New ad declares McCain-Palin 'original mavericks'

The McCain campaign is out with a new ad Monday.

The McCain campaign is out with a new ad Monday.

(CNN) - Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin are out with a new television ad Monday, declaring themselves the "original mavericks."

The 30-second spot, set to air in key states, says McCain and Palin will "make history" and "change Washington."

"He fights pork barrel spending," the ad's narrator states. "She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere. He took on the drug industry. She took on big oil."

Palin's statement claiming to have opposed the now-infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" has been disputed by opponents who note she supported the major earmark when she campaigned for governor of Alaska in 2006. According to the non-partisan, Palin didn't oppose the project until Congress had already nixed it.

These two scare me...if they get elected this country is in BIG trouble. In fact I have said that if thye get eleceted I might have to move to Canada until they get booted out.
Wake up is politics as usual with these they are agents for change,,,where was McCain for change before this...they just jumped on the band wagon for this.
McCain/Palin is the scary choice for America, and for all those women out there that are thinking about supporting her, look at her beleifes and McCain"s on Roe v Wade...and be very afraid...
I just cannot beleive that any independant with anyone sense would even think about voting for these two.

  3. Clintons Happy

Let's be realistic. Hillary has her eyee on the prize in '12 and it would be a lot easier without Obama seeking re-election.
With this in mind, the Clintons will not vigorously attack Palin. They may make some general statements, but the gloves will stay on. Bill and Hill will also drop little "stink bombs" about Obama, all while campaigning FOR him. They're pros this.

    Don't be suprised for a Biden-Hillary swap.
Rudy was right, Joe should have gotten the VP thing in writing.

Please, please, please, everyone go to for the true story on all the facts espoused by all the candidates during both conventions. We can all make our own decisions based on facts and not on biased media or even each other.

  5. Mad

The GOP is pretty shrewd, they know America is too racist to elect Obama and will play up the lies and fear right to the end. And it's working like a charm!
What is up with you angry liberal bloggers always blamming it on race?
FACE IT if Obama was white he wouldn't be here right now

Looks like the Obamabots are really mad now. Don't know how to respond to McCains brilliant pick of Palin so all they can do is scream "Liar." Same thing thay did to Hillary when she was their idols opponent. Notice how they overlook all the incredible distortions that their idol comes up with? I think they all have their lemming blinders on. I know CNNs poll of polls has them one point apart, but Gallup has McCain up now. The Obama suppoters can hope that his statement the other day that he had once thought about joining the military will pay off bigtime for him .

If John McSame can make American Believe he is the Agent of change so if George W Bush was running for reelection he can also claim he's been changing washington for 8 years now.

John McCain is the only person that calls John McCain a 'Maverick'. The only other individual I can think of that so blatantly self-promotes their pet name is Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson. The only true Maverick out there is James Garner... Palin is just a sacrificial lamb, that nobody, including the Rebubs and McCain, know anything about.

when the war-profiteers and loan-sharks on wall street make immoral amount of profit and salary for themselves, that profit and salary are all sacred private properties for them to "legally" own.

when (and they always do) incur gigantic debt in the process of defrauding the people, the debt is for the working people to pay.

especcially when your home is repossessed and your loved one's dying from cancer without being able to afford treatment, and

    your income tax soars,

in order to pay out the debt left behind by loan-sharks,

who already charged you obscene fees and interests for your mortgage .

PALIN LIES ABOUT REFORM!!! She is in the pockets of big oil already. In her failed bid to become Lt. Governor in 2002, she accepted $4,500 in contributions from the same fundraising scheme the led to the indictment if Sen. Ted Stevens. The contributions frem executives of VECO Corp., a powerful Alaska oil field services company. Bill Allen admitted his company steered money through special bonuses to its executives that they directed to be donated to favored politicians. An ongoing FBI investigation is still in progress although, Bill Allen has already pleaded guilty to bribery and corruption charges. DO YOU REALLY THINK SHE WILL REFORM WASHINGTON? NOT!!!

Joe Biden was on Meet The Press over the weekend. When is Palin going to "Meet The Press?"

This is a dis-service to the nation. We have the right to know who this gal is!

