New ad declares McCain-Palin 'original mavericks'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="The McCain campaign is out with a new ad Monday."](CNN) - Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin are out with a new television ad Monday, declaring themselves the "original mavericks."

The 30-second spot, set to air in key states, says McCain and Palin will "make history" and "change Washington."

"He fights pork barrel spending," the ad's narrator states. "She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere. He took on the drug industry. She took on big oil."

Palin's statement claiming to have opposed the now-infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" has been disputed by opponents who note she supported the major earmark when she campaigned for governor of Alaska in 2006. According to the non-partisan, Palin didn't oppose the project until Congress had already nixed it.

The HEAT is on the FEW obama supporters by the their nasty tone in this comment section. With biden and his 1% of supporters you should make a great showing in November.

Maverick \ˈmav-rik, ˈma-və-\ : an unbranded range animal; especially : a motherless calf.

Is this really what we want running our country? An unbranded range animal - a motherless calf?

We have already seen in the last 8 years what having a bunch of liars in the white House gets us and don't want anymore of it.

while the bridge to nowhere was axed. Alaska still recieved an equal amount in federal transit money to be used "as needed". The net financial impact was the same.

Don't give up hope...there's the debates. Get on the blogs and challenge every lie they post. Time to get in the mud with them. We've got to quit playing nice. Don't let them get away with it this time. In your face repubs.

What does he reform besides pork barrell spending? "I'll make them famous."(meaning those who present a bill with pork barrell spending attached). Isn't it wonderful to know that we would have a President who will concentrate on Prok Barrell Spending!! Come on –

As for Palin – we should all remember, we're voting for Obama versus McCain for President, and that she is only a Vice President nominee. What can she reform?

The sick thing about this tactic is that earmarks are a bogus issue of Republican invention. It was the Republican Congress that went wild with pork barrel projects, and even at their most excessive, earmarks total around half of one percent of the Federal budget. We spend more on Iraq in two weeks than we spend on an entire year's earmarks.

The Republicans are betting on the American people to be bad at math, and they're likely to win that bet. Look at how many Americans are stupid enough to play the lotteries, count most of them as Republican voters, and be afraid.

Palin, 2006: "People across the nation struggle with the idea of building a bridge because they’ve been under these misperceptions about the bridge and the purpose,” said Palin, who described the link as the Ketchikan area’s potential for expansion and growth. … Palin said Alaska’s congressional delegation worked hard to obtain funding for the bridge as part of a package deal and that she “would not stand in the way of the progress toward that bridge.”

Are they going to bring up her selling the jet on eBay too? This lady is full of lies.

People need to do their research on Palin. She took over a town that was debt free to leave it in debt and had to hire an advisor because she didn't know what to do or how to handle the town. She can't even handle a town with 5k people how will she handle America?

Can she also come clean on the bridge to nowhere that she also supported.

I guess us Americans look like we have stupid written across out foreheads.

Why is it, that whenever Mccain has a new ad cnn reports on it, I'm sure Obama-Biden have new ads, but we never hear about them here. How about a little more unbiased reporting?? Give Obama-Biden equal press!

If they were such mavericks and could actually talk about issues they wouldn't be working sooo hard to make this election about everything but ideas and issues...

What is absolutely amazing is that with the dawn of the Information Age, and the easy availability of information thanks to the internet and technology, people still choose willingly to be misinformed, misled, lied to, and deceived. Why is that?

This is only temporary. Obama will win. He's been through far worse than this in the last 18 months.

I'm asking all Palin supporters to take a peek at her record. A little peek won't hurt. If she's honest, support her. But if you find her telling lies, please think again.

This isn't a game. We are talking about our country. Do you really want more of the nightmare of the last 8 years?

Oh no.... almighty Obama does not need Hillary. McCain gave him a check mate with Paulin. He has lost and he doesn't even know it. He became too full of himself. You have to fight for elections. He thought beating Hillary was the end of the game.

He is about to learn about america. Whites and GOP make up more than half the country. Even if all blacks including those that are not of age vote for him he has only 12% of the vote.

If the media ever ends its "goo-goo eyed" love affair with Palin and challenges her record and stand on the issues, we will see the truth emerge. So, c'mon CNN and others the Honeymoon is over, we have less than 8 weeks to go – let's get Palin away from her "keepers" and make her speak, in her own words, to the issues.

Contrary to what the media may think, an election should be about the issues!

Supported the Bridge and kept the money...Why isn't the media pointing out that she spent the money on other projects and she lied about the pipline that MAY be built in 2018.........If this country is that stupid, not to see through the act McSame and Palin are playing, then I really feel sorry for the US.
