesn’t have the will to oppose a President from either party and that an Obama Presidency will degrade into the Democratic version of the Republican congress under G.W. Bush – rubber stamping everything he wants to do and unwilling to put the brakes on bad policy. As I said, I hope Obama proves me wrong, but I'm not counting on it.

"It's about refprm" is all she knows about the speech. I'll bet $100 dollars she didn't write her own speech like Biden or Obama did. I'll also bet that this "reformer" image thrust on her is pure fantasy.

And if I hear again from Republicans that she is more qualified than Obama I'm gonna puke. Obama ran for and won a major party's nomination for president and received over 18 million votes. He ran a flawless campaign, people believe him. Palin has received 0 votes nationally (i'm sorry, 1 vote, McCain's). She has 1.5 yrs as a governor of one of the least populus states. She was mayor of a town of 5000. Excuse me, but MY town's mayor is more qualified than Palin is, I'm sorry...I'm not buying it.

She has been in hiding for a few days so she should have had plenty time to polish up her speech. Will be nice to hear someone under 60 speak and lets hope the crowd does not resemble last nights geriatric club.Last night was a time warp and too many flip flops from Freddy and Joe as well as the self serving speech from Laura so anything would be an improvement.Last night was all about war and war heros and if you are not Republican you do not love your country. The party put all there marbles on having Palin saving their parties lives tonight after insulting every Dem and independant.Palin will have to hit it out of the park to get some respect back to Americans and that pressure was put on her by her party.