Dems are besides themselves because the Bush-tag won't work on McCain, who everybody knows dislikes Bush. Now they are sticking the Bush-label on Sarah Palin, but I only see one arrogant IVY-league know-it-all in this mix of candidates. His name is Obama!

I really wish people would stop saying things like "People aren't stupid," or, "People are smart enough to see through this." People are not interested in seeing through it or making any kind of intelligent evaluation for themselves.

They want to be handed platitudes and easily digested soundbites that reinforce their already-held positions and appeal to the basest emotional responses. God, patriotism, low taxes (more money in my pocket). Once they hear those things, they have their reasons not to vote for the new guy.

It happens every time. People do buy this stuff.

Perhaps it will take four more years of republican rule to kill the party among Americans? If McCain/Palin do take the election and fulfill their "maverick" image and promises (such as they are), then America will prosper. If they continue our current course, then Americans will be very wary of republican candidates for a long, long time.

Oh, who am I kidding? All a candidate has to do is point a finger and say, "Look! Gay terrorist illegal aliens trying to get married so they can go on welfare" and most Americans will vote that candidate immediately.

"Look! A party that will continue to send our sons and daughters to foreign lands to die for undefinable goals and send our national debt skyrocketing while gas, oil and food climbs even higher." See? No impact at all.

I watched Sarah's speech. It was sarcastic, smart aleck and condescending to the republicans. I can't believe voters would entrust this woman to deal with other counties-hasn't bush done enough damage?
If this ticket wins, the conservative christians just may get their Armageddon.

Mavericks may be but I don't see the title used in a positive manner.

Unfortunately, there are people who do not think for themselves, they allow other people to do it for them. There are people who will rub s*** in people's mouths and tell them it is a sausage. Sad, Sad, Sad!!!

If we pay close attention to some of the rhetoric that is being spouted by some of our leaders, it's all about themselves, those around them and those of their equal. They could CARE LESS about those who are not at their level - it's ME-ISM.

These two are going to finish building that "bridge to nowhere" if they win............maybe we will find ourselves at the other end of that bridge but you have to ask yourself..............Do you feel lucky? Well do ya?

Ah! What's the matter Obamabots...your attack dog turn into a poodle. He now is calling himself an underdog (no pun intended) for the upcoming debate.

Amazing for someone with NO EXPERIENCE they seem to be very distracted and it is showing.

If only Obama's ego had allowed him to put the real attack dog on the ticket. Hillary would have been great! But alas, the DNC didn't want her. You reap what you sow!

Obama=Egomaniac voted 97% of the time with own party. His own VP said he wasn't ready for the job. Hillary thought the same thing. I agree with both Biden and Clinton. Go back to Chicago and grow up!

  22. Serious Discussion

What a crock! McCain voted 90% with Bush and that's change? He chooses a "pork-barreler" and a right wing "sepereratist" and that's change? Ask how they differ with Bush–10% and that's change? I'll show you what change is!

On Thursday, after Palin's speech Obama opened his LA regional office an RSVP invite to the opening. I went just because I was curious and a friend went with me. It was called for 6pm to 8pm and we got there at 4:30 out of curiosity. It was interesting that maybe 10 folks were there, no major speakers were announced and by 5pm about 50 people were there. I asked how many people RSVP'd and they said 150. By 6pm there were lines down the block with about 600 people. They had to move it outside to the parking lot and that was not big enough so the alley behind was overcrowded as well. By the time we left at 7:20 there were over 1000 people there with lines still outside all of the press trucks, helicopters and the like. I've never seen such a diverse crowd and never seen the kind of response since the 60's. He raised 10 million that day alone.

These polls do not reflect the youth vote most of whom only have cell phones and no land lines. The polls do not count first time registrants. You will be surprised in the end.

Now that we have an agenda, lets move on with it. Pork barrel spending is why our government is broke now. Cut the politicans out of spending and don't give them a raise until the balance the budget.

Oh darn I forgot Hillary is still sulking out there. And with a $12,000,000 debt just what we need in Washington, a politican who can not handle there own budget let lone the government.

At least McCain/Palin is taking a stand on something instead of talking out of both sides of there mouth and not whining.
