McCain and Palin once again play 'Barracuda'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Heart guitarists Nancy and Ann Wilson don't want the McCain campaign to play their song."]
LEBANON, Ohio (CNN) - The rock band "Heart" may have asked John McCain and Sarah Palin stop playing their song "Barracuda" at their rallies, but the campaign is apparently paying no heed.

The track - played at the Republican National Convention in honor of the Vice Presidential nominee, who earned the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" playing high school basketball in Alaska - was pumped through the streets of Lebanon, Ohio on Tuesday morning at an outdoor rally before the GOP ticket showed up.

Earlier: Heart condemns McCain-Palin use of 'Barracuda'

When the song was played after Palin's convention speech last week, the band members quickly requested that McCain and Palin pull the plug.

"Sarah Palin's views and values in no way represent us as American women," Ann and Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. "We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image."

But the McCain camp said last week that it had paid for and obtained all necessary licenses before using the song.

And the band's former guitarist, Roger Fisher, told Reuters last week that the McCain camp’s use of the song benefited both sides: Republicans get "the ingenious placement of a kick-ass song" - and Heart gets headlines and royalties. Part of that money, said Fisher, would be heading to the Arizona senator’s opponent: "With my contribution to Obama's campaign, the Republicans are now supporting Obama," he told Reuters.

  1. "Heart" Who?

WEREN'T they that band from the '70's and '80's? Haven't heard their name mentioned in ages. You'd think they'd appreciate the publicity for their has-been careers.

I wonder how fat the, uh, fat singer is now. Since they were pretty old in the '80's, I'm sure they've just gotten more unappealing with age.

Why are we talking about washed up "talent", again?

HA genious! Keep talking the same scripted speeches and raking in the money for Obama. 10 Million the night of your speech, 100 of which was mine. Keep it up!

Rules? Copyrights? The Republicans don't care. They believe themselves to be above the law.

    Heart should sue.

  4. Republicans Hate America

Like everything Christian people do they steal other peoples ideas to suit themselves and call it their own.

Christmas – stolen from the pagans
Christian Rock - Stolen from musicians despised by the religious

They do this because their message is flawed and they can only invade the ideology of other cultures in order to indoctrinate.

Typical repuglican way, ignore the people and what they want for their own gain. Anyway I find it funny how the royalties paid from the song were donated to Barack's campaign. That is what I call sweet justice!!!

This is funny! McCain is so sympathetic to Obama after seeing the polls. McCain praises Obama, funds Obama campaign, but Obama just attacks and attacks and loses.

Sarah's a good woman and she shares my conservative values, except for a few minor variations.

She qualifies to be a VP, but definitely not a President. I just watched Larry King/with Woodward on the war in Iraq, and PALIN does not measure up to be the Commander-in-Chief.

Wow! Just hearing Woodward talk about it, PALIN is not ready and will not be ready should McCain be in the afterlife, chasing Osama.

Way to go, Roger!! You're the man!!

Let's see how long it takes them to stop playing it now, now they know their money is going to further Obama's campaign!!

Really Ingenious!! Way to go, man!!

The Republicans should be playing the song "The Road to Nowhere".

Because that's exactly the direction America is headed to if these two idiots are elected.

Those Heart women should be Thrilled that some individual EVEN REMEMBERED THE SONG AND HAS REVIVED IT! Touche to the GOP who obtained the Licenses and Paid the Royalties BEFORE they used the song! LOL Why don't those Heart women keep up with their business? Since the two women have gone public and complained......they are now the 'laughing stock' of the music industry! Funneeee!

Take hint repugs, The rock band "Heart" doesn't want you to play their song. Kudos to The rock band "Heart" for seeing through the lies that make up the image that they present to the public. Palin is an antifeminist and honestly her view and values disgust me. (Although, she is pretty) I think they should pump out an anti Palin jam...if they could. It would totally put them back on the map

The same way that the McCain campaign is ignoring the wishesof the band is the same way that they will ignore the will of the people if they are elected!

CNN....why is the story on Palin and her religious beliefs not open for comments. You were ALL over Rev. Jeremiah Wright. If Palin wants to run with the big dogs then she should expect to get treated like one!

Why would they adhere to Copyright infringment laws?
The republicans beleive they are above our laws.
Mccain trying to hinder the Bi-partisan investigation into Palins Misuse of Power ..That was in full swing way before he had even met her.
George W telling his Administration to ignore Justice Dept supeonas.

The Republican Party have an overwhelming sense of entitlement and blatant disregard to truth or LAWS!

They are just like Bush and CO!
They can Lie and Deny ...But the truth is still the Truth!

The people should know that McCain/Palin do not give a crap about anyone but themselves. This is just one more example of them not caring about the average joe. They were asked not to use the song....

On the other hand...I do think it is kind of funny that the band has chosen to send donations to Obama's campaign using the funds. Priceless.

Who are they to care about copyright laws? If a business plays unauthorized music when they place you on "hold" when you call in, ASCAP can fine that business up to $25,000. What's the penalty for public use of music you have been asked to stop playing?

I think it's time McCain & Palin had some new material. Each & every time I see them live on TV, they just keep reading from the exact same script, saying the same exact things over & over again. Where would they be without their script. Maybe they can take another lesson from Senator Obama, such as speaking "to the people" and not "at the people", as it appears they have several times already in this race.

McCain may think that copy rights laws don't apply to his compaign. I hear him talking that he will create billions of jobs, so on average he will create 3 new jobs per American or a multiple of that number...what a bs!
