McCain, Palin pledge to 'break some china' in Washington

[cnn-photo-caption image=
caption="McCain and Palin are stumping on a ‘maverick’ message."] STERLING HEIGHTS, Michigan (CNN) - At a large rally in Michigan on Friday, his first day campaigning after accepting the Republican presidential nomination, John McCain promised to upend the Washington status quo, arguing that the Democratic ticket doesn't have the chops to do so.

"That's why this ticket is the ticket to shake up Washington, because Sen. Obama doesn't have the strength to do it," McCain said. "He has never bucked his party on any issue. Never. If you want real reform, if you want real change, send the one's who've actually done it. Send the team of mavericks who aren't afraid to go to Washington and break some china."

Introducing McCain, running mate Sarah Palin boasted, "There is only one man in this election who has every really fought for you, and that man is John McCain."

Palin offered another call to turn Washington upside down.

"I came to office promising major ethics reform to end the culture of self-dealing, and today that ethics reform is the law and that's what we're going to bring to Washington," she said.

Palin again told the tale of how she put her predecessor's luxury jet up for sale on eBay. Although she did initially offer the plane up for auction on the web, there were no takers, and it was ultimately sold off through a private broker.

At the beginning of her remarks, the Alaska governor played to her "hockey mom" persona by holding up a Detroit Red Wings jersey in front of the boisterous crowd. She also thanked Michiganders for hosting her son Track when he was a senior in high school - Palin said he spent part of that year playing hockey just outside of Kalamazoo.

Pledging more violence and distruction and calling the American people to "fight with them".

Seems only the extremist republicans aren't tired of the hate and wars.

They're appealing to the lowest in our society....and counting on our dumbed down public school system to hand over a bunch of true believers.

McCain's going to break only himself. He is the problem, and I don't owe him anything because he downed american planes and sang like a bird in hanoi to get free communist health care service.

Break some china, or Break China? Hidden clue there. We are deep up to our eyeballs in debt with China, and continue to rely on imports and manufacturing from China. What is McCain going to do about it?...NOTHING. He doesn't care. Sounds pretty bad for America if we're going to continue to be China's deadbeat lease.

President George H.W. Bush said during his 1989 inaugural address: "I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good,,,,,,,,Now its a bad thing!!!
And why the heck do they keep bragging that they fight all that corruption in their own party.... Is your party that corrupt

I see all the Obama piranhabloggers are calling her a liar about this jet. She DID put the jet on Ebay, it didn't meet the reserve so it was sold to a private company. But the nasty, evil vile Obamabloggers just can't contain themselves even when they're blowing hot air about nothing. THE POINT IS THAT SHE GOT RID OF THE JET AS AN UNECESSARY WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY!!!!!!What about that don't the Obama lemmings understand. These are the same goofy bloggers who labeled Hillary a liar over and over during the primarys.

Now lets point out a REAL lie.
Obama was "Not in the pews" when The good Rev Wright spewed his hate for America. Trying to say he wasn't aware of Wrights opinions. OUT and OUT LIE
Obama could "No longer disown Rev Wright anymore than he could disown his own white Grandmother" OUT and OUT LIE
Obama then throws Rev Wright under the bus when he rears his ugly head once again.

    Grandmothers everywhere....BE AFRAID!

Note to CNN, Your attempts at crucifying Sarah Palin aren't working. Just heard the new polls out. She's got a higher approval rating than your chosen idol Obama. Back to the drawing board.

Cambell Brown, Super Dummies, DNC, Democratic their dust! I'm voting against Nobama, no matter what Hillary says. Next election I will support her. In the mean time...John McCain made a genius choice...a gorgeous, extremely intelligent, successful Governor, Mother, and Patriot. Someone who hasn't spent the last 20 yrs trying to embed herself in one ethnic communtiy. She worked for all the people. For the first time in my adult life I'm ashamed to be a Democrat...Hope The Left wing media, and all those mentioned above are happy with their appointed nominee! The GOP got their miracle! Halliluyah the Lord is good! Go McCain/Palin '08!!!! CNN...There is no reason not to post this...except you don't agree.

palin is doing a lot of lying, scared to go in front of media, keeps reading same old speech over and over again, she is getting stale, too much drama with her, (there is something funky in denmark here), everything that glitter is not gold....just wait

  13. No Hillary = No Obama

I can't believe it myself. I have never voted Republican my whole life – true Blue Dem. But I have decided to vote for McCain-Palin – yep, I'm one of those "disaffected" Hillary supporters. Obama had the chance and he turned his back on Hillary and now I'm turning my back on him. Obama "sells" change – McCain DID change. I still can't understand why Obama was so selfish in his choice. I think McCain actually is a mavrick and people will be surprised – how can you say he's not progressive – look what he just did for all women – and Palin probably will find herself moving from the far right to more centered. Sorry, Hillary – but Obama betrayed 18 million of us.

“The republican party is the only party that can fix the damage that its party done” “The republican party is the only party that can fix the damage that its party caused”… that’s the best quote I’ve heard. every ones real opinion will not be talked about pertaining to Palin I can blog all day long and try to have a voice like yesterday...90% of the blogs on CNN said they did not like anything that was said at GOP including Palins speech but I guess the media owes her one?

How come this isn’t news? How come the news didn’t report what people really thought of all the speeches? That they weren’t well received at all but you took all the blogs off from your site…I guess you owe her a few free bees to keep her in the media…every one knows it was a good speech “in that hall" and that’s it.
Not one speech I heard from the GOP spoke to the America I know and the news media knows it. Can someone tell me who decides what news should be reported? I'd love to give my opinion and it be talked about Why don’t you talk about this poll on larry king

I just saw the interview with Sarah Palins Ex brother in law. Does anyone know how many State Troopers there are in Alaska? It may not be that far fetched that a State Governor in Alaska might weigh in on that small a detail.
Hey I am still a Hillary supporter. So my question is from a new independent.

I find it disturbing that CNN doesn't even attempt to moderate these comments pages with any veracity. There is so much misinformation being propagated, coming from both sides, and it would be refreshing, nay, responsible for an outfit like CNN to actually attempt to clarify on occasion.

Example from a comment on a Ticker post earlier this evening: In response to criticism about Palin not writing her own speeches, someone named Sara said that Obama doesn't either, so the argument is finished. The fact is, Obama DOES write his own speeches. And in the interest of keeping it balanced, so does Chuck Hagel. There are also numerous examples of mistruths right here in this very section from those who support Obama.

How difficult would it be for CNN to either 1) delete posts with blatant lies, or 2) clarify a comment that has blatant lies? CNN is part of the problem, and its failure to even attempt to remedy only sullies what little credibility it still has.

Oh, I forgot... appealing to the lowest common denominator is the best way to keep those page hits coming.

    Break some china?

Didn't Colin Powell say something like that in 2003? Like calling the invasion of Iraq the Pottery Barn war – "you break it, you bought it"?

These two idiots are waaaaaay scarier than Bush.
